I took an odd-sized print to the Big M, along with my 50% off coupon, to get it framed and matted as cheaply as possible. Since it was going in my little South City back porch, I didn’t need above-the-mantle-quality materials — you dig? When they quoted me near $ 400WITH half-off coupon AND cheapest materials available, I proceeded to: 1. Clutch my heart 2. Pull a Fred Sanford and scream, «Did you hear that Elizabeth? I’m coming to join ya!» 3. Pick myself off of the floor 4. Grab the print 5. Book it out of the store Defeated, I took it to The Great Frame Up and they managed to do a fantastic job — matte, frame, glass — for $ 83. The customer service was great, they turned it around in a week and called me to pick up when it was finished. When I picked it up, the framed print was even sealed in plastic wrap so that it didn’t get banged up on the trip home and they included a hook to hang it. Hmmmmm…iiiiinteresting! I wonder how The Great Frame Up could find materials to frame prints at a reasonable price when the other place couldn’t? Could it be because you have to mark everything up out the wazoo so that you can offer 50% coupons to get people in the door? Bravo, Great Frame Up! Karma likey!
