I wouldn’t hope that any parent has the need for a pediatric cardiologist, but if you do, Dr. Goel would be a great person to have on your side. I was sent to Dr. Goel following a mid-pregnancy ultrasound when they couldn’t get a good look at the heart and had some potential concerns. The waiting room is very bright and was decorated cheerfully with Valentine’s hearts… or perhaps, being a cardiologist’s office, it’s always decorated that way? Either way, it was very welcoming. There were plenty of toys for waiting children to play with, and the Little Mermaid was playing on the tv in the corner. I was seen quickly after some paperwork. Dr. Goel was ready to see me on time. Fair warning, if you have to go in for an ultrasound with Dr. Goel. He is very quiet during the scan. Luckily, I had been warned by my referror, or that may have caused me some concern. Dr. Goel did a very thorough scan. He later told me during our consultation in his office that the baby wasn’t cooperating on positioning very well, so he considered sending me to go get a cup of coffee or come back tomorrow to see if they baby would move around. He said he took one look at my face and knew I needed answers right then. Thank God! I don’t think I could have handled the wait. It turns out that everything is fine, and Dr. Goel explained that to me. He did want to schedule a follow up, just as a normal precaution, for a few weeks down the road when the baby is a little bigger, and he can get an even better look. He reassured me many times that the baby’s heart looks totally normal, and he said if any other doctors tried to get me worried, I should call him right away, and he’ll reassure me once again that everything is fine. A very sweet man indeed!
