— Weird location — Fish was fresh but the rolls were just ok — They put teriyaki sauce on just about everything I ordered — Karaage was just aiight. After trying karaage from Orenchi Ramen, that bar is set pretty high. — Service definitely gets 5 stars, but I came here for sushi. — Mad expensive for ok sushi My conclusion, you’ll get better sushi at much cheaper prices at Kazoo. I really want to give them 2 stars, but I’ll admit I probably ordered the wrong rolls. And at the end of the day, the owners/working were genuinely nice people. Maybe you’ll have better luck. Other than the karaage, I can’t remember the rolls I ordered.

I can’t believe they’re closed. It’s been a couple years since I last went. Does anybody know what happened to the owners? Email me if you know anything

I wanted to like the place because of the pictures of the chirashi bowl. The restaurant was kind of warm and didn’t have air conditioning. The service was nice but slightly slow considering that there weren’t that many customers in the restaurant even during a Friday lunch hour. I didn’t like the chirashi bowl I had. The yellowtail sashimi looked old and rough. The tuna and salmon slices were small. The slices might have tasted somewhat fresh, but they didn’t seem as fresh when I saw it in person. I had some tempura as well. It felt more fried than tempura I’ve had. It wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t much to remember. There also wasn’t much tempura sauce to the amount of tempura given. Parking is extremely limited. It’s also hard to get back out once you’re nicely tucked in.

Every time my Dad is in town, he requests to go to sushi. I needed to find a place close to where he was staying, and this place came up. I skimmed the reviews, but it seemed good enough. It’s not exactly in the nicest part of town, but we gave it a shot. The place is small and unassuming from the outside, but TONS of parking in the back lot. I didn’t know this, but my Dad had been coming to this place since 1992, and the place still stands. That says something about the restaurant! Our waitress was so very sweet, and was joking around with us. We ordered tons of nigiri and a few rolls. The rolls were warm, which was kind of weird. I usually expect cold rolls, so it took me by surprise each time I had a roll. Restaurant is very traditional, small, but does the job. We didn’t have to wait too long for food, and got complimentary seaweed salad. Cool little hole in the wall sushi place.

I’ve dined here twice now, and I like it. I don’t hate it and I don’t love it. What I do love is that they are located in my neighborhood! The hawaiian poke is good to try. It’s totally drenched in a sweet soy sauce with square sized tuna sashimi. I ordered the salmon teriyaki bento box with hamachi and I liked it. The salmon was although a small portion, it had a good thickness about it and was cooked moist(most places cook it dry) and the teriyaki sauce was not overwhelmingly sweet. Just the way I like it! The hamachi sashimi was fresh and it came in 4 pieces. I finished lunch off with the green tea ice cream for dessert! I think it should come with the meal, but $ 2.50 isn’t too bad! I will definitely make this my to go place for lunch!

Pro: Decent taste and food quality Reasonable price Simple clean bright interior Ample spacious parking in rear with entrance Friendly workers(Except the waitress) Con: Service is hit/miss. Waitress probably doesn’t know their menu too well. Been there twice so far, once for take-out, and once for weekday lunch. Both times did not experience slow kitchen/food mix up issues. So far we enjoy their Godzilla roll, Mt. Fuji roll and Gyoza. Both rolls are very tasty with generous ingredient. Their roll have less rice compare to other places, which is a plus. Sauce is just the right amount, not too drenchy. Their Gyoza is surprisingly good. Very crispy on the outside; generous filling on the inside with just the right flavor. Normally I would dip it in sauce, not theirs. I would stay away from their beef dish. We had the beef teriyaki, and it was very chewy. Great portion, but chewy. Not sure about their Beef sukiyaki, will try it next time. If you are happen to be in the area and need a quick sushi fix on a budget, this is no doubt one of the best place in the area.

The godzilla roll is outstanding. Our favorite so far! The poke is good too. Small location, but good service and good food.

Since I have class in the area and wanted some sushi for lunch, this was the closest place without breaking the bank. When I walked in, my first impression was that it’s nice, decent place for a Japanese sushi restaurant(we all know most sushi places are small and cramped). I decided to order to go since an hour lunch wouldn’t be enough time to sit and eat. As I put in my order, the server told me that it would be a 25 minute wait. I was okay with that considering it’s lunch hour(even though tables weren’t filled yet). So I sit down and waited patiently for my food.(I only ordered one roll and the chicken Kara-age). 20 minutes goes by, no sign of food. At this time, phone rings and I heard him mentioning that the wait for food would be at minimum 45 minutes wait(I look around and the place isn’t even packed! Guess the kitchen is just slow). Half an hour passes still nothing. 35 minutes later, server comes up to me and asks how many chopsticks I need… odd question considering I ordered only one roll. Anyways I answered him thinking my order is done, but nope still nothing. By now my patience is wearing thin. Finally after 45 freaking minutes later, I get my Togo food!!! By now I have 15 minutes to get back to class with barely any time to eat. So I head back and first tried the Kara-age. It was alright to say the least. The pieces are big, but portion is stingy. It was crunchy and not oily so that’s where the two stars came from. The sushi roll(I think I ordered the fire dragon or something) lacked a lot of flavor. This place gave spicy tuna a whole different meaning. We all know spicy tuna is diced up, mixed with some seasoning/flavoring right? Wrong. This place definition is a slice of tuna on top and some«hot sauce» squeezed on top which did not go well together. I was very disappointed that I waited 45 mins for a simple sushi roll and some deep fried chicken that any other place can serve in half that time AND Make it more tasteful. Oh maybe I forgot that maybe the people were Vietnamese might have something to so with the slowness of it? Or maybe there was probably 5 people total working? I don’t know and I don’t care. I don’t plan on coming back to this place ever. Overall: food: below par, customer service: lacking, wait time: super long, so I hope you’re in no rush.

I hate to do this because I like supporting local businesses, but I was very unhappy with my recent visit to Sushi Coast. Stopped in one night with my husband and two boys since we live just down the block. I just wanted to place a quick nigiri order togo and it turned into one of the longest waits for food I’ve ever had in a sushi restaurant. Nigiri is quick, its a ball of rice and a slice of fish… How much simpler can it get? I’ve had the same type of order come out in less that 10 minutes and much busier restaurants. The restaurant was not busy at all. A table with two business women who already had their food and another family of four with a screaming toddler. I get it, I understand the crazy kid situation. This is exactly why I wanted my order togo. Placed my order and sat down to wait. We waited and waited and waited for over 30 minutes. They didn’t even offer us any water to drink while we waited. Then my order is finally ready and the gentlemen who took my order lets me know he miscalculated my bill and he had to void the charge and run my card again. Wtf! How hard is it to ring someone up right the first time. But the fact that I’ve been sitting right here for half and hour with my restless kids and you are just bringing this to my attention now! As far as I’m concerned they should have just taken the loss on that one. It was a single $ 4 order of nigiri on a $ 50 tab, you already more than made your money back from me. But that additional five minutes of hassle you just gave me was the nail in your coffin of me definately not returning. There are way too many sushi options in the area for you to think there is room for error when it comes to keeping customers. Now on to the food. These were quite possibly the smallest servings of nigiri I’ve ever had but they charge more than other establishments. The quality and freshness varied among the different slices of fish. I was disappointed to say the least. Now for the surprise ending. Never before have I had a bad reaction to sushi(which I eat on a regular basis and I’ve been to plenty of different restaurants). I was sick for a day and a half after eating here. NEVERAGAIN!

Started this new ritual w/my daughter. I want her to start learning new stuff but I am not a «fun» parent. I can cook, bake, teach her to workout properly, and take them to games but when it comes to mind enriching activities, other than have her read or volunteer w/me, I was stumped. The new ritual is: each week she picks a country she would like to learn. Either she gets to use my iPad to look up information on that country or we go to the library or local bookstore then we go out to eat that cuisine. Nothing against Japanese food but I hardly eat Asian food and to top that off, I do not do seafood and certainly not into sushi whatsoever. I am currently not eating anything fried either so my choices were slim to none. I wish I ordered a nothing, actually. Seated fairly quickly and glad that the restaurant was empty. We were seated, no high chair brought to the table. Negative. The only thing on the table was a menu strip checklist for sushi and rolls. Halfway through, I noticed they have an actual menu for non-sushi eaters. Fuckin’ negative. My daughter ordered: sweet shrimp, octopus, CA rolls, and the soft shell crab. I ordered the Godzilla(safest choice) and a side of rice for the boy. We waited over 20 minutes for a plate to come out. When I asked, the server had to go back to check what was on the plate. My peeve is, if you are going to hire a server, that server better know the menu and what is being served. I almost asked, «You don’t know what the hell is on this plate?» Another goddamn fuckin’ negative. So it was after that, everything just pissed me off. Once everything was out, it was then that the plates were brought out. Luckily my daughter and I aren’t messy eaters. My boy’s rice was never brought out. I didn’t even want to bother w/it. Another freakin’ negative. A meal that shouldn’t take longer than an hour took almost 2 hours. The wait, the cost isn’t an issue but it is an issue if the meal sucked like hell. My daughter liked the sweet shrimp, CA rolls, and octopus. She said the soft shell crab tasted weird. Shrugs. My Godzilla, the one I ate just 4 pieces of was OK. I seriously did not know what I ate. One good outcome: she learned about Japan through the magic of wi-fi via my iPad. Can’t live w/o these luxuries(iPhone/iPad).

Honestly, I was expecting A LOT better! My co-worker and I went there on Friday and let me tell you, I eat sushi a lot. Let’s start with the Customer Service skills, I give them a 3 out of 10. We came in and I asked for a booth but they almost didn’t give it to us, I would understand if they’re busy and they didn’t have available booths but there was literally 3 other customers other than us. They didn’t bring us water, when they did the glass had water stains on them. They asked us to order with 2 minutes of us sitting down bc the kitchen was going I close at 2 and we had to ask for 2 more minutes so we can look over the menu. I ordered edamame and they didn’t bring us plates, when I finally asked for edamame, it was over heated in the microwave. But back to the plate, after I asked for plates to be brought to us, they bring me a dirty plate. We asked for a coke and a diet coke and they brought us two regular cokes after thy are writing down our order. After all this wasn’t enough, I asked for 2 rolls and made it known I didn’t want Tabiko or any eel they bring out one of my rolls with Tabiko. Overall, my experience here: 2 out of 10 I would NEVER go back, waste of my money. Btw, the bathrooms weren’t clean.

I am a little surprised to have had such a bad experience here after reading all the decent reviews beforehand. I walked in at an off hour so the service was very fast and friendly, by the food was another story. The first dish to arrive on my tabletop was a standard miso soup. The soup itself was fine but the tofu tasted metallic-y and off like it had gone bad. I have never experienced that in all my years of consistently going to sushi houses and drinking miso soup. I also ordered a seaweed salad which was very standard. for my entrée, I got the deluxe, 10 piece sashimi platter. The pieces were all very small and when I bit into the pieces of fish, I was shocked to find their varying states of temperature. The first piece of fish I tried was still in the process of defrosting as there were crunchy ice crystals with every bite embedded in the meat. Moving on to the tuna, I found it was warm. Not room temperature but warm. Raw fish should never feel warm because bacteria associated with raw meat flourish in warmth! The salmon was the only decent tasting pieces on my plate.

This place was very meh. From the building itself to the food and everything in between(price, service, etc.) everything was average or below average. Came here with a friend and he said the food portions are getting smaller and smaller. I also noticed the prices listed on the menu were all $ 1 more expensive than what is listed online. Don’t think I’ll be back. Especially with other better Japanese food options in the area.

No bad, but not really good either. After an incredibly long day at work the boy and I dropped in for a quick bite before heading back to crash. The space is fairly small. I mean I have seen larger areas from hotel sushi bars. That being said the service was nondescript for there only being two other people in the joint. Make of that what you will. The food was quite tasty and the price was right but I doubt I’ll ever head back. It’s just too small, it lacks the boats that make me happy and the service wasn’t awesome enough to bring me back. Ah well… yay sushi.

Have been to this Sushi place quite a few times and have discovered that if you just stick to the sushi, you are fine but if you order anything else, it may not be so great. We made the mistake of ordering a chicken teriyaki and it tasted weird! I love the Godzilla, the spicy tuna and the Philadelphia roll. They are dellllllicious! 4 stars for the sushi. However, the service can be a little slow and laid back. Its close enough for my sudden sushi cravings so I would go back for more.

The service is excellent… poor waitress was running around everywhere as she was the only one working during dinner rush hour, but she never failed to help us with a big SMILE! :) Food is only so so, but I’m pretty spoiled on LA food and I don’t know if there are any better places in norcal. The chirashi was small and fish not as fresh as I’d like… the soft shell crab appetizer was not bad, but not as crispy as it should be. Honestly, food-wise this is more of a 2, but the lady was such a sweetheart I had to give her one more star!

Its a seriously non assuming, no flash, boring looking Japanese Restaurant outside. I must have driven by at least sixty times. Inside is the bare minimum in décor as well. Nothing fancy. The FOOD is something to talk about! Looking at their very simple menu you wouldn’t know that this place serves one of the freshest fish, innovative dish and no nonsense approach to customer service. We had the Hawaiian Sashimi Plate with spicy sauce. I was surprised by the amount of fresh fish in the bowl. It could be easily shared by two people. It came mixed with a small amount of squid that gave the dish some added texture. The spicy sauce was a big hit. It was a perfect blend of hot and mild sweetness. Just enough to give it that edge. We also had the California Roll and Dragon Roll. Both equally fresh and attractive looking. The miso soup was perfect. Not salty and hot. The small salad was to die for! We both wanted more. It was sweet and savory sliced cucumber topped with seaweeds. One of the best I’ve tasted. The lone female staff that served us was an older lady who was very polite, attentive and efficient. She served us some green tea and was back for more refills in time. For two the total was: $ 40 with tip. The Hawaiian Sashimi Plate was $ 12.00 by itself. There was a private dining area to your left as you walk in. I will have to check that out soon. Parking is to the back of the restaurant but if you get in early there’s two spots right in front. VIP all the way!

WOWZA, this place is a diamond in the rough! We randomly picked this place using the Unilocal App & figured«what the hell!». When we got there, the parking was extremely small and the place seemed a little ghetto. I actually felt like we chose the wrong place. As we walked in, we were the only ones there. We were greeted by the very nice lady. They gave us some cucumber salad in the beginning, which was pretty good. We only ordered two rolls and they were 10 pieces each and it filled us up! The food was so good, we were both surprised! It was my first time trying the dragon roll with raw unagi and it was so good! I can’t wait to come back! I think i might have found my new favorite sushi joint!
