The beef paddy is always good and sure enough it was great here too! The jerk chicken was grilled and pretty good with a side of jerk sauce. But this isn’t how I’ve had it from others places. I’m used to a fall off the bone chicken that will turn your fingers yellow for a week kind of jerk. The cabbage was right on par and the rice was good. But without all that jerk sauce seeping into the rice n’ beans from the chicken it seemed kinda bland to me. Don’t bother getting a salad here. Stick with the chicken and the beef paddy. The wings looked and smelled amazing. I might be back for some of those one day.

Full disclosure — I was already on my way to pick up a bbq order from Sugarfire when we drove past, but Jamaican food isn’t a thing where I currently live so we decided to double up on food orders. By the time I got back to the car from picking up the bbq order, 2⁄3 of the jerk chicken was devoured, with him declaring it the best he’s had in the states(beating out Philly, Jersey, LA, etc) and the fruit punch just how his grandma used to make it. Delicious food, super friendly people, and an overall great experience. I’d write more, but I’m currently in a food coma.

Good filling food and a decent price. I got the jerk chicken that was served with a very spicy sauce on the side and some slightly sweet cabbage. Everything was hot and very flavorful.

I came because of a referral. I am very into Caribbean food, and this place was sub par to say the least. The curry wasn’t flavorful, and both me and my friend started to feel sick after eating. The cabbage was the only good thing I ate. We left our plates pretty full. I had a bad experience with the service. Both my friend and I agreed. I feel like they tried to be hospitable but it really was unprofessional and rude. I would only return for the rum punch, but I’m not returning ever.

We ordered the honey and jerk wings as appetizers, I liked both. The rum punch was on point. Main entrees were jerk chicken, oxtail stew, curried chicken and a side of plantains. Everything was delicious. Excellent and very attentive service. Definitely worth a visit.

I love this place. Authentic Jamaican food! If you are in a rush then this isn’t your place but if you are ready to sit back and order a few rum punches and listen to some great music while they cook your food to order than this is the place for you! Their oxtails are unbelievable… seasoned to perfection accompanied w cabbage and beans and rice. Yum. I have not yet had a dish that I did not like. On some Friday evenings it gets even better w the dj there spinning reggae music. The waitresses here are friendly and knowledgeable about the food. She once talked me into trying the curried goat and I actually liked it. Small place in size but big in flavor and authentic food!

We ordered the wings as an appetizer, half jerk and half honey. Personally liked the jerk better because of the seasoning. The sauce was a little spicy. For my main course, i ordered the curry goat, which was cooked so tenderly! The rice was moist and flavorful. I would rate this a 4.5. My bf got the jerk chicken. He was a little disappointed because the chicken was a little dry and didn’t have the flavor he was expecting and i agreed. The waitress recommended trying the ox tail stew as an alternative that i would try next time around. Reasonably priced food. The venue is pretty small and holds about 15 – 20 people. So good idea to make a reservation first for bigger parties. I loved the atmosphere of the place, it was welcoming and felt it fit the type of food.

Always a hit or miss with this place. Today was a hit. I got the Jamaican Jerk Chicken meal with rice and peas and cabbage. They changed the cabbage recipe and I am not a fan of the new one so I’ll be doubling up on the rice and peas next time. But it tasted fresh and was spice like I like it! And I had a ginger beer to set the whole thing off. I’ll be back soon. Please keep the food fresh!

I love this place! The young lady who owns this place is nothing but a jewel. My guy loves this place went in yesterday and they were closing and they totally served us! Best thing call in advance due to the fact closing times change! He loves the jerk chicken I had the shrimp Curry and I loved it the spice was to die for! This place is a staple for my visits in Stl!

The honey wings were disappointing, not in their flavor but they tasted like they had been made day(s) ago and reheated. The spicing was wonderful, but old chicken has a disappointing taste. That the chicken had been reheated is all that is preventing me from awarding 5 stars. I actually think it is at least a 4.5. That said, this tiny restaurant has my deepest hopes that it makes it. With only seating for 20, I don’t know how they could do enough covers in the six days they are open. The proprietor said they hope to ultimately open on Sundays also. We had jerked pork and chicken stew. Both dishes were absolutely top flight, and wonderful. The flavors developed in each of the dishes, which my wife and I shared, defined exquisite Jamaican cuisine. I was disappointed because they had not finished preparing the jerked chicken because we arrived very early(4:00 p.m.) but the stew that we ordered was wonderful. Overall De Palm will definitely be on our«go to», it’s a great restaurant list. Service was prompt and the ladies doing the serving were very competent. Thanks for giving us a great meal!

This was their first Monday open and we chose outdoor dining. The waitress was busy being by herself(other one showed later). Drinks were the rum punch and a ginger beer. They have both bottled and homemade ginger beer. We ordered the red snapper that was fantastic. It was seasonal and quite pricey. Also we had the curry chicken. Both meals were very delicious. We will definitely come back. Hopefully they’ll have more staff next time.

Wonderful, cozy, authentic and delicious. I had the goat curry and my wife had the whitefish. Both entrees were well portioned and superb. You must have the rum punch.

We used the purchase of a Groupon to finally get us to De Palm Tree. I noticed it several years ago because we have eaten at La Monarcha and Famous Szechuan Pavillion nearby. To be honest, I had been here three times for lunch and they were not open. So I asked about that and was advised that you should not arrive for lunch before 12:00 noon. That was my mistake, going by what were the posted hours at that time. Anyway, we went for dinner, just to be sure. I liked the place immediately, it is tiny and has a great vibe. I had a Jamaican beer and we ordered the Cod Balls as an appetizer. These are mashed potatoes with a little flaked fish mixed in, fried brown and served with sour cream. I liked them. They have mild but distinct cod flavor. I wished for a different dressing, or perhaps a seasoned sour cream, but this is probably traditional. For dinner Ms T ordered the veg black bean soup and I had to make my first visit official with Jerk Chicken. Both were good for me. Mine was accompanied by sautéed cabbage and a mound of peas and rice. The cabbage is sweetened and again, probably traditional. I would prefer it not sweetened. The peas and rice, I know are traditional, served at this time of year with a few red kidney beans incorporated. Fresh gungo peas would be more around Christmas time and are probably hard to find in St Louis. These peas and rice are really meant to go «wid it». They are bland, more of a filler. Never the less, I like peas and rice and enjoyed them even more when I scooped Ms T’s black beans on top of them. The black bean soup is a large serving, seasoned with cinnamon and a little sweetness. It is loaded with onion and various colors of bell peppers and is modestly spicy. Ms T is not a fan of cinnamon in savory dishes, but as I said, this was really good with the rice. It was also excellent left over with some grilled fish at home a day or so later. I went here for jerk chicken or pork or one of the curries. I really enjoyed my jerk chicken. I found it well seasoned and properly grilled. It was flavored as you would expect(a little spicy, grill smoky, flavored with cinnamon and allspice) and was not dried out. It was a good sized serving and was also outstanding three days later, chopped up on a salad. I certainly want to return and will try to curb the urge to order the chicken again, so I can try jerk pork or the curries. I really enjoyed this meal. The people were very friendly and welcoming. I’m glad I finally made it in.

I saw this little place as i was driving. My wife and i honeymooned in Jamaica more than 10 years ago. I thought I would try this place out and walk down memory lane. I am glad i did. The food was great. It is small inside. I wouldn’t take a large group. I would absolutely go here on a date night with my wife(yeah we have those). The environment was authentic and very awesome. Best part, the food! I ordered the jerk wings, jerk pork, and a banana rum thing(i forget what it was exactly) for desert. The wings were perfect. They had a wonderful, spicy flavor. I could have eaten a ton. They were served on a bed of lettuce and with a sauce that complimented the jerk spices. The pork was served in a sauce with vegetables and with both cabbage and rice and beans on the side. The sides were good. The pork was nicely done and good sized portion. The desert, I was a little unsure at first. I had never had a banana rum thing before. I am glad i did. It was a great way to end a great meal. Overall, i enjoyed my experience and recommend this place.

I love this place. The food is made to order so make sure you are patient. The Jamaican Patty is something delightful while you wait for your food. The ox tails are so juicy. The jerk while chicken and wings are very very good. I also enjoy the cabbage and rice that compliments the meal. If you drink try the rum punch ! It’s superb !

I would have given it a 3.5 but 4 is fair too. Food: Great food.!! I love the Stuffed Red peppers, the Okra, the Plantain chips are sweet and soft(they are okay), the tropical salad is very fresh! I was happy they have good vegetarian options and food is spicy and yummy. The portions are large too! Ambience: The place is small and dark. There is good/peppy music. The outside patio is not a great choice, it has only a couple tables and is almost on top of a big parking lot.

Well I walked in and the lady at the front never asked if I wanted a seat. She answered the phone and continued her conversation then finally asked was I ready to order, I ordered and told her I was eating here and she still never asked to seat me. So when I spoke of it. she went on to tell me of a customer that never sits down. I sat myself down. Apparently you seat yourself here after ordering at the bar. Initially she never asked did I want any water or anything to drink. The restaurant is dimly lit, I think this is supposed to be romantic. The waitress and any other servers are not very friendly which is not conducive to an enjoyable meal. I Finally got some water, after 13 minutes or so. Okay after about 30 minutes the bar server asked me did I want anything besides water to drink. Something must be right here because they do have some regulars. Seems like a good place to come and have a couple of drinks. I hear the Rum Punch is good, especially with an extra shot. Overall I will go back there are a couple more dishes I would like to try. Perhaps it will go smoother the next time.
