Definitely a place that needs more Unilocal presence. I learned about this place on a radio ad and as I was looking for good darts from some place without a copper dome I found myself here. Walking into this place is like a step back into time. I played pool off and on in college, but one time, one God forsaken, time I challenged my dad in the local VFW, a man who hadn’t seen a pool table in 25 years or so. I took one shot, sank zero balls and my then 68 year old father ran the table. This is the sort of place he frequented in the 50’s. The owner gave me a great deal on my darts when you combine the expertise I received in the selection. If I knew precisely what I needed Amazon would be better, but I didn’t. I got a great deal and great service. Pool seemed ridiculously cheap here too. Something like 5 bucks per hour for tables and cue rental. Patrons seemed upstanding and friendly. I may take my 78 year old dad here and see if I can sink one legitimately.

As a woman who also enjoys playing pool, I have to say that I have never felt safer at a pool hall than at Cue & Cushion. I’ve been a regular patron for over 20 years playing for fun on a weekend, or more seriously in their Monday night league. Many times I am alone, and frequently can be the only woman in the place for hours. I have never once felt uncomfortable, unsafe or threatened. The same can’t be said for other pool halls and bars in the area. The owners do a fabulous job keeping the good customers happy and asking the troublemakers and bad customers to kindly not return. The only people that don’t like this are the actual troublemakers. But it says a lot for a company to value their good customers so much that they aren’t willing to indulge the bad elements for the sake of a few bucks. Cue and Cushion is run by a family with integrity. In this day and age, that is almost nonexistent. C&C is smoke free and doesn’t serve alcohol, so a lot of the drama that comes with the«bar scene» doesn’t happen there, which is another big plus. If you’re looking to play serious pool, or seriously just want to chill out with friends and hit the balls around in a safe and fun environment, this is the place for you.

Cue & Cushion is a landmark in the pool community and has been for decades. When I first moved back to St. Louis after college, I started to pick up pool as a new hobby and everyone that I met said the place to go for all of your equipment needs and incredible environment to learn the game, Cue & Cushion is your one stop shop. I soon started looking for a new Cue and they were the first stop. Got a great deal, that was 18 years ago. Have bought and traded several cues there and always a good deal. C & C has that nostalgic feel to it, yet still has all the modern things you are looking for, from the internet jukebox to the first 9′ Diamond Smart table in the St. Louis area. They are also the only ones that offer 7′, 9′, heated 3-cushion, and snooker. Great rates and perfect place to play for anyone from the beginning player to even Mosconi Cup champions. That says a lot about the place when Mark Wilson, the current Captain of the Mosconi Cup team and the player that sank the winning 9-ball in the first Mosconi Cup to beat Team Europe has for years used C & C as his place of choice to give private lessons to the players in the St. Louis area. Highly recommend this legendary family owned pool hall for your next game of pool whether just for fun or for serious competition.

Reputation, reputation, reputation. Whether it’s the billiard room where you can rent tables for about $ 3.50/hr or the retail store where you can buy anything from darts and dart cases to pool cues and pool tables, they have a good reputable selection and service. The person who installs and sets up their pool tables is rumored to be one of the best in the entire country, having traveled around teaching others how to install pool tables. They carry quality products and know what they’re talking about. If you’re buying a cue, you can take it out into the pool room to try it out before buying it. If you just need your pool cue serviced, they do that, too. I have gone here regularly to have pool cue tips replace for only about $ 10, and it’s often ready in a couple days. They have even rushed the service for me when I needed it done in a hurry. One of the local pro’s from the Illinois side chooses the Cue & Cushion pool room to give lessons to his St. Louis, Missouri-side customers. The tables are well-maintained. No smoking inside. Sodas and snacks available. Like them on Facebook to stay aware of their many daily and weekly deals.
