I was standing in line here the other day when a cashier(younger Latina girl in her early 20’s) demanded ID from an elderly person who was trying to buy a 12 pack of beer. The guy was clearly over the age of 70. The poor man thought she was joking at first. When he realized she wasn’t, he had to leave in humiliation because he had forgotten his ID. What makes this frustrating is that it is not in fact illegal to sell alcohol to people without ID; it is illegal to sell to people who are under the age of 21. So if someone is clearly over the age of 30, employees do have the leeway to allow them to make the purchase regardless of whether or not they have ID. This was not the first or the last time I witnessed employees at this RiteAid behaving this way. Another employee named Doug is a guy who is sometimes very friendly, and other times condescending. It is genuinely a crap shoot what you will get when you walk into this store in terms of interaction with the employees. Because of the employees’ attitudes and the ridiculous carding policies of this store, I would highly recommend you avoid it. Try your luck elsewhere.
