This place is fantastic. I got the tostadas(I think) — grilled tortillas with meat, cilantro, and queso fresca on top– and ohhhh my God. So delicious, and only a little over $ 4 each(they’re huge, two are definitely enough for one person). We sat outside and it was awesome– it’s under an awning to no matter the weather you can enjoy your meal outside. Everything is so affordable and there’s lots to choose from. My friend got the steak taco salad and she loved it. I would have tried some but I got two tostadas and some guac and couldn’t even finish what I had ordered for myself! Their guac is soooo good, but their salsa is very, very spicy(which I don’t like, but I don’t love super spicy stuff). Their chips are thicker and weren’t my favorite, but they were free and they brought them out immediately when we sat down which was nice because we were starving. The service was great– very polite and very speedy. They also use an iPad for payments so closing out the check goes quickly. I seriously can’t wait to wait to go back. I’ve found my new favorite weekend spot!

The food is good but the customer service is terrible. I’m still sitting here waiting on my check after 20 minutes. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

This was absolutely bad ass Mexican food. They seemed to have all the faves. Enchiladas were folded style, fajitas big and sizzling, Burrito was big and beautiful. Two salsas served in big bowls. Not that ramekin biz. Both were great. One super hot and one hot. Both seemed to have a chipotle thing goin on. Service was a bit slow and inattentive. But we weren’t in a hurry. And I didn’t really need that refill on my water. Colorful, diverse neighborhood.

A buddy of mine & I went on a tamale run yesterday. This place sells a pack of 6 fresh hot tamales for $ 6.99. The tamales had pork with red salsa & with a thin outer coating of masa. The pork itself was delish. Beautifully braised in its tender juices with red salsa. To my understanding, red salsa in tamales means not spicy. Not so with these tamales. These tamales were burning hot. Insanely spicy. Soooo spicy that it would warm up your mouth & burn your taste buds in an instant. Perfect for a cold wintry day or for when you are trying to clear up your sinuses from a cold or allergies. I would definitely come back here to try other stuff. Just no more tamales from this place.

Find all your needs for an authentic Mexican recipe at this mercado. They have everything from tortillas to spices, meats and cheeses, freshly baked goods and fresh produce! In addition, there’s a restaurant in the back that serves traditional Mexican street food and MENUDO! If you’ve never tried Menudo, you should give it a shot at least once. It’s a beef tripe spicy soup with hominy. It’s garnished with lime, fresh onion and oregano and is known as the Mexican hangover(recovery) soup– delish!

Whenever I’m shopping at Carniceria Latino Americana, I fantasize that I’m in a little grocery store in Cuernavaca. I roam up and down the aisles visiting every nook and cranny. Many of the labels test my high school Spanish to the limits. However, I usually can figure it out by the labels. They’re pretty much the same, just a different language. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are no language barriers here, just good customer service. So when preparing your own versions of Mexican Cuisine at home I highly recommend shopping here for your supplies. The only downside to shopping here is when you exit. You’ll realize you are still in Saint Louis and have only been shopping on Cherokee street.

I live in North County, called, and asked for Skirt Steaks, something I love. Went there, got the PERFECT skirt steaks cut just the way I wanted them, and told my butcher, store, clerk and anyone else that worked there that«ILove you». To find what I wanted without traveling to Chicago!!! Wow. Everyone was sooo polite and nice. I really didn’t look around the store as my craving for skirt steak and having it in my hot little hands, the only, only thing on my mind was what was in my hands. To my Butcher, I am so sorry I did not get your name, so I could thank you here, but know this you did great. You will see me again. HURRAY for Latino Americana. .

This is an outstanding Mercado, and let me tell you, it is hard to find authentic mercados out there, but this one has it all. They have a great selection of meats at the carneceria, all at cheap price. Everything you need for mexican grocery style shopping. I go take trips there once in awhile when i want to cook Mexican food. Great for making fajitas and stuff like that. They also have a restaurant built inside the carneceria which is superb! and authentic, not some sterliized cinco de mayo bull shit catering to white boner-stiffs. This is a place where tu tienes hablar en espanyol or get the hell out, and thats why i love it. I prefer this mercado to one accorss the street tertiro i think its called, cause it a lot cheaper. I used to live in a very mexican neighbohood in Chicago, and i was blown away at how similiar it was to my authentic experiences in Chicago. Nonetheless i was very happy to find this place. I recommend it to young people who want to cook fast, and cheap. The only kind of hangup is that the area is a bit sketchy, very bohemian, and artsy, but do be smart about when you go there, and where you park. Its an up and coming neighborhood. Be smart and safe, and dont dress up like a yuppy, put on flannel and grow a wicked hipster beard or something like that!

I been here a few times and always been fulfilled. Yesterday I went with a friend to watch the Mexico vs France soccer game which the patio was packed. This made me wary as I was scared the over all experience would be compromised. They found me a seat almost immediately and my first beverage came almost as fast. The service was great even though the patio and market was packed to the gills. My al pastor torta was great. When I was ready to pay out and I explained to my server I was on my way to work he expedited the process and I was on my way quickly. 5 stars on service and handling a busy day correctly and 4 stars on food.
