My new favorite pizza place. There is no salt and fat hangover with the pizza here. The crust is a key factor, with a great balance of chewiness and crunch. There is no oily residue in the pan like you see with some pizza. We had the Queen Margherita and the Five Level Veggies. Our group was a mix of vegans(myself included) and non-vegans, and all enjoyed the pizza. My friends also had smoothies, and the Reese’s Peanut Butter especially drew raves. The vibe here is nice too — laid back, small, not loud and you can hold a good conversation. They sell vegan candy and other products in addition to serving meals. I noticed a sign on the wall that they donate 15% of their sales during specific time periods to a different charity each month. Way to go! I look forward to coming back here often.

I’ve been here at least 4 or 5 times already and I’m actually here now, waiting for my pizza. It’s time to write a review. First thing you need to know: I’m not vegan. Second thing: This is my favorite pizza place. Lastly: Do NOT skip out just because you aren’t vegan. The pizzas here are, in my opinion, better than pizzas WITH meat. And this is coming from someone(me) who loves meat. There is only one other pizza place I enjoy a lot(pizza is never really my first choice, so I’m picky), but I still enjoy this place more. I first came here with my boyfriend who has a lot of food allergies. We got the gluten free queen marguerita(sp?) pizza with no cheese. It was AMAZING. The sauce is so good. Needless to say, we came back again and again. My favorite pizza so far is the Indian style pizza. I order it with no veggies because the spices and sauce are good on their own! The smoothies and the bread sticks are also great. I always order a pineapple strawberry smoothie. Anyway, if you are reading this review: what are you waiting for? Come eat here!

My boyfriend and I have started eating healthier but we were craving some greasy and cheesy pizza. We saw this place and thought to try it, even though it’s vegan. We came and we loved it!!! It was so good. No, it was greasy, or thick crusted pizza. But it was still amazing! Who knew that super healthy food can still taste amazing. Definitely new favorite pizza place :)

This place was… Interesting. I didn’t have the best experience because my boyfriend didn’t order the right thing but we were starving so I didn’t bother to order anything new. We shared the pesto one and it had absolutely no «meat» which is why I was a little bit upset with my boyfriend lol. I really wanted to try the Hawaiian one. But anyway, it’s a pretty small place with really cool decorations. We didn’t order any of their smoothies but they sounded amazing. The water comes in a cool bottle which you could see in other customer’s pics. The pizza was good but to me it was too tomato-y and I don’t really like tomatoes. The pesto was there but it didn’t stand out, which you could also see in the pictures that other people posted. The picture decorations on the tables were a bit much but then again, vegans are known to be extremist(not said by me, I’ve heard plenty of people say this before) but it does sort of make people aware of water waste and excess meat consumption. You have to grab plates and utensils yourself which is a good strategy on their end because it’s next to the eggs and cookies they had for sale. I would like to go back here again because the food wasn’t terrible and I am still itching to try their Hawaiian one.

Woe is the San Jose resident looking for vegan pizza options. Plant Based Pizza is one of the few and had become our go-to. However, we’ve vowed to no longer get ours to-go. This place is the definition of hit-or-miss. The toppings, prep and overall quality are wildly inconsistent. I’ve probably eaten here — or from here — a dozen times, and had half-a-dozen varying experiences ranging from 1– to 5-star worthy. Hence the 3-star rating; it’s a cumulative average. On a good day, you could have addictive Jenga breadsticks, a topping-overflowing Love Me organic salad and a flavorful, crisp pizza. Or you could arrive well before the quoted estimated ready time and find a cold-yet-overcooked pie and a disconcertingly warm, toppings-deprived, wilty salad before you even get out the door. Enjoy(?)! The latter has happened too many times for us to consider getting Plant Based Pizza for carry-out again. We’ve even resolved to try making our own vegan pizzas. But we’ll definitely keep this place as an option when we want a good local vegan dine-out experience — competing with Loving Hut, Veggie Grill and Happy Hooligans for our patronage.

I cannot believe it took me so long to write a review about this place! Definitely the best vegan restaurant/food type place that I’ve ever been to! The owner is such a dedicated and wonderful person. We have been here multiple times and always welcomed with a smile! The first time I came here was back in 2013 for my boyfriend and I’s anniversary. We usually get the jenga garlic sticks and the biggest meatless lovers pizza. I have tried just about everything on the menu and it is seriously my favorite go to for pizza. They also have a gluten free option which is great! They are the only vegan pizza joint in the bay and it is seriously worth the drive! The employees are always so nice and accommodating. Thank you Plant Based Pizza, you are the bomb! The Hardcore Vegans will always be dedicated to you!

Now that I’m on the gluten free bandwagon(definitely not by choice!!) I find myself not wanting to cook or do dishes for the nth time and give in to having someone else prepare my food. Generally, I’m just asking for either disappointment and/or cross contamination and ultimately getting sick. Neither of this has happened with PBP! Their pizza is WAY better than Blue Line’s and needless to say it doesn’t even compare to those gluten free frozen pizzas. The safest bet is to order 5 toppings(there’s gluten in their«meat» anyway). I’ve found the best combo is tomatoes/olives/basil/onions/mushrooms. I once tried garlic but it was way to overpowering and there’s already some garlic in their sauce. My husband loves it too and he’s not gluten free. So far, this is the only gluten free place I’ll eat at in Santa Clara/San Jose. I can’t even stand Chipotle anymore! After eating here 4 times, I’m pretty sure I’m a huge fan :)

Love the food and the people here but can’t agree with the business practices. They’ve been advertising through Eat24 for months but don’t actually do their own delivery. They’ve been cancelling(or trying to cancel) and pushing people to other services. This has led to delays and gaffes. It’s a shame for what started out as such a great business. If they get off Eat24 and improve the reliability of their orders, I’m back up to a 5 star review. Until then, I’m stuck crossing my fingers every time I place an order.

So awesome to have a vegan pizza option(besides Whole Foods) in the area! Would highly recommend the hawaiian pizza. So yummy! The sausage was a little meh, but the breadsticks were also good(eat while hot). Prices are high because I’m assuming the vegan cheese is expensive and there’s also not much other game in town. Service is friendly and helpful, and they have cute cards on the table that tell you about the difference veganism makes. Really cool!

There was a bit of a misunderstanding the night before that left me a bit upset & the owner himself called me and offered to make it right. With all reviews, it’s 70% service &30% everything else — I am going to say that Will went above and beyond to make it right and I appreciate that. Now, to the food — it was great. We ordered a pizza with mushroom, spinach, zucchini & tomato — it was great! I sincerely appreciate that there is a vegan pizza place nearby that has a decent selection of toppings. The vegan cheese they use is great too. I added a bit of chili flakes and oregano(being the Chicagoan I am) and it was great! I appreciate the service and the pizza is great. Can’t ask for much else.

As a kid I loved pizza. I mean who doesn’t? But then I grew up and found out I was lactose intolerant. No bueno considering cheese appears in delicious food as much as Ugg boots appear in the wintertime. I shared a 14″ half meatless lover, half five veggies pizza between one other person. The portion size was just right for 2 people. At other pizza places I’d have to sop up the ridiculous amounts of oil on the pizza with paper napkins before eating. However, the pizza here was surprisingly(and thankfully) not greasy. I didn’t notice the taste or texture of the«cheese.» It must not have been that spectacular, but honestly the highlight of the pizza was the crust. My suggestion is that they dampen the broccoli before putting it as a topping so that it doesn’t become burnt and therefore essentially nutrition-less. The pizza wasn’t bone dry, but I think it would taste way better if they were just a little more generous with the tomato sauce. The brown slices of «meat» were also on the dry side, but the other toppings tasted just fine. Like the majority of pizza joints, it’s not exactly a super romantic spot but it has a quirky, happy, DIY deco feel to it. I’d give this place a 3.75. I’ll probably be back if i’m ever craving pizza.

5 stars because it’s a vegan place w/a cool concept. I also love the fact that they have subtle fliers that show just how much you’re helping the environment by having a vegan meal!(Like a cowspiracy flyer). That said, the food is absolutely great! You’re paying a bit of a premium ~$ 30 for a 2 person pizza instead of your typical $ 10 pizza from Pizza Hut but that’s because vegan cheese is really expensive! We got a half 5 vegetable pizza and half«meat» lovers pizza. It was a great combo overall and we switched back and forth. My one complaint was it was a little dry so I was grateful for the Siracha sauce I could drench it with and the mango smoothie I ordered. Overall a great option for vegans, vegetarians, lactose free kids, and people who want to try to have a conscience while still eating great food!

So, I’ve had this place bookmarked for quite sometime and finally was in the area and hungry! It makes me happy places like this exist, 100% plant based! It’s a somewhat small place with a few tables inside and outside. Very friendly staff and although they got our order(partially) wrong they came forward with a whole extra pizza! We had ordered half Greek /half Indian with a side of Jenga bread sticks. The bread sticks weren’t bad but I wouldn’t order them again… not what I was expecting, thin, not so garlic-y, crunchy sticks… and the pizzas… they were good! Nothing mind blowing but pretty damn tasty. They have a full menu of so many pizzas, I would definitely recommend this place and go back! Certain months /days /hours they donate a percentage to animal sanctuaries, yay!

New to veganism but was craving a pizza… Looked on Unilocal and found this little shop. :) Ordered online and came in to pick up my 5 vegetable pizza. The place is really cute and it’s nice to come in and see people with a common interest. I got Artichoke hearts, black olives, onions, mushrooms, and green pepper. It was topped with their vegan cheese which had the consistency of raw pizza dough? It tasted good though. Their organic pizza sauce was noticeably really delicious, I was worried there wouldn’t be enough cheese but the pizza was really saucy(which I love) so I didn’t really mind it was lightly topped with their«cheese.» One thing I wish was different was the bottom was kinda soggy and id prefer it to be crunchy :(

Though being vegan I was very reluctant to try Plant Based Pizza. When restaurant claims that they are famous for gluten free crusts, to me it reads that the gluten free crust will be as good as that kind of crust can be(meaning it will taste like chalk and sand pressed together that only holds in one piece by some black magic) and that the normal crust will be really disappointing. The crust on their pizza is probably one of the best crusts I have tasted, very crunchy, flavorful — perfect. The vegan cheese does not taste bad, so if you choose good toppings you will get a really amazing pie. Can’t wait to go there again.

Props for being able to send a gluten free pie that is a solid choice for the non-gluten folks. Prices here are a little expensive, but the ingredients are fresh and it «feels» a lot more healthy than what else is out there. I love the vegetarian and vegan options, and overall I would highly recommend this as an option for the a healthy alternative. The wait time might be a little on the long side, and the prices might be a little higher than the chains, but I would say that it’s worth it. A vegetarian high five and 4 stars

I love plant based pizza! I swear they put some special addiction sauce in it :) The pizza literally makes me want to buy those t shirts saying«I love pizza» on it! Everything I have order has been so good, if I could eat stuff like this everyday, going vegan would be no problemo! The«meat» tastes like real meat! The«cheese» tastes like real cheese! The crust is cooked perfectly! The veggies are fresh! I have even tried gluten crust and it wasn’t to bad. Overall, I love plant based pizza :) it’s a great healthier pizza to eat for all!

I had Plant Based Pizza bookmarked for the longest time but never got the chance to make the trek all the way to San Jose. However, when I heard that Plant Based Pizza would be donating 15% of all purchases to PreetiRang Sanctuary between 2pm — 5pm through the month of January, I knew I had to make the trip. So last Sunday, Brandi W. and I met up with our friend Robin in the South Bay and I got to try Plant Based Pizza for the first time and it was delicious! We decided to go for the Tomato Love Pesto which had red sauce, pesto, mushrooms, tomatoes, olives, and vegan cheese. I’m a mushroom fanatic — give me anything with mushrooms and I’m happy! When the pizza came out we sprinkled it with a little«nooch» or nutritional yeast and some red pepper. If you are not familiar with nooch its a comes in flakes and has a cheesy taste to it. I use it quite often when I cook or just sprinkle on top of food and it is a great source of vitamin B12 — it’s one of my staples! The pizza was quite delicious and I loved how it wasn’t heavy with Daiya or vegan cheese, a little goes a long way! It’s such a great feeling to be eating delicious vegan pizza and supporting PreetiRang Sanctuary all at the same time. Plant Based Pizza is definitely changing the world one slice at a time! Thank you Plant Based Pizza for donating to help the animals!

Probably the most wonderful loving service I’ve ever had! Will the owner takes his creations(and they are works of art) seriously and has a loyal following to prove it. The space is inspirational and the vegan and vegetarian choices are for everyone. Really loved my foodie experience, thank you Plant Based!

Best(vegan) pizza ever! You mean everything on the menu is vegan? You do not know how happy I was when I found this place. The variety of pizzas they offered could have made me cry. Luckily no tears were shed but a pie and breadsticks where ordered! We got half curry(wow indian pizza!) and half pesto along with«cheesy» breadsticks. Man oh man the breadsticks were the bomb! The marinara sauce was spot on and the sticks had nice seasoning of garlic, it was divine. Then our pizza came, pipping hot so we carefully but hungrily shoved a bite in– delicious! The flavor, spices, and texture were all perfect — happy party in my mouth~ In addition to the order we got the unlimited refill of juices from the juice bar– the orange mix is super yummy! Try it! Perfect pies. Super service. I just wish I loved closer… Or come branch out to Sacramento eh?
