Renovate Max Inc

After selling our previous home, me & my parents had a chance to work with Renovate Max as designer and general contractor. Our traditional two-​story colonial home with large grounds has been transformed into a contemporary luxury estate.
On the first floor, the family room, office and living room cabinetry and fireplace surrounds were replaced. The kitchen and dining areas were enlarged, opened and new cabinetry and appliances installed creating inviting living and entertainment spaces. Interior flooring, doors, hardware, windows, baseboards and ceiling molding were replaced throughout and bathrooms reconfigured and luxuriously finished.
The back yard was re-​designed from a traditional deck-​hot tub to a cutting edge California outdoor space complete with a canopy cover for the built in grill/​kitchen and TV lounge with surround system. Exterior painting, lighting, garage doors and landscaping completed the transformation.
We have and will continue to recommend Renovate Max for all phases of home remodeling or building from architectural and landscape design to general and finish construction.

I did not get a contract for more than a month after saying yes to Ali.
And then I got excuses and attitude.
Also, he would always message that he will call you, but he never calls.
Well, I just wasted my time (many many weeks).

UPDATE: Ali (the person that I base my experience upon and the person that commented beneath to this review) Decided to email regarding my review.

Hi,
I replied to your false review on Unilocal last week but haven’t heard back, anyway I was wonder if Did you pull the required permit from City of San Jose for Asbestos removal??? Did you call EPA to test the air quality after Asbestos removal???
We are really concerned because on your review you mentioned, you did proper approach for Asbestos removal, I was wonder how could you be able to that without Asbestos result???
And this is my response to him:
Ali,
This review was not «false».
Did you come for a quote? Yes, you did. Did you tell me that I need to go and sample my ceiling myself? You most definitely did. Did you tell me that you are going to bring floor samples the next day and didn’t? Yes again
That same day I had another professional that came into my house. Unlike you, he was prepared. On the spot, he took the sample himself and within 48 he was ready to work and while he came for the estimate he actually measured the square footage and didn’t eyeball it.
The results were negative just fyi. And I do not appreciate you calling me a liar. Instead of that approach maybe you should consider to be more helpful to your potential clients and not make them do the leg work.

As you can see, Ali in his email had quite the rude and disrespectful tone. This made me feel harassed and really upset. But with all that I did take the time and put in the effort in writing him back and answering all his questions and responding to his accusations. After he never wrote back. Their client etiquette is far worse than I have imagined. Beware.
I made an appointment with Ali for a few estimates on a few projects throughout the new property we have purchased. Ali came on time (that’s important to me). One of the projects was removal of the acoustic ceiling on the second floor. Ali asked me what year the house was built to determine if the ceiling did contain asbestos. When we said that we are not sure. He said that we will need to take a sample and send it to the lab. Then he asked me what is the square footage of the area. Now, why are you asking me that Ali? The sole purpose of you coming to meet me here is to measure the space we are interested in working on. Then he continued to eye ball it! There was only 1 room I saw him measuring from the entire 2^nd floor (4 different sized bedrooms) (?!)
When I was trying to figure out the year of the house on my phone, he slipped downstairs 1^st floor to talk to another contractor that at the time was working on a different project. Instead of actually doing any measurements!
We did a walk throughout the house and we talked about all the work we are planing on doing within the year. I clearly asked him for a few estimates on specific projects I was interested in doing immediately (we had a tight and limited schedule of 1.5 week to complete them all!). After Ali left, I did get an email from him including the info of the lab he required me to test my ceilings. I replied to him with the request for the estimates we discussed. After that, I never got a response back regarding the estimates. Also, Ali did say he will bring me flooring samples the next day! But I never got a response from him not even through text.
About a week after, Ali did call me to follow up about the test (again no estimates.) and by then we not only had already selected the contractor, but the job was already done. Ali did not understand the sense of the time crunch we were under unlike other contractors and also required me to do some extra steps that were not asked of me from the other businesses I ended up working with. In fact, Ali was the only one (out of 4) that required me to test for asbestos.
Again, let me clarify: I do understand the health risks of working with asbestos, but comparing to the other contractors. They just automatically took the required safety measures, assuming the ceiling might potentially contain asbestos, instead of inconveniencing the client and asking him/​her to go and test their ceilings… Make sense?

The project turned out better then we expected.
Ricardo the carpenter guy did a great job on the cabinets. The carpenter’s quality of work was great. Ricardo came on time, even worked on the weekends to get the job done. Great and easy to get along with. He did an excellent job as well and very friendly and easy to talk.
Ariel, the plumber, did a great job on the plumping. He was punctual and did everything on time. Very friendly, and easy to talk to.
Sergio fabricator and tlie setter Luis, did an excellent job as well.
Ray, the electrician, did a great job.
I am happy to recommend Ali and renovate max. Ali did a wonderful job on my kitchen.

One star for not returning phone calls.

I am happy to recommend Ali and Renovate Max. I didn’t really know what I wanted for my kitchen, but Ali’s experience created one I love. He had options for everything. The job was done quickly, the workers were pleasant and professional. They worked on the weekend, they worked past sunset. The stone guys were cutting until after 8PM to get the job done! I’d recommend Ali to anyone.

Daniel the tile guy did a great job on the floors and the back splash. Daniel and his team came on time, even worked on the weekends to get the job done. Great crew, easy to get along with
Adam, the plumber, did a great job on the plumping. He was punctual and did everything on time. Very friendly, and easy to talk to.
Sergio, the counter guy, did an excellent job as well. He is very punctual and knowledegable. Sergio was even educating me on how to take care of the countertops.
Ed, the electrician, did a great job. He installed a new sub panel, and redid the kitchen lights and electrical. He came in and did what was promised. Nice guy too!
The carpenter’s quality of work was ok. I’m content with his work. Although, the handles were all a little crooked due to using a bad template, but that’s fixable.
Overall, this project was successful.

Ali did a wonderful job on our kitchen. How is contractor able to carry out your vision when you don’t set clear expectations? Enter Renovate Max. Ali has a keen design sense and gave us valuable input on our kitchen remodel when we asked. He wasn’t pushy in any way and was extremely professional throughout the entire process. We were extremely pleased with Ali’s work and will definitely hire him again in the future.

Ali is very knowledgeable about really good products available on the market, you can see that he has a design background, he was a designer first. He has good relationships with his subs and his suppliers, and even though our job ended many months ago, I was able to contact him and he hooked me up with one of his vendors.
I really liked Ali’s carpenter Jeff. The guy was a craftsman, and really took his time to do everything right. Not only that, he was a gentleman as well, very easy to have around the kids, I felt very safe in our ongoing project. I also really liked his flooring subcontractor, the guy had a lot of experience and was very responsive to calls and texts, and even he is getting back to me with new questions I have months later.
As long as you don’t make the sexist assumption that just because he’s a man, Ali is going to be on your job with a hammer, you should be happy. He’s the general, he has a good network of employees and subs. As with any busy person, just be crystal clear about exactly what you want, and he is a problem-​solving kind of guy that will work with you to get it done.

We had a great experience remodeling our kitchen with renovate max. Ali was very helpful in every step of the process. We added granite counter tops and cabinets. Quality of work was better than we had initially expected. Work was completed on schedule. Price was right too. Highly recommended.

We called Ali after seeing his previous kitchen renovation project pictures he has on his website. He is very patient, showed us many samples of cabinets, countertops for us to pick and then showed us the design to completely renovate our Kitchen within our budget. We really really liked his work and we are just loving our new kitchen. After kitchen, we called Ali back to install new carpet, he has done a great job again.
He is about to start our bathroom renovation project. With no doubt, I highly recommend Ali for your renovation projects.

When I was looking for a contractor, I had many of them came to the house to bid for the project, Ali from Renovate Max came with many sample of tiles and doors. He was extremely patient and detailed. He gave us a pretty good quote. He helped us made some changes to the design, which turn out great, all thanks to him. Through out the project, many small issues here and there, Ali was always there to help us resolved the issues. We are very happy with our beautiful and modern kitchen! I will post our beautiful kitchen photos up.

I have had my kitchen and 2 bathrooms remodeling done by Renovate Max and extremely happy with their service and prices! Staff are professional and clean. Ali also gave us right suggestion when we were finalizing the colors of Granite and floor tiles. I will be recommending them to everyone and using them again for our next project.
