What makes a truly great kung fu school? I believe it’s all about the relationship between the teachers and students. What we found when my then-5-year-old first walked onto the mats was a caring family group — fellow students treating him like a new brother and a master who can be as gentle or firm as each student needs. Almost 2 years later, I have seen many more new«family» members join the school. The master Sifu pushes them to work hard. They can always do better, kick higher, run faster. And they do. My own 7-year-old has learned so much. He has improved strength, balance, and confidence. He’s expanded from traditional kung fu to wushu as well, and he eagerly awaits class each day. I can’t give much comparative information relative to other schools; we walked in the door at this one and were so happy with the environment we settled right in. But the school gives prospective students a free trial class(it’s a full, regular beginner class so the students can get a sense of things) so you can go in and decide for yourself.
