I live in Texas but have family in California. In Texas, the land of beef and fried foods, hummus is not something they eat or even know what it is. So there is no such thing as good hummus in Texas. On a visit to see family I spent a Saturday morning strolling the local Union City farmers market. Funny how a simple question like«would you like a sample» can effect not just you but a whole family. I tried the kale and almond hummus and it blew my mind! The health benefits of kale and the appetite suppressant benefits from the almonds make this one the best thing going. Pair this hummus with lemon pita chips and ohh my god it is amazing! I have my California family hooked on what my brother-in-law calls fancy bean dip. I bought three containers of hummus that Saturday morning and flew home on Monday and by Wednesday, I had called my sister to send me some via Fed Ex overnight. She called the # on the package and asked could she get some to send to me and they made it that morning for her. Now when I visit California everyone knows no matter what, Saturday morning I am at the farmers market getting my hummus fix to take home and if they are out of the kale and almond by time I get there — which has happened– we just call Hummus Heaven and they make it fresh and my sister ships it. The lady at the Union City farmer market calls me the Texas hummus lady which I see as a good thing :)

I had only ever had hummus once in my life before I tried Hummus Heaven and it was from a grocery store shelf… and it was AWFUL! We walked by the Hummus Heaven booth at the Salinas Farmer’s Market and the owner had asked if we wanted a sample. Not wanting to be rude, I accepted even though I knew in my head that I didn’t like hummus. Oooooh man, SO glad I took the sample! Now I know what real hummus can be and it is soooo amazing! I ended up sampling a lot of flavors and walked away with 4 containers of hummus and 2 packages of pita bread. I still can’t pick my favorite flavor, as they are all very tasty. So glad I got my mind changed!

My friend recommended I try this deliciousness at the Salinas Valley Food & Wine Festival this past weekend and seriously this is THEBEST hummus I have ever purchased. I typically make my own and try to get creative with it, but the samples I had and the 2 kinds I purchased are way better than anything I’ve tried to make! Seek these guys out at your local festivals and try this healthy yummy goodness… you will not be disappointed!

Fantastic Hummus! I found it at the farmers market at the Kaiser Medical Center parking lot in San Jose on Saturdays. It is at the top of the chart for flavor, variety and freshness. It is the real deal.

Habanero hummus is mind boggling. How do they get all those flavors to blend so well? Garlic pita chips are essential for pairing.

It’s become a Monday ritual to gather orders for a lunchtime group hummus buy at the Fremont center farmers market. The friendly guys will be sure to remind you each time their artichoke hummus and tomato basil garlic spread are their most popular — for good reason, they’re delicious! $ 6 each or 3 for $ 15

Hummus… I think this is a gateway food to vegetarianism. When I eat hummus I feel satisfied and don’t really think about meat. Heck, I even have been known to dip a carrot or two in the stuff and eat that as a meal. So, when I saw Hummus Heaven at the Thursday Night Farmers Market in Livermore I thought it might be a vegetarian plot to recruit me. I took the bait… The man working the stand was really helpful and asked questions to steer me in the right direction. «Do you like spicy?»…Yuppers! He gave me a sample of the Habanero Salsa Hummus and yes it was spicy. The good kind of spicy where you get the sniffles a little bit but can still taste all the other flavors. I was sold and ready to hand over my $ 6 and leave before I got in too deep. «Do you like garlic?»…yaaa huh! «What about spinach?»…ahh he knows all the non-meaty things I like! So before I knew it I spent $ 15 on hummus(you get a price break on three). The hummus is fantastic. Great consistency and full of flavor but it is expensive at $ 6 for 8oz or 3 for $ 15. He has creative flavors I can’t easily get anywhere else so I will see it as a convenience fee since I go to the Farmers Market often. I like the idea that he will let me try as many samples as I wish to make sure that I enjoy what I purchase. He also gave me ideas on how to incorporate it into more of my dishes at home.

The best hummus I’ve had in the United States! I buy at least one container a week. These guys are super friendly, and are always very generous with their free samples at the Fort Mason Farmers Market. Try the artichoke hummus(their best seller) and their spinach and feta hummus(my personal favorite)!

It’s heaven!!! Literally! Made in San Leandro, but they had a stand set up at the Willow Glen Farmers Market which is where I tried this. The man who makes and sells the hummus is extremely helpful! My girlfriend was just looking and he saw what we were looking at and handed us both samples before we knew it. He let us sample pretty much every single one without us having to ask for any. Every one was delicious! Even for people who don’t usually like hummus, like my girlfriend and her dad, loved this. It’s different from other hummus because these have such strong, different flavors. It doesn’t feel like you’re eating just another garbanzo bean spread. He even has an avocado cilantro one which is great because you get the health benefits from hummus but the deliciousness of avocado that we love. They even have 2 different kinds of pita chips that you can also sample!

Was at the Oakland Jack London farmers market. The young guy who was there with super helpful, let me try whatever samples I wanted and suggested ones I should try, I was having brunch with my family so I asked him how late he was going to be open he said 2pm. Told him if he was still open I’d come back and grab something. Was about 2:30PM and he still open so I ran right over and grabbed some of the avocado cilantro hummus and a bag of the garlic pita chips. Cost me about $ 11, price isn’t too bad especially if you are helping local business and if it’s really good hummus, one of the best of ever had. Defiantly will come back again if I ever get a chance.

Every Thursday at SFSU’s Farmer’s Market I buy a bag of Garlic and Herb Pita Chips and a Spicy Harissa Hummus. I get carried away munching on it, that I forget to share with my family! Always a must buy when I see them at different farmer’s markets in the Bay Area.

Happened upon these guys at the farmers market at UCSF. I tried a couple different varieties and moved on. The flavors stayed with me and I had to go back. Excellent hummus with a ton of different flavors. I am not veggie or vegan, and this stuff was still super tasty. If you get the chance, give these guys a chance!

Their hummus is HELLA good, I bought some last week at the Jack London Farmers Market. I’m sooo sad I forgot to buy some today! I wonder if they have a storefront where I can buy their hummus?

I went to Kaiser in Union City last Tuesday, and after the appointment was drawn into the Hummus Heaven stand at the farmer’s market. I usually don’t accept free samples(because I likely won’t buy and don’t want to give false hope), but I gave in. The Hummus and spreads are to diiieee for. I don’t know who the other reviewers were complaining about, the young man at this farmer’s market was very charming. I ended up buying 3 hummus’s/spreads(someone else complained that they were overcharged; it’s likely that they paid full price, $ 6, and not the discounted price of $ 5 that you get when you buy three) and a bag of pita bread. Sooooo worth it, since chips give me heartburn. The habonero hummus really isn’t that spicy for people who are used to spicy foods, so don’t let it scare you! The Tomato Basil spread was incredible, and I’m looking forward to getting more.

Habanero hummus is the one if you’re about that spice life. Definitely has a kick that lingers. I would’ve originally went with the best seller which is artichoke dip, but the sample of the habanero changed the game. Next time artichoke dip, next time.

Bought the hummus from the local farmers market. Too oily and gave me heartburn and a little too expensive. Seen better hummus and pita chips.

This is my favorite stop at the Union City farmer’s market. They make great hummus and chips and the guys who work here are a hoot and generous with the samples which I am sure pays itself off manyfold. The hummus flavors are unique and all very good. My favorites are the artichoke and garlic. Watch out for the one with the habenero, it is spicy! The chips are great too and a perfect accompaniment for the hummus. Apparently the owners are brothers from Tunisia and sell at a lot of farmer’s markets and looking to expand to stores as well. I wish them luck, they certainly have the product to make it big.

Somebody call the Hummus police, because Hummus shouldn’t be allowed to be THIS good. I found Hummus Heaven at the Stockton Weberstown Farmer’s Market that is there every Thursday from 8 am to 1pm. I had only decided to go because my friends bought 4 tubs of hummus from him and I literally swear, it was like a hummus CRACK party! I could not stop myself from reaching for the carrots to dip in more and more hummus. When I showed up, it was a pretty plain stand, but don’t let that fool you! He has a tray of ice with tubs and tubs of homemade hummus for you to try. Avocado cilantro, Artichoke, Lemon, Beet, Baked tofu salad. EVERYHING! I probably tried almost everything there with the small samples of homemade pita chips he gave to me. I had a hard time choosing, but finally went with the Artichoke hummus and the Tomato Basil hummus. His hummus is extremely fresh tasting with just the right amount of kick! The texture is super creamy and definitely well made. The baked tofu salad comes in a tub too and isn’t too bad and has a Mediterranean kind of feel to it but wasn’t toooooo appealing to me. He also sells a delicious roasted red pepper mayonnaise substitute for all the vegans out there. The hummus go for $ 5 for one tub, $ 9 for two, and $ 15 for 4 tubs. Not too bad for homemade hummus, and they last about a month! He also sells bags of homemade pita chips which are super crunch and not salty at all! If you’re looking for any type of homemade hummus, come here. I’ve never seen so many different types of hummus in my life and look forward to buying a tub of each one eventually! I like to eat it with carrots as dip and I promise you I almost finished the entire tub I bought today already. Definitely worth every penny, even though a little bit pricier than the hummus at Trader Joe’s, it’s WELLWORTHIT!
