Al Perry was above my expectations. I haven’t felt this relaxed in years!!! Al was able to detect the painful areas right away and educate me on why certain areas were giving me issues. He was also very personal and shared some wonderful insights with me that will help me in the future. Thank you for everything Al! See you in the near future!

Al is the best! I haven’t been to him in a while, but he gave me my very first massage about 14 years ago & since then, I don’t have the desire to go to anyone else. He knows exactly how muscles work & will fix you up of any pain. He finds injuries & works on them until you’re better. When I was pregnant with my first son, he did an amazing job on me while still keeping me comfortable. When I have stiff necks, he gets me back to normal in as little as one half hour session & a follow up. I’m sad that I never made time to see him with my second pregnancy. My baby is now 5 months & I’m ready for an Al massage. I just felt the need to review him because I can’t believe I never have & I’ve been thinking of getting a massage & I wanted to make sure everyone else feels the same about Al & my shoulders are hurting, so I am due! The person who gave Al 1 star, must have some negative energy & is so wrong about Qiworks. He’s the best at what he does. With that being said, I need to find time to make my appointment!

I went to see Al for some help with several issues in my body caused by my long held career as a dental hygienist. He was able to immediately pinpoint all the areas in my body that were tighter than a tightrope and release them and turn them«off» as he calls it(small muscle groups that are so overused they don’t know how to quit firing on their own). He accomplished this through a combination of trigger points, rotation, stretching and traction. Al seems very intuitive about both Western and Eastern approaches of body work. I also appreciated the advice on some strengthening and stretching practices I could do on my own, as well as considering my mindfulness in my work. Thanks, Al!

I would give him a negative star if I could. I had my worst«doctor’s» appointment today than ever(and I have had plenty). I’m a new patient, so about a week ago, Al Perry sent me his open calendar system and told me to «manage my own appointments online». So I did. Because of my hectic schedule(full time job and a 2 year old), I had to change the appointment time twice(all changes were made on appts 7+ days later, and I sticked to my final appointment time all this week without any changes). Upon coming to his office, he told me with a stern face that because of my changes back then, I had cost him $ 180 since two other patients can’t use the slots. He then summarized by saying«This is not a good start. I do not like you.» First off, how is this possible? I didn’t keep the old slots(you have to cancel one to reschedule). Anyone could have logged into his system and grabbed the time these whole 7 days, if they had really wanted the appt. Secondly, if you trade off using an actual assistant with an online calendar system, this is what’s gonna happen. If there were an real person, I would have called in and made the changes anyway, just that you wouldn’t know it. If you have rules about using your system, you should have stipulated that«you can’t change your appt more than twice, and if you give me a 7-day cancellation notice, that’s considered too late and unacceptable». Thirdly, and most importantly, this is not how you treat your patient, or people. I was confused and speechless for about 5 minutes while he was accusing me of my wrongdoings and was eventually sitting there in tears. I’m never someone who picks on a doctor’s bedside manner — if you are a neurosurgeon, I couldn’t care less of it. But you are someone people come to for chronic pain — I expect this person to have a caring heart. The way I was treated made me seriously doubt his qualifications and professionalism. I then checked his qualifications online. He claims to be a «CMQT» — I think it means something Qigong Therapy. Being a Chinese, I know that Qigong is not widely accepted as a medical practice even in China. There are many, many other doctors in the area who are better accredited(Doctors of Physical Therapy, or actual MDs), who specialize in treating chronic pain and have 30+ good reviews on Unilocal.Look on, you will find them. I’d rather try them first than someone who’s so unreasonable, harsh, and unprofessional.

I wanted to write this review a long time ago. Al is incredible in both parts — humanity and as a professional. His work is highly professional and gets exactly into the point. He really feel the body and connection between mind&body&spirituality. He always gives advices on how to improve your life apart from bodywork. And he is incredibly kind person, always present in the moment. Therapists like he is one in a million. I’m eternally grateful for his work — it really helps me every time and I feel relieved and relaxed after that. It’s a bummer that since I moved to San Francisco I cannot see him as easily.

Hip flexors, IT band, S.I. joint, low back strain, tight hamstrings, quads, and glutes… Al is keeping me up and running! He understands the interconnectivity of the body’s various systems and does an excellent job reading the body and explaining what he finds. I’ve been to him at least eight times now, always with great results until I mess myself up again from a lot of running. More than anything I love the mindset he brings to his practice of bodywork and healing. He is totally present and positively intentioned. I know I’m in safe and knowledgeable hands.

First visit there. I appreciated Al Perry’s combination of massage with moving Qi energy. He also provided me with suggestions of things I can do at home to help myself. Very professional– and effective.

I injured myself diving into a pool from a high-dive. I messed up my lat and tricep muscles and eventually got frozen shoulder, which pretty much put everything out of whack. Two doctors at Kaiser told me a I had a torn rotator cuff. Wrong! Al was able to see the problem right away, start working on it, and I felt better even after the very first visit. I’ve been going to see Al at Qi Works for about 2 months now and the result is amazing. He really knows the humane body, the pressure points, the tendons, the muscles, everything. He really is amazing at what he does with his body and energy work. He gave me exercise to work on, in between appointments. He’s so knowledgeable that he even offers classes and has written a book. And best of all, his prices are very reasonable. He won’t try to get you to come see him everyday just to get your money. He’s an honest person who just wants to see you get better. In fact, just this morning, he told me I could cut back on my visits to him because of the progress I’ve made. I highly recommend his services.

My gosh where do I start when I talk about Al? If I had to describe him in one word that word would be unbelievable! It never seizes to amaze me how intuitive he is. He can find issues in areas without me even telling him. He is dynamic. Two years with this wonderful man and I just pray he stays around a very long time. He has kept me out of the orthopods office. He is excellent with both athletes and non athletes. I have referred several people to Al and each one has had the same wonderful experience and we all are still clients of his. Thank you Al for all you are and all you do! A true professional.

I have been going to Al Perry for about a year now. He is both scientific and highly intuitive in his approach to healing. He is also non-invasive, gentle, well-read and reasonably priced. I have been to SO many varied practitioners over the years and can honestly say Al is one of the best. I first went because repeated blood tests were showing my kidney and liver function was compromised. I made no other changes to my lifestyle or diet(always pretty good) and, about one month later, the blood tests were all normal. Having had chronic and lifelong back and neck issues Al also began working on them and I feel great! My skeptical husband also goes to Al when he has occasional issues and has also been pleased. Don’t let the Qigong title throw you off or confuse you. While it is a wonderful component of what Al does, Al uses many modalities to «fix» what is wrong and, at least for me, as long as I have measurable results at the end, I don’t worry too much about which he used to get there.

I have had massages, and then I have had massages from Qiworks and Al. He has helped me when I just need to relax and relieve tension and also when I’ve had serious sports injuries. He has a flexible schedule and I can usually get in when I need to which is great when I work full-time. Bodywork really works!

I’ve gone to Al monthly for 9 years as well. He has an amazing way of healing, and I really appreciate the work he did during my two pregnancies. He is part of my «health team», and continues to monitor my well being, specifically my stress and pain. I highly recommend Al if you are ready to get some results. Michele R

He is positive light in my life. Without his work I don’t think I would still be able to dance. He has helped my understand the workings of my body as well as my mind. If you haven’t had a chance to work with him… I say set your appointment… his work is pure MAGIC!
