I’ve been to Smashburger three times. One visit was in Colorado and the other two were right here in San Jose at 579 Coleman Avenue. My first visit was just whatever. The past two visits were even worse. I had the same cashier both times – a dark haired gentleman with glasses. After receiving the receipt for my order, I said, «Thank you.» Both times, the guy said nothing to me and just waited for me to walk away. «You’re welcome,» «my pleasure,» or «no, thank you» would have been nice and appreciated. I noticed that the same guy that was at the register prepared the two shakes that my wife and I ordered. Why is it that the same guy that’s handling money is also preparing food without washing his hands first? The burger was good – not great but good. The milkshake was awful. It was basically flavored milk as it lacked thickness.

Not just you regular fast food hamburger joint ! Smash burger is a cut above. I have tried serve real places like The Habit, The Counter &Five Guys. I found Smashburger to be excellent interesting tasty change. I actually work very close so I stopped by for lunch. My experience was ordering went fast. Nice to see an experienced cashier. I decided to have a seat and relax on my lunch. They bring the order to you. As I was waiting, I noticed a young girl cleaning up the tables for the next customer. She actually even asked me if I wanted any sauces to try with my order. She was very nice. My order came out really fast. I ordered just a regular cheese burger with the garlic fries ! Mmmmm Tasty from the meat to the soft bun. My garlic fries, shoe string where such a cut above the regular. After checking out some Unilocal pics I really want to come back and try some more creative burgers.

The night we came in, the menu boards with the pricing were out so it was hard to order. I was a little frazzled having our kids with us. We ordered one kid’s meal and then I just wanted to order a lone hot dog for our one year old. I didn’t want to order her a whole meal but they wouldn’t let me order just a plain hot dog. Overall I thought the food was good but it seemed kind of pricey for what it was. The french fries are delicious and I would like to come back and try some of the flavored ones. I couldn’t help but think it wasn’t as good as in n out but was a lot more money. I did like the freshness of the hamburger patty. I don’t know if we’ll be back.

Decent burgers. The cashier asked if we wanted everything on the buyer, we said«yes» an then received nothing on the burger. Their garlic fries also did not have any actual garlic on them, which was a little disappointing. Other than that, everything tasted great, and would eat here again!

I haven’t had a burger from here in a while, but I do remember it being very tasty and being SUPER juicy! With that in mind, I was ready to CHOWDOWN! I beat the lunch rush since I arrived at 11:30AM, so I was able to walk right up and order. I ordered the *Avocado Club* which comes with fresh avocado, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing & mayo on a multi-grain bun. My burger arrived in a bout 20 minutes or so, and I was ready to inhale it! Sadly, it was slightly warm, and extremely DRY! Not what I remembered from my last visit! Even with the ranch and mayo, it still wasn’t enough to pull it out of the desert! On a positive note, a worker by the name of Kevin asked me how my burger was. Me: «Funny you ask Kevin, it was not very good!» Kevin then asked if I wanted them to fire up a new one. As much as I wanted to say yes, I didn’t have enough time to wait for it. Kudos to Smashburger AND Kevin for executing excellent customer service! I know for a fact that they are capable of great burgers, but for now I have to rate that particular burger at 2 Stars. I’m pretty confident this rating will change on my next visit!

I’m a fairly predictable eater and am really not super adventurous, so once I am done right by an item on your menu, it’s what I’ll get again and again if I return. Despite some initial hang-ups, this is definitely the case with SmashBurger. This location is super convenient and I am almost always craving a burger so I have certainly been here my fair share. In the beginning, I had a little bit of a tumultuous relationship with SmashBurger because they rarely ever got my to-go order right, but after the kinks shook lose, it’s been smooth sailing for quite some time. Before recently, I had never really thought to go and NOT get a burger, but there are times now that I’ll find myself there for some pickle chips or their super tasty veggie sticks on their own. Sometimes service can be slow, but they are usually busy so it depends on the time of day you visit(like any restaurant, of course). All in all, I think SmashBurger and I are gonna make it work.

I’ve been here a few times. The avocado club sandwhich is amazing. The oreo milkshake is even better. They give you the rest that the made but couldn’t fit in the cup. The fries are thinly sliced so it’s an interesting eat. Definitely a place to go if you are tired of your average burger.

I love their smash burger! I always order the chicken egg bun burger customized with lettuce, jalapeño, cucumber, and pickles. Get their buffalo spicy fries! Their salad is delicious too with grilled chicken! The manager there is super nice too.

I love smash burger!!! I never had their hamburgers so I can’t give a rating for that BUT i always order the crispy chicken sandwich! I love it!!! It’s right next to me work so I grab this once in a while. They also have a really good garlic and olive oil fries. This burger place is in my top 5 favorite burger place.

I thought this would be similar to like a Habit style burger, but it was not. Super greasy for my taste. It’s also pricey given the quality so I probably won’t be back! I think the Unilocal reviews are pretty accurate overall, so before heading here, I’d recommend reading a few to see if this is what you’re looking for!

Don’t get me wrong. I love the smashBURGER. This review is for the kids hotdog menu. I bought it on Sunday and it was really busy at smashBurger that day(Halloween). But I think giving us a BURNT hotdog is unacceptable. It’s black. And I want my kid to eat it? Gee… How can you serve this when your burgers are so awesome. I was appalled. And no, my son did not eat it. Please let your kitchen staff know this is not the way to serve people.

I finally got the chance to try Smashburger and it was REALLYREALLYGOOD! If I’m ever at the mall I would literally go there first. I am a burger fries gal after all! They have a simple menu, but the burgers do not taste simple, it has a kick to it depending on what you get. You can also customize your burger if you’re picky. My burger was perfectly cooked but the fries were okay. But what compelled me to write a review was our patient cashier Preston? It was our first time and he was extremely kind and patient with us! If it wasn’t for him id probably would’ve gave this place 4 stars!

I want to go back! I have to sample half the menu…over time. So you get in line, order first and they bring your food to your table. On this particular trip I had to go light. I loved my Baja Cobb salad. Everyone at our table bit into their food with mmmm good knods followed by compliments. The crispy fries were like eating chips, you couldn’t stop once you got started. This is definitely a step up for a burger bar. Beer and burgers are my style.

Do you remember the scene in Pulp Fiction where Vincent(John Travolta) takes Mia(Uma Thurman) to the burger restaurant with the dance floor? Mia orders a five dollar milkshake and her escort Vincent is skeptical about how a milkshake could cost that much. VINCENT: Can I have a sip of that? I’d like to know what a five-dollar shake tastes like. MIA: Be my guest. VINCENT: Goshdarn! That’s a pretty effing good milk shake. MIA: Told ya. VINCENT: I don’t know if it’s worth five dollars, but it’s pretty effing good. Do you remember the Carl’s Jr. commercial with Paris Hilton eating a six-dollar burger while washing a car? Well a regular-sized smashburger is not five nor six dollars. It is seven dollars. I feel Smashburger’s seven-dollar Mushroom Swiss Truffle Burger is too expensive! But, I’m glad I tried it because it was delicious. It was fresh and the dollop of truffle mayonnaise was just the right consistency. The eggy bun was nice and soft. However, the burger is smaller than you’d expect. You’d get more mileage out of an In N Out Burger. After a few bites, you’re like, «What? That’s it?» and despite having just consumed 975 calories(I checked on the website), you’re still hungry. The beef patty is local and the service was efficient, I just don’t think I’d go again.

I don’t particularly like to write review updates, but I feel like this Smashburger(SB) deserves one. When I first visited SB, almost two years ago, I was blown away by the quality and taste of their burgers and shakes, and their terrific service. So much so, that I actually gave them a 5-star review – and I’m not ordinarily one to hand out 5-star reviews like Halloween candy. Unfortunately, my latest forays into SB have been less than stellar, and hardly deserving of my original rating. Let’s compare then-and-now: Burgers: Then: «The real star –as it should be– was the burger itself; it had such a deliciously strong beefy flavor, came out super juicy and the cook kept it just a bit pink(!) in the middle – which is perfect in my book.» Now: My burger was dry, overcooked and there was very little of that beefy flavor I fell in love with. I hope they didn’t take people’s gripes about their burgers being too«greasy»(read juicy) and start to overcook them. With that said, the bun and toppings were still good, but if the burger is no bueno then what’s the point? Shakes: Then: «The PB&J Shake was outstanding! It’s basically a Häagen-Dazs Strawberry Shake w/Nutter Butter cookies broken up inside it. It’s insanely good and I would highly recommend it.» Now: While it still tasted good, there was something a little bit«off» about it; it tasted a bit watered down and the flavors weren’t as bold as I remember them. Still pretty good, but hardly worth raving about. Service: Then: «The service is fast, efficient and friendly…» Now: I don’t particularly blame the workers themselves because they seem to be working hard; I think part of the problem is the MGMT isn’t hiring enough workers, or they’re not scheduling enough people in an effort to boost the bottom line. Either way, they only had what seemed like four people in total servicing a packed store and a line that was flowing out the door. They also completely spaced out our shakes, and made us wait almost 10 minutes *AFTER* we had finished eating our burgers and fries before they brought them out. Also, the apology seemed a bit half-assed and there was no attempt on their part to make us feel better about it – like say a coupon? In my opinion, restaraunts should always have some kind of coupon ready to go in case there’s a goof-up by the staff. Something as simple as a free side on our next visit goes a long way in smoothing things over. Overall, SB is dropping the ball. I thought they had a legit chance at one time of unseating In-N-Out as my favorite«fast food-style» burger, but it’s not even a competition, at this point. I even toyed with the idea of dropping my rating to 2-stars, but I think I will probably be back at some point – but not anytime soon.

This place was actually recommended to me by a friend and I decided to try it since I live near it and saw the burger that he ordered. I conveniently drove there and ordered the burger with jalapenos since I LOVE spicy food and LOVE jalapenos and ordered smashfries with it along with a drink! burger: 4⁄5 — the burger was neatly made. I could tell that it wasn’t rushed and it was presentable to open it having all the ingredients between the bun. Took a bite and instantly, the flavors swam around my palate and was highly satisfied. I could taste all the ingredients and the jalapenos’ spiciness level was perfect. smashfries: 4⁄5 — their fries were pretty great! You didn’t need to add any salt and/or pepper to it because the seasoning that it already had was at the right amount. Would I come back here? YAAAS! Would I recommend this to a friend? YAAAS! In my opinion, I liked it better than In-N-Out.

Make your own meal has been the craze as of late. This with its own twist in burgers. Came in with an open mind and a hungry belly. Pictures decided to make my decision for dinner. Order — Bbq bacon cheddar smash burger –with a fried egg. It was nice and juicy. The egg gave it that extra dimension as well. The onion strings were crispy and didn’t overcrowd the burger. Smash burger fries –a little too oily for my taste. Imagine dipping truffle fries or, drenching fries in oil. That’s the taste you get when biting into the fries. So, burger good, fries ok. Should’ve taken a shake to break the tie. Maybe next time.

I probably ordered the worst burger tht they had to offer. The buffalo. It came with blue cheese, on an egg bun. The buffalo sauce was used as a condiment. I kinda thought it would be nice in and cooked with the burger as well a the blue cheese. It was too salty for my liking and not enough spice. I also found that the egg bun it came on was really soggy. The patty is pretty thin and greasy. As for the haystack onion rings, they were salty and greasy as well. I guess I was expecting quality as of the counter burger. I tried the rosemary fries and that was much more healthy tasting than the onion rings. I would order that. I also found that the fries are very thin. The milk shake was very good. I was expecting more for the price. Generally, I was just expecting more. Especially for a 15 $ meal. I won’t return. I would no

So here’s my quick review for Salt burger, I mean Smash Burger. I ordered the Classic Smash burger with Spicy Buffalo Fries. It looked hella good and it would’ve probably tasted great; alas, if I could only get the overbearing taste of salt out of my mouth. It took two full cups of ice water to finish my burger and I couldn’t finish the fries. My friend couldn’t even finish his fried pickles because they tasted like salt cubes! I mean seriously, maybe today was an off day, but eating a delicious burger should be a phenomenal experience. Instead, I felt like I ran a marathon through the sand dunes of the Sahara desert because my mouth kept getting parched! I’m sorry but the food was just too damn salty for me to recommend. On the upside, the service was great and the décor wasn’t bad either. I really hope that today was just an off day. Last comment. Smashburger is located a few stores from Gamestop. Look at both of their trademark logos. They’re either owned by the same owner or we’ve got some incredible copyright infringement going on here. I hope someone patented the design or I smell a lawsuit.
