I can’t believe they closed. So much disappointment here. Now where am I gonna go if I don’t wanna drive all the way to the Boiling Crab? And Boiling Crab doesn’t have Creamy Basil and Garlic Butter! It’s all because they kept the stupid Hot Pot City Menu. –_– RIP.

After being back here a handful of time since their grand opening, I actually liked this place. I actually prefer this place over boiling crab because I like the variety in their sauces. My favorite is their creamy basil. I would usually get it with their shrimp or clams and sausage. Then next would be their creamy garlic which I kinda get sick of it. I wouldn’t recommend their Cajun sauce though… I think of you’re into the Cajun flavor then you’re better off going to boiling crab or craw daddy. The place is pretty spacious. I don’t think I ever had to actually wait for a table before. I’ve also tried some of their appetizers but none are really worth mentioning. Their deep fried oyster is a definite skip for sure, but I kinda enjoy their steam oysters w ginger. In the end, I think this place is a good alternative to boiling crab /craw daddy since those 2 place are always packed. Just a note. I’ve seem people mixing all the sauces together before and they do it for you… But I thought it was a bit too salty and too much when I mixed them together.

I give two stars for their customer service only; the hostess and servers here are very friendly and attentive, they make sure we get what we want. The food here … not as fresh as the other cajun style seafood restaurants; their crawfish was frozen but they did tell us before we order. Their clams were very small and the shrimps were just alright. They have different seasonings, but my ideal seasoning for seafood is garlic butter; they do have garlic butter but they put too much butter and too little garlic, it makes it lack of flavor and way too oily. I’ve only been here for one time, not sure if I’d like to come back; maybe when they have live crawfish.

I would say it’s more of a 2.5 that a 2… but I wouldn’t say it was«A-OK» so sorryyyy Sea Port, no 3 stars. My sister and I decided to go here because we were too lazy to drive anywhere too far, and this is just a few block away from home, plus I’ve been meaning to try it. Came here around 2:40 on a Sunday, and it was pretty empty… only 3 other groups were there, so there was ample seating, it doesn’t look like waiting is a problem here. Our server was really nice, when he found out it was our first time here, he asked if we’d like to sample their sauces, which he brought out in little cups with bread to dip in. Their cajun sauce was prettyyyy salty and not spicy/cajuny enough for me. I thought the garlic butter was pretty good but I wouldn’t want my whole bag of seafood to be soaked in just that stuff… and the other three, the creamy basil, tamarind, and curry ones I did not like… When we ordered, I asked if we could mix the garlic butter & cajun together, to try and copy boiling crab’s «whole sha-bang sauce» and also because the cajun sauce is too salty to eat on it’s own! I got 1lb shrimp with garlic butter/cajun with medium spiciness and my sister and I split 1lb clams in the same sauce.(Clams were 5.99 a pound, what a good price!) We got our bibs, and what’s funny is that they give you gloves here! Which I thought was very considerate because if you are like me, I get grossed out when you have to pull off the heads on the shrimp! The food came out rather quickly(I’d hope so since there wasn’t anyone else there, everyone else already had their food), and their shrimp was decently sized and not mushy which I liked. The sauce was still salty even though we tried to fix it by mixing, which wasn’t a big problem for me, but it might be for those people who like to suck the juice out of the heads and what not… the clams were OK, the only thing when you order clams is when all the meat falls out of the shells and you end up picking out all the shells before finding them at the bottom of the bag… I also liked how they give you 1 corn if you order a pound or more, but the corn definitely wasn’t up to par with BC’s, and I loveeeeee the corn there! most of the appeal is drenching it in the sauce but I didn’t really have a desire to do so here… Overall it wasn’t a terrible experience, the staff was very friendly, and the food was decent. If I ever have a desperate random shrimp craving don’t feel like driving to BC this would be my go-to place… however the saltiness does tend to drive me away. Beware and drinks lots of water!

Alright here is my review of this place… Pros: — spacious, no long wait — first time that we came in, since it just opened, offered free bread(still does on the first order) — all ingredients seems to be fresh as I hope — spacious parking lot — best flavor(at least for myself) is the butter garlic Cons: — hit or miss sometimes on the flavors(last time we went, we ordered light spicy and turned out to be really spicy) The cons doesn’t really shy me away not to come back because the quality of food tasted really fresh and servers are friendly and takes care of customers, so I will definitely come back!

Had to wait until I got my money back from this place before I said anything on Unilocal about them =P But more on this later. Anyways, the restaurant itself is ok — nothing special… and no where near close to BC! It may be cheaper with no wait, but I’d wait at BC any day if I was craving some shrimp. Here, the shrimp are small. The sauces aren’t fantastic. In fact, I think they gave me indigestion the next day. I was disappointed that they had nothing close to the whole shebang … got garlic butter and sweet tamarind mixed together, meh. We waited our WHOLEMEAL until our cajun fries came out … and they were disappointing too! They were too soft for my liking. So after my meal, my friends and I planned on splitting the bill. The restaurant accidentally puts the whole tab on my card, but they voided it and told me it will take me 3– 5 days — ok. *3−5 days after & no money seen: *calls sea port* and gets told, very rudely, that it actually takes 6 — 10 days. — ok. *6 — 10 days after & still no money: *calls sea port* and gets told i will have to come into the restaurant with my bank statement because they don’t have a record of my void … …. really? anyways, it got resolved … but for a college student to wait 02 weeks for $ 80 … that’s not crackin’.

3.5 Stars. I was finally able to try this place out on a Friday night and to my surprise, it was not crazy busy like most seafood/crawfish joints in the San Jose area. Seaport replaces the old Hot Pot and as most know, the restaurant sits in the corner of the Hostetter plaza and is pretty big and roomy. They have cute décor with lots of tvs so we were able to catch the Olympics playing. The service itself was great, Harrison who was our waiter was very attentive in getting our orders, refilling our waters and checking on us quite frequently. The food itself was just okay. It wasn’t crawfish season therefore their crawfish was frozen but then i wanted t just try it to taste the sauce. Crawfish was actually very cheap($ 7.99/lb) and i believe it would be a dollar or two more if it was fresh. The shrimp however was really good however the sauce was on the thicker and more oily side. Everything here is spicier than average so order accordingly. My lip was on fire eating there mild shrimp, crawfish and cajun fries.

Note, crawfish is not in season now. So it will taste differently(and better when in season), so I will have to go again, to update this review. So my review isn’t as high as it could be, not dissing them or anything. [: went before lunch hour, not crazy or crowded(I feel like since it’s new, there won’t be crazy lines? maybe ever. who know) Waiter was nice. Ordered a Medium-spicy leveled crawfish 1 pound in thai curry sauce. I was surprised, maybe someone else would be disappointed, I didn’t want to order spicy because it had 3 X’s next to it, and I like to enjoy the natural flavors while I eat then feeling no orgasmic sensations in my mouth. I thought it would be spicier. Perhaps the Thai Curry because it has a sweeter note to it made it not so spicy? It was pleasant the sauce. The waiter was kind enough to tell us that the crawfish would be frozen since not in season and because it’s not in season, he told us it would be a dollar cheaper(off pounds) Never had not in season ones before. It was alright. Some were good, but some were bitter. :/Which isn’t Sea Port’s fault at all. And my friend however ordered non-spicy cajun crawfish and it was spicy, i think it’s because of Cajun spices? I didn’t think it was spicy, maybe mild. I liked that sauce, she did not. And they usually give free corn(which I didn’t read carefully because I was going to order it), but in the end, they ran out, but instead of giving us the next best thing. they gave us bread with free refills(bread is a dollar vs. corn for a quarter. My friend didn’t like how the butter was cold, but I didn’t mind to much, sooo good. Next time! Yes, there will be a next time, I will try other things and do a second review. In total, I’d give them 3 – 4 stars for time being due to the circumstances.

I don’t understand why in the world this place doesnt get higher reviews! It’s basically boiling crab, with no wait, and for ½ the price! It was SOGOOD!!! Came here on a Sunday with a group of 8, and had no wait at all. Our server was so cute, and SOATTENTIVE! She checked up on us a bazillion times to make sure we were happy. When we ordered Dungeness crabs, and the restaurant had just run out, the kitchen staff ran out to THREE different grocery stores to find us some. if that isn’t great service, i dont know what is. Onto the food. They bring out a loaf of bread to try the different sauces with. Of the 5, our group liked Garlic Butter, Creamy Basil, and Sea Port Cajun. We ordered shrimp, crawfish, snow crab legs, mussels, and clams. Each 1lb bag of seafood comes with a free corn on the cob thrown in, so you get a delicious, saucy corn to go with your food. We ordered 2 orders of cajun fries that we happily soaked into the sauces(tip: fries in garlic butter is to die for!) and extra bread rolls to do the same. It was just a perfect meal, and everyone left full, happy, and sooooo satisfied. For feeding 8 hungry Asians with just seafood, our bill came out to only $ 85, WITHTIP! That’s incredible! Try that at boiling crab! We will be back, and we will bring the entire family!

So glad there is a less busier and closer place to get crawfish and other seafood stuff like Boiling Crab! No wait! We came here around 6ish for dinner, but does start to fill up around 7:00. Cheap prices too! Loved how they gave us complimentary french bread to dip to try their different flavors of sauces. We ordered 1 lb of shrimp and clams. They were both really good! We choose 2 flavors: Thai Curry and Creamy Basil. SOOOO good! We also order ½ lb of sausages and 1 corn came with each lb you order. Half lb of sausages were still kind of too much for two people. Everything was so delicious! We were really full and killed almost everything. Clams were close to $ 6 and shrimp was like $ 7. I think we were charged like $ 3 for sausages since it was half lb. I am so coming back when I get the craving!

BETTERTHANBOILINGCRAB… INEVERYPOSSIBLEWAY! You must try it! This place has a great selection of flavors. There’s Seaport Cajun, Garlic and Butter, Creamy Basil, Sweet Tamarind, and some more I can’t remember. I tried the Creamy Basil and instantly fell in love with it! Words really can’t describe how good it is. Their crawfish $ 8.99/lb which is cheapest price I’ve run into so far and they’re big too! They toss in a free corn with every lb of seafood you order and there’s complementary bread and butter too. Decorations are really cute, there’s even a boat inside! And the place is spotless. They provide you with a bib and gloves so you don’t get messy(but you’ll still end up making a mess anyways haha) The service was excellent. Our waiter literally checked up on us at least 10 times while we were eating just to make sure we were good and he even packaged our leftovers in these cute brown gift bags.

quick tip: sausages are not hotlinks its regular A$$ hot dogs WTF! for $ 4 and you don’t order by pieces its by half pound or pound. Never in my life… I was excited about this place because i wanted to try their sauces, they let you try all their sauces before ordering. My favorite is Creamy Basil, second Seaport Cajun. my order 1lb crawfish Creamy Basil 1lb crawfish Seaport Cajun 1lb snowcrab Creamy Basil ½ sauages = hotdogs = Fail The food is alright, its different from other crawfish places worth a try while its still 20% for grand opening. For some reason a lot of my crawfish heads inside were black. Snow crab took at least 20 mins to come out then when it finally did they brought out a dungeness crab. So we had to wait about another 10 mins for snow crab. Overall ill probably be sticking with boiling crab and crawdaddy

At first I was like WTF another cajun seafood place in San Jose, but after giving Sea Port a try, I’d have to say it was definitely better than some of the competitors. Pros: Interior: Probably one of the most spacious cajun seafood places I’ve been too. It’s nice not having to worry about elbowing people when you’re eating. Service: I’ve been here a coupe of times already, and service seems to always to friendly and very attentive. And they routinely check up on tables to make additional orders or refill up on drinks. The host also seats you immediately, since the place holds plenty of seating. Food: My first experience the sauce was really good and they were not stingy about the amount of sauces put into each bag. And the second time and so on, the sauce seemed to be too oily, so staying consistent on their food is a setback. I’d also recommend trying all sauces before you set an order. They also have french bread, which is supper yummy when you dip into the sauce. The first order of french bread is on the house, but after that its a $ 1 charge. Cons: Consistency: They have an option of how spicy you want your seafood to be, but they are never consistent with the spice you order. Sometimes, it’ll be too much spice or way too little. And since I can’t bear extremely spicy food, I unfortunately have to stick with no spice, just to be safe. Options for how hot you can your seafood: No Spice Mild Medium XXX hot Overall, if you can’t those horrible waits at over at other seafood eateries, then this place is really worth a try.

We went here on a Thursday evening for dinner. Got there about 6:30 and it wasn’t too busy. The waiter was nice and did a great job. They offered to have us taste the various sauces before we ordered along with a loaf of bread to dip in the sauce. We then ordered the 3 seafood combo which i thought was a great deal for the price with their cajun sauce. Food came out quick and we realized that the combo includes 3 pieces of corn for free which was nice… then that was the end of the great experience. Our waiter never came back to check up on us and we sat for a good 15 minutes just to get his attention to ask for our tab. He finally came and then it took him another 10 minutes to take the tab and swipe my card. We asked for a to-go bag and this took another 5 – 10 minutes for him to give us our to-go bag… The food was okay and that’s because we go to boiling crab at least 4 times a month and nothing compares to them. Sea port offered nice sized shrimps but the clams were overcooked and small… and the crawfish didn’t seem to be fresh and it was dirty. I know it was dirty because the legs were black and every bite had some sort of sand or rock grinding on my teeth. You won’t see me back here again…

I’ve been here about 7 times now… the first few times were awesome. Then I felt as though the quality of the service and food just went downhill. The shrimp don’t taste as fresh anymore. My sauce collects on my shrimp as a nasty looking paste and makes me wonder how they even make the sauce?! Is it even fresh?! And to top it off, the past few times they’ve gotten my spice wrong despite repeating my order back to me. I’ve ordered MILD and it came pretty MEDIUM which is way too hot for me. Also takes forever to get a water refill. Looks like it is back to Crawdaddy’s for me. It was great while it lasted Sea Port!

Boiling Crab fans will love this. It’s everything that Boiling Crab is but faster service, more attention, and more combinations of sauces and spices you can sample before you order. My favorite sauce was the sweet sauce with the pound of clams. Their best item here was definitely their warm and plump shrimp. The calamari is bad. The sweet potato fries are delicious.

I like this place! It’s like Boiling Crab… but better in some ways. Pros: — Free water! — Free bread and butter! — Bibs AND Gloves. I actually didn’t use my gloves but my parents liked them. Good for the people who want to keep their hands clean. — Free corn when you order a pound of something — Unique sauce flavors: Garlic Butter, Creamy Basil, Seaport Cajun, Thai Curry, and Sweet Tamarind. I ordered the Garlic Butter with Medium spice level. The Garlic Butter flavor was good. I love garlic and this sauce was full of garlic chunks! The Medium spice tasted more like Mild though. I’ll probably try out XXX next time. — Fast and friendly service — NOWAIT to be seated! I went on a Sunday for Father’s Day lunch. — The shrimps were ginormous! — Designated area to wash your hands(so you don’t have to go in a restroom) — Clean and spacious restaurant with nice ocean-themed décor — Currently have a discount going on. 10% off! Cons: — Seaport Cajun sauce could have more flavor. It was missing something. The restaurant is working on improving it though and asked us for suggestions at the end of our meal. — My 1 pound bag was missing the free corn. Everyone else at my table got it though. — One of our bags was leaking — Plastic gloves were hard to open Overall, I had a good experience and I’d eat here again. Try it out!

New boiling crab-like place… yay! Pros: –Spacious. It’s a big enough restaurant where you don’t feel cramped on a packed night. –Seafood is fresh –Creamy basil. *Drool* –Service is great. They’re attentive, friendly and helpful –Provide you with plenty of condiments and napkins –Located in a big plaza so parking is plentiful –Their garlic sauce is packed with actual garlic! –Clean establishment Cons: –Bags are cheap. Not as in price but as in bag quality the sauce leaks. Others had the same problem –New establishment=packed. There’s a wait on weekends –Some of the other sauces they have are bland and tasteless I’m definitely a fan and plan on going back.

We decided to give it a try since it’s close by, and after trying it, we will not be back. The sauces didn’t do it for us, it was just bland and taste less. I prefer the whole sha bang from boiling crab. The only good thing was that it was 20% off, and there was no wait.

Alas! A seafood joint in North San Jose. This place took over the Hot Pot Palace Buffet. It’s super spacious and no wait. There’s a story behind this building that most restaurants don’t last for more than a year or two. We’ll see if this place holds up. My server was Steven(Stephen). Very sweet and soft spoken. He explained the menu well enough and Seaport has some interesting flavors. Very attentive and checked up on my table frequently. –Seaport Cajun –Thai Curry –Sweet Tamarind –Garlic Butter it’s pretty much the same as Boiling Crab. My partner got 1 lb of the Thai Curry Medium Spicy and I got the Seaport Cajun XXX Spicy. 2 corns and a side of rice. You actually get a corn for free with a purchase of a pound of whatever you order. Steven forgot to tell us but no biggie. They gave us a complimentary bread roll with butter which was hard and cold(the butter I mean… pretty hard to spread on the bread) The thai curry was really sweet and had a nice flavor. I dipped my bread into it and it was pretty good. The cajun XXX spicy was not spicy what so ever. The sauce is very watery and it would be better if there was more garlic in the sauce. The flavor is just okay… you kind of keep hoping that after a few bites in that it’ll get better but it’s just missing something. A few of the shrimp was overcooked and mushy. We didn’t finish our meal and took it togo. They discounted 20% off the bill since it’s new. This place has some potential but needs to kick it up a few notches if they want to stay in business. The flavors need some adjusting. If it says spicy, make it spicy. That’s what people want.
