Great food. Always fresh and love the fresh made chips. A good place to always feel full.

Been coming here for a while. Lady working started charging $ 0.25 for measly little salsas? Really? One tiny cup of salsa for a huge burrito. I don’t mind tipping $ 2-$ 3 every time but don’t nickel and dime me. You’ll lose my tip and business. Go back and learn how to properly excel at sales and marketing.

Who doesn’t love an authentic carne asada taco for $ 2? I’ve tried some other dishes here, but I do have to say that my all time favorite would be the tacos. The meat has very good flavor, but every so often it does come out slightly over cooked. But hey, for 2 bucks it’s not end of the world for slightly charred steak! Location: Ehhhhh…(No sugar coating here) SUCKS! Parking: SUCKS! The restaurant itself is a bit dated, but it is well kept. If Christy A. did her bathroom inspection/photo shoot, they would definitely FAIL! But hey, I come here for the tacos, and not for the ambiance. Side note: If for some reason you walk into this place pissed off because it took you 10 minutes to park, the Vietnamese sandwich spot next door is pretty good.(Just sayn’ — LOL) Conclusion: Great authentic tacos for a couple of bucks! Just try and show up at an odd hour, so you don’t have to deal with parking and the occasional riffraff.

Best Mexican food in SJ hands down. When people ask me for authentic, delicious Mexican food, this is my go-to. Homemade, authentic, no pretenses or pomp, delicious, good prices. My family orders trays of fajitas for family events from here often and they never disappoint. Tacos, burritos, try the chiles rellenos! I’ve tried about half the menu with no regrets. I can’t say enough good things about this place. The only negative is that it is CASHONLY but the food is so good that it totally makes up for that.

Place is small but nice, clean and everyone who works there was super friendly. Food is excellent!!! Huge portions, fresh and well prepared. They only take cash which I dont like but they do have an ATM inside. You can sit inside or outside, they have a nice umbrella out there in case it get too hot. Prices are good and compared to the quality and portions, it’s the best deal in town. Overall the atmosphere is low key and you feel like you are sitting in your Aunt’s kitchen waiting for your favorite dish!!! I will go back!

I get so disappointed when I eat sub-par Mexican food. It just slowly kills me inside. The only plus is that the employees are friendly. Burrito was oversized and split open forcing me to eat it with a fork and knife(which I really hate doing to a burrito). But before we even get there, I noticed signs around the register area that say chips are 3.00 for takeout orders and salsa is 25 cents per small cup. Wait whaaaaaaat? Maybe I’m a little spoiled with the taquerias up in SF but I never have to pay for chips. They try to get you to dine in their restaurant by offering free chips to those who choose to eat there. But if you get takeout, don’t even think about complementary tortilla chips with your meal. My favorite taquerias have salsa bars. Like unlimited, good ol’ spicy salsas with limes, pickled carrots, pico de gallo, and the orange salsa that’s way too spicy but way too good to not burn your mouth for. How greedy for money do you have to be to charge a quarter for every small cup of salsa that I ask for? ONTOP of the $ 3 chip bag I just bought. Uh, no thanks. I’ll go back to Pancho Villa in San Mateo or Taqueria Guadalajara in SF for my perfectly wrapped super burritos, complementary chips, and eat-until-you-breathe-fire salsas.

If you’re craving authentic Mexican food and La Costa is closed cause it’s midnight and you don’t wanna wait in the long ass drive-thru line at Jalisco’s, THISISDEFYOURPLACETOBE. No but forreal sometimes I want to sit and chill with my friends after we get off work really late and eat some bomb ass chips and salsa and tacos and this is the place we go to. The customer service is on point even at 1AM. If you don’t feel for Mexican food, my friends always get the burgers which I’ve never tried but they said its pretty damn good.

They’re burritos are huge and go for 6 to 8 dollars. Fatter and way more flavor than most taquerias. Don’t be basic and go to chipotle, this spot has a lot of choices.

(Maybe more like 3.5 stars) Came here over the weekend with the bf b/c we were craving tacos… we always drive past this place, so we thought we’d try it out that day… Cash only fyi… Staff is friendly, but a tad bit slow considering the fact there wasn’t many people there in the afternoon… it’s okay though b/c they were nice… Our orders: –Complimentary chips and salsa – their red salsa, by far, is one of the spiciest salsas I’ve ever tasted… I couldn’t handle it lol… that’s just me though… –The bf ordered a huge burrito with al pastor meat… he killed the burrito of course haha… he said the burrito was good overall, but he should have stuck with getting the carne asada as recommended by other Unilocalers… –I ordered four tacos($ 2 each): 1 pollo, 1 al pastor, and 2 carne asada on corn tortilla… I should have held off on the salsa deng it… my mouth and throat were on fire by the time I finished my tacos… I had to order a horchata to neutralize it… which was good anyway b/c their horchata is good. Out of all the tacos, the carne asada was the best tasting… the pollo was too wet for me, it tasted okay, but I prefer grilled chicken… the al pastor was okay as well… it had that sweet/savory to it, but it wasn’t my cup of tea… Overall dining experience was good, but if I were to crave tacos, this probably wouldn’t be my place of choice.

Been here a couple times. So far the only thing I’ve liked from here was the burritos and tacos. I tried their camarones a LA diabla and they weren’t even hot more like ketchup tasting. I had the enchilada plate just last week. the red sauce tasted out the can and I found this little black rubber piece in the beans :/

Located in a busy shopping center you will find this small taqueria. The place is known because its open until 1am. We went to this place because I was on the hunt for tortas ahogadas and someone recommended this location. There is a variety of dishes and breakfast is offered all day. The chips and salsa is on point. The salsa is freshly made, its tasty(you can taste the fresh cilanto and oregano.) My torta was ok, not what I have had before but close enough. My fiancé ordered a breakfast burrito, egg and potato. He wasn’t impressed, he said that the potatoes they used were more like fries and not actual potatoes. Service is great, the ladies are very friendly. It seemed to be a very popular place, there seemed to be a pretty steady flow. I think we would like to go back and try a different dish.

The food here is delicious. The food has that homemade taste, a definite plus. This is your go to for authentic Mexican food. It is a small place and sometimes it’s hard to communicate with some of the servers, but I’ve always had an overall great experience here. Also, the chips and salsa are spot on, perfect snack while you wait. Food recommendations: Flautas — a must get! I just have to order it every time I’m here! Tacos — small but tasty Super burrito — it’s HUGE and good! Chicken Calderon(if that’s how it’s spelt) — taste just like home made chicken soup. Ceviche tostada Still trying to explore/try more items on the menu. Will try to share pictures next time I check in, but I will definitely be coming back again!

Just went there tonight. I actually wanted to try the new Vietnamese sandwich next door, but the smell of the food coming out from this place lured me in. The woman who took my order was very sweet and helpful. She explained to me the different ingredients in several items on the menu. Finally, I decided to have the Chicken Super Taco and the Steak Super Taco and it only costs $ 5.50. I took the food to go, but it was still warm by the time I got home. Both tacos are big and filled with a lot of meat, salsa, guacamole, sour cream and bean. More importantly, they taste very good. They also included 3 wedges of lime and extra salsa in my bag. It’s hard to find places with good customer service nowadays. So for good food with good price and very friendly customer service, I’ll definitely come back again and again.

This place is authentic, inexpensive, and super tasty! I visit San Jo every so often cause my mom is here. When I’m in town, I always come by this place. Put it this way, I drive 15 miles out of my way just to come here, it’s that good. Highly recommended.

I love mexican food! I love their chips n salsa here. Fucking amazeballs!!! My girl n I come here often. Be prepared to sweat when you’re in here cuz they don’t have ac. They prop the back door open n have a couple fans running. Also be prepared to see drunk mexican guys eating in the back. Haha. When we went here this one time there was a drunk mexican guy sitting in the back. Probably had a few too many beers n he kept talking to this guy sitting next to him who clearly did not want to talk to him. He kept ignoring the guy but the guy kept on talking to him. It was pretty entertaining.

I’ve come here a couple of times just because I was hungry. I should probably go more often(I live nearby). They give you generous portions & I’ve always been pleased with the service. The last thing I remember ordering was a Steak a La Mexicana plate. The peppers and beef were just great, and your standard fare of frijoles, rice, & salad was prepared well. The large horchata I washed it down with was not too sugary, a problem I find with many restaurants’ aguas frescas. A good amount of indoor and outdoor seating is available, since there’s never really anyone here. You should keep the traffic around Story & McLaughlin in mind though, especially since Tacos Autlense is near Lion Market.

I told my buddy that he has a new favorite Mexican place and he’s never even been there! I had been in San Fran until evening, sunburnt, hurting, and tired, I fell asleep. When I woke I was looking for my second meal of the day. There is a McDonald’s outside the motel. Gaaaah! I thought about Carl’s Jr(always a service disaster), Jack in the Box(inconsistent between stores), In ‘n’ Out(no tacos) but I headed for a Carl’s Jr. anyway and ended up looking for something else, anything else. I was headed back to the old neighborhood and saw this place and almost didn’t stop in time. I think I will always be thankful for taking a break from the usual. My buddy had sent me to Metro Balderas, which was good, and he wanted me to visit Iguanas, similarly south of downtown. This place was so much better than Metro Balderas on Almaden that I may never return there. I’m thinking that it’s so good that he should never return there, either. Was it the salsa, the freshly fried tortillas, or that taste of home?(Yes, I’m Japanese but my adoptive mum made tacos about once a week.) I got three tacos with carne asada(grilled beef/roasted beef) and they were just amazing. The tortillas were probably a bit oily but that’s like the way I fry my own. I wish they could open thousands of locations across the country because this is what people need instead of Taco Bell or Chipotle.
