Great service. Nice bar with plenty of seats and an outdoor patio. Like the décor. Brick walls. Vintage. Mac n cheese is very filling.

Decent pub style menu. Drink prices are rather expensive and service was extremely slow.

Great food, fun atmosphere and good drinks! Do yourself a favor and try the Mac n cheese!!! Has a pub feel. if you sit at the corner it looks like a little cute furnace. They even have hard cider. which is hard to find at bars or pubs. Definitely a must when you’re in Slo!

Their Mac and Cheese is excellent. Get with a salad or several choices. Ribs are okay — but inexpensive. Service is friendly. Wide choice of [alcoholic] drinks.

Ok, so, I love cheese. Like, I could live off of cheese and bread, for real! Anyway, for whatever reason we ordered up a cheese fest when we walked in to the Black Sheep and I was not disappointed in the least! First off, the mozzarella sticks. Mmmm-mmm! Crunchy on the outside. Warm and gooey on the inside. Tasty pesto-marinara on the side! I don’t know that there’s a better way to do mozzarella sticks. So good. Next up, the Beefy Mac. It’s Mac & Cheese(uh, yes, please) plus BBQ Tri-Tip over the top. Topped with a little more cheese and melted to perfection under the broiler(I’m assuming here because that’s what it looked like haha). Anyway, so good. So, so, very, very good. I want some more now that I’m writing this review. The sweet BBQ sauce and the cheesy macaroni was the prefect combination, believe it or not! I cannot get over how good it was. And it was a huge portion! So cheesy and so good. Just yum! My son had a grilled cheese sandwich and fries. The grilled cheese was very good with a couple different types of cheeses and the fries were perfectly crispy as well. Overall, a great meal experience. Also, our server was fantastic, as was the feel of the place. It was loud and they played the most awesome music! It was a wonderful mix perfect for the great mix of people in the place. Their outdoor patio area in the back was a nice place to enjoy our meal although we moved inside when it started to drizzle. Great restaurant, great food, great service. Easy 5 stars from me.

This place is fantastic. Nicole is truly the best bartender in the world. The staff is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Mac and cheese is to die for. Fries are done the way fries should be… thin and crispy. Definitely a place to stop by by when in San Luis Obispo

That 1117 Burger. AMAZING!!! It was juicy and messy, but absolutely delicious. Made with their secret Guiness sauce, this one is a definite MUSTORDER. The fries were ehhhh, but I don’t really like skinny fries so thats a personal thing. The person I was with ordered Mac & Cheese and said it was phenomenal. Also, if you order the half nachos, its a MOUND of food. And some chips thrown in there. May want to ask for the chips on a separate plate for easier dining. Good food, friendly and quick service, and not too loud or busy. SLO’s bars have some of the best food around, so I highly recommend for everyone to check them out, including this place!

From the looks of this place you’d probably think the food isn’t good, but it’s REALLY good. And if you can, get a seat in the back patio, it’s cozy and not as loud as inside.(The tri-tip is better than Firestone, but don’t tell anyone it’s a secret).

This is a fun little spot. They specialize in Mac and cheese :). Happy hour specials are &1.50 off drafts and $ 2.00 wine. We watched the football game had a beer and buffalo Mac & cheese, which I highly recommend! Give it a try.

Me and my partner stopped here on the way to Santa Barbara because we were hungry and neither of us had been to SLO before. I imagined going to a wine bar but it’s like 945 pm so not much was open in terms of wine places. So we ended up here because it had an open kitchen. Thankfully! Because the food here was SO good! We shared a veggie Mac and cheese that was the freakin best Mac and cheese I think I’ve ever had in a restaurant, and a western burger sub turkey with chicken tortilla soup as the side. The burger was super amazing too! The soup was really good, especially since usually chicken tortilla soup is not the house soup. If I ever come back to SLO I would definitely come here again! And next time I will wait for the spot with the cozy looking fireplace in the corner.

Delicious Mac & Cheese. Definitely get that if you eat here, plenty of options and additions to spice up the classic Mac & cheese. We got the BBQ tri-tip option, I kind of wanted to try the hot mamma, but I was being a wimp and thought it would be too spicy… Maybe next time if I am feeling adventurous. We also got the nachos when we were here, those were good too, but if you had to pick one over the other pick the macaroni. Good beer selection, nice staff, decent prices.

Close second to Buffalo Pub/Grill for our most favorite watering hole in SLO. Food is decent(I especially dig the nachos) and the pours are nice, but I mostly like BSheep for it’s quiet nature and warm ambience. Good view of the TVs from any barstool, and if you prefer a table, the two in the tree-shaded windows along the front entrance are a relaxing choice. Cheers! RL

I went out tonight with some girlfriends. We had a fine time until being harassed by a man simply for sitting in our seats, taking up space he didn’t seem to think we deserved to have. He was there with his wife, who promptly defended his position. While this isn’t exactly an irregular occurrence in general, it was disheartening when my friend asked the bartender for some support, and he replied«You’re both adults, figure it out.» As a woman in a male-dominated world, I despise the fact that I have to look to men for protection. However, when I feel it necessary to do so, it’s heartbreaking to receive such a passive response. The other patron felt that because he was a regular to the business, he was safe from any consequences. The bartender only affirmed his feelings, leaving my friends and I feeling unsupported and unsafe in the bar, so we left. I hope that the managers/owners take our experience seriously, so they know their female patrons must feel safe within their establishment if they’re going to return.

An exceptional spot for a nice drink and some gastropub fare. The mac and cheese is delicious(ask them to throw in some bacon and jalapeño). Also, the jalapeño + cheese fries are on point. They have a burger with a Guinness reduction that I am itching to try. The whiskey selection is decent and the clientele is mixed and in high volume(especially on weekend nights).

Yum. I decided to come here because my friends recommended that I try their pub mac and cheese. I love mac and cheese and have tried the Mac and cheese dishes at many other restaurants in SLO. Black Sheep’s pub mac and cheese is delicious. It is definitely one of the best in SLO(pub mac and cheese from Black Sheep and lobster mac and cheese from Pappy McGregor’s are my two favorite). Black Sheep’s mac and cheese is incredibly cheesy and creamy. It has this deliciously baked, semi crunchy top with extra creamy and tasty melted cheese and macaroni inside. The dish itself is really filling and also comes with a salad on the side. My boyfriend ordered the Black Sheep Guinness Burger with avocado and bacon added. The burger itself is already delicious and juicy but the avocado and bacon add just a little more to it. The fries are alright but the flavorful, Guinness dipped burger made up for slightly plain fries. The place itself isn’t very big. I was able to find a seat right away but wasn’t attended to shortly after sitting down. I heard that the place can get busy during peak lunch and dinner hours which is why I went in the middle of the afternoon. I was slightly disappointed with how long it took for our food and drink order to be taken. Fortunately, the mac and cheese made up for it. Additionally, there is structured parking right across the street as well as metered parking right in front which is nice. I would give 5 stars since the food was delicious; however, the service was slow(minus one star).

Black Sheep exemplifies what it means to be a bar. Unlike a lot of the other places in SLO, they don’t ‘fruity-up’ their drinks and the internal atmosphere is very welcoming yet the layout still allows for group seclusion. Because of its size, it can be difficult to find seating/chairs at times even if there is an open table. Another downside is that they don’t have a blender so don’t even think about ordering a piña colada or anything of that nature. Overall, Black Sheep has the friendliest bartenders who know what they’re doing. The drinks are well crafted. And the bar atmosphere makes for a fun, divey hang out spot.
