After reading some reviews here — some fawning and some much less so — I’m wondering if I got the short end of the stick. The banh mi sandwiches are quite pricey, so even though they come in large baguettes(12 inches), I was really hoping that the fillings would be tasty and substantial enough to justify the price. Alas, in my case, no. Even in the case of the«ninja all meats» banh mi. The fried egg and bacon were a nice extra touch, but the rest of the fillings were simply OK in flavor, probably because there wasn’t enough portion-wise to get a good fix. I might try this truck again if I see it at a food truck festival, but I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way for it.

Had this for lunch today. I was a bit disappointed that there were only 2 options: 1) sandwich or 2) rice bowl. They didn’t have any of the special drinks that they have on their menu(kumquat lemonade, Vietnamese iced coffee). They had sodas or bottled water available. I went with the chicken rice bowl which came with the garlic rice and lemongrass chicken, with a side green salad. The portions are pretty healthy. I had worked out and lifted weights this morning so I was really hungry. I ate the entire thing! I am trying to figure out if I ate the whole thing because I was starving or if it was really that good? I will have to say that the rice is really yummy compared to plain rice. It can be a little dangerous because you end up eating the whole entire thing! The chicken is good. It was not dry, and it was cooked all the way(grilled). It’s not rubbery like I read in the other review I saw. It’s not the best I’ve had, but I think it’s a healthier option compared to the fried chicken they were serving at the other truck that was offered next door. The spicy ninja sauce was tasty. It helps bring some kind of flavor to the chicken. Overall, it’s a balanced meal: carbs, protein, and veggies. Let’s see how sustained it fuels me for the rest of the day. You can get a meal here for $ 10. That’s a lot less than what you would pay to go out to lunch where you have to pay the meal, tip and tax. It’s decent. If they roll around next Wednesday, I would eat there again. I just hope they have more options because if it’s the same two the following week I think I’ll grow sick of the menu quick. I was hoping they would have the coconut pandan waffle! It’s probably better that they didn’t because I need to stay fit for my upcoming wedding.

I hired O Mi Ninja for a company event, to treat our employees to lunch. PRICING: I hire between 2 and 6 companies per month for such service, and Nancy at O Mi Ninja is now at the top of my recommendation list. If you’re looking for great food, at a fair shake, with an owner who hasn’t let ‘Off the Grid’ notoriety get to their head and wants to charge $ 5 extra for ‘house-made ketchup” … O Mi Ninja is a wonderful find. PORTIONSANDQUALITY: The portions and quality are far above standard for food trucks and catering services in this area. Seriously — PORTIONS. Amazing. EASEOFCOMMUNICATION: The owner, Nancy, was incredibly sweet and informative, and was very put-together & responsive. She returned my calls religiously at every step, to discuss pricing and availability, and to give me updates. This sort of communication isn’t the norm, unfortunately, and is something to be valued. DRAWBACKS: We hit a minor snag when their truck had a mechanical difficulty, but they came through with flying colors. They haven’t let success go to their heads, and are legitimately concerned with quality and service. INCONCLUSION: This company has great reviews, for good reason. If looking to treat your employees to a casual, awesome lunch — I highly recommend their catering services.

I had ½ of a pork banh mi sandwich and ½ of the rice plate with pork. The rice bowl was good but the sandwich was amazing! One of the better banh mi sandwiches I have had!

Just ordered their rice and chicken. Took one bite, spit it out, and threw away the container. Waste of $ 8. Chicken was like rubber, fatty and tasted horrendous. The rice was rice. Can’t really mess up rice. Tried it with the little sauce dish they provided, didn’t make much of a difference considering the chicken being so awful. Lesson learned: Don’t order chicken from a food truck.

Amazing, amazing, amazing! I was put in charge of booking a food truck for our team summit for 60 people, so of course O Mi Ninja was my first choice. From beginning to end they were awesome to work with. They were responsive, accommodating and patient as I asked about menu options and food restrictions of the group(dairy intolerance, gluten free, paleo, vegan, vegetarian). For the event they arrived early and quickly set up as the summit unexpectedly ended early and we were hungrily waiting. We really appreciated their efficiency! They offered us the full menu: garlic rice/vermicelli/bahn mi with pork or chicken or tofu, side salad, chips and drinks. Oh! They also offered all of the extras like bacon and egg! YUM! It was surprisingly cheap for everything that we got. At the end of the event I found out that the owner also makes cookies( ) !!! I wish I knew that earlier! We would have ordered some customized cookies for our summit! Next time, next time! We’ll definitely re-book with them for all of our summits. I might even try to convince my manager to have a random event just so we can re-book with them sooner! 5 stars for customer service, 5 stars for menu options and 5 stars for the food itself!

One of my favorite food trucks in SJ. I’ve tried everything on their menu from their banh-mi sandwich to my favorite, the rice bowl. all their ingredients are super fresh and tasty! my only complaint is that they don’t always come out to North SJ where I work.

A ninja for life… My new position doesn’t afford to track down a ninja and get my fix, but when I was put in charge of our corporate catering program — I made it work. If I couldn’t come to them, I brought them over to my company. Kill two birds with one stone. They are a great asset to catering! Nancy is friendly, knowledgeable, and resourceful in making sure that their wonderful food is tailored to meet the client’s needs. Thus, we came to develop a wonderful meal based on their fabulous vermicelli dishes while incorporating the banh mi to make sure my teammates did not miss out on the O Mi Ninja experience. Thanks for all you do, O Mi Ninja — you know I’ll definitely be back. Sincerely yours, Ninja For Life

Tips: $ 7 for Banh Mi Sandwich($ 9 if you get ALL meats+bacon+fried egg) $ 1 to add fried egg to anything $ 3 for Vietnamese Iced Coffee or Thai Iced Tea — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – The Banh Mi sandwich is HUGE! I ended up eating half of the sandwich for lunch and half for dinner later.(I have a small appetite) The sandwich is very yummy and I would recommend if you want to try a sandwich. The rice plate is not a bad choice either, good portions.

It’s really hard to choose which item to get off the menu, but from what I hear you can’t go wrong. Asked them to come on campus and they showed up on time, stayed all day, and served their delicious food. We were happy to have them here. The sweet potato tater tots are really good — especially with the sauce. Ninja sandwich is loaded with different kind of meat — always a plus! Thanks again to Nancy the crew for coming out and providing yummy food and awesome customer service. :)

Way overdue for an update. O Mi Ninja just had a lunch service at my church this weekend. From a business standpoint, dealing w/O Mi Ninja was great! My emails were returned promptly, and they had no problem accommodating a couple of special menu requests. O Mi Ninja arrived early to make sure they were ready for service at our agreed upon time, and Nancy couldn’t have been friendlier. :) I was surprised most of my church congregation had never heard of O Mi Ninja before. After trying their food this weekend, O Mi Ninja definitely has some new fans. Unfortunately for me, my friend got the last banh mi. Luckily for me, I got to enjoy the Ninja-Style(Lemongrass Chicken, Vietnamese Pork, Garlic Grilled Steak, Fried Tofu & Mushrooms, Bacon, & Fried Egg) Garlic-Ginger Rice. Actually, I should say I enjoyed half of my loaded rice dish. The other half is in my fridge. O Mi Ninja’s portions are quite large. Oh, I didn’t use any of the special Ninja sauce, but my friends who like spicy stuff were lovin’ it! Thank you, O Mi Ninja!

Brother had been waitin to try this truck for bout a month. We finally saw that it would be here last fri so we decided to eat it for our weekly fri lunch. The sandwich cost 7 bux but if u want it «Ninja» style it costs 9 bux. Ninja style means u get all the meats and fried eggs inside your vietnamese sandwich(banh mi). The sandwich was good but not 9 dollars good. I know ive paid maybe $ 9 – 13 for a sandwich at ike’s but the avg comparable price for a vietnamese sandwich is bout 4 – 5 bux… Anyways the sandwich was good but not good enuf to make me wanna come try it again. Personally, for me my favorite part was the egg. The other stuff in the sandwich was cool but it was jus ok. Also they give you one tiny packet of sauce and if u want another one its 25 cents. Overall while the food was solid, its over-hyped and overpriced. I think u could do better buyin a viet sandwich sumwhere else, takin it home, and puttin in 2 sunny side up eggs urself.

Expensive and underwhelming… Unilocalers you have failed me. I’d been stalking this truck for a while after reading such rave reviews on Unilocal.FINALLY got a chance to check it out and was so sad! Got 2 Ninja style banh mi’s; one for me and one for the boyfriend. Let me tell you, sometimes less is more… The sandwiches themselves were HUGE but way too many ingredients muddled the flavors and it really just didn’t taste good. This was the one time in my life I wish I DIDN’T have bacon on something. I’d take a traditional banh mi for the half the price any day. May give them another try and maybe just get the lemongrass chicken instead of all the fixings to see if the simplified version lives up to the hype. Until next time…

O Mi Ninja is a pretty good Food Truck. They are reasonably quick & had a TV playing some movie about ninjas. I had the Ninja style Banh Mi. Twelve inches, stuffed with goods. I don’t like eating filler starches like rice, noodles or bread, but this bun was perfect to act as a bowl to hold the stuff held within. There was plenty of meat and veggies in there to satisfy me even without eating the bread. I was surprised to see such a big sandwich for the price at a food truck. The ingredients weren’t exactly the highest quality or best tasting, but between the jalapenos, ‘ninja’ sauce & sriracha I poured on, there was a good kick for my taste buds at least. I really wanted to try their coconut pandan waffles, but they didn’t have any the day I tried them.

Om nom nom noms O Mi Ninja! You make noms on the go. Today I had my second experience with O Mi Ninja and I have to say you have great consistencies. As part of a company free food truck day that I got to partake in we could pick 2 things from each truck that was on a special menu. Previously I had tried a rice noodle dish which had like 7 proteins, so of course I loved it. This time they sadly ran out of their rice noodle dish, but because of that I was able to try their lemongrass chicken over ginger rice. While muy caliente for my taste buds due to the jalapeños, the flavors mixed so well with the ginger rice, which was just the right about of sweetness for ginger, but not being overpowering. Liked that the rice was just a bit softer than usual and the fatty short grain rice. I often forget about food trucks while planning my meals, but whenever I see this truck I drift away to a happy place and fall into the queue as if following the sweet song of the pied piper.

My office asked them to cater our office dinner this week. They arrived early and we were very happy since the other truck arrived 1 hour late!!! The lady who took the order was friendly and the service was pretty fast. I think most of the items were already cooked so all they had to do was to serve them. But the waffles were freshly made and they were this cute green round shaped waffles that reminded me of the street food snacks I used to have in Indonesia as a child. The batter that they used probably contained some rice flour causing the goeey effect… they are yummy especially when they’re still warm. My coworkers loved them too. I ordered the NINJA style with ginger rice. The ginger rice reminded me of the Chinese«chicken hainan rice,» cooked with chicken broth and some ginger. The rice was flavorful although the texture could have been a little dryer(their rice is a bit too mushy for my liking). I asked them to substitute the bacon for more meat, not sure if they did give more meat but the portion was pretty generous. The garlic beef and lemongrass chicken were flavorful and the mushroom tofu was good too. Certainly not the best vietnamese rice plate I’ve had but descent flavor for stuff coming out of a food truck :). Their Kumquat lemonade was a tad too sweet for my liking but as the ice melted, it toned down the sweetness :). Most of my coworkers ordered and LOVED the Thai Ice tea :). The sandwiches were huge!!! and the guys loveeedd them! Most of my coworkers also raved about the Bun(vermicelli noodles). We were a bit bummed that they didn’t have eggrolls and shrimp chips that day but overall, we really enjoyed the dining experience :) Price $ 9 for Ninja style rice or bun(Ninja = combo, all protein), $ 3 for pandan waffles.

«Go with what you know» and«keep it simple». Pair those adages together and you’ll usually end up with a good product and happy customers; O Mi Ninja definitely has this locked down in their business plan — they offer two staple and familiar dishes and make them food-truck fashionable without going over the top. Sure, there’s your choice of any or all the proteins [chicken, pork, beef, tofu, etc., but the only real crossroad is this: bun or banh mi? Vermicelli noodles or baguette sandwich? Utensils or by hand? With or without a fried egg [read: ALWAYSADDANEGG!] Good and tasty or tasty and good? You can’t got wrong with either or any choices, but my preferred vehicle to a post-lunchtime food coma is the tofu & mushroom banh mi w/egg [read” ALWAYSADDANEGG!] For the more ravenous lunch or dinner goer, the namesake«Ninja» is the way to go; bún or bánh mì dressed with all the proteins. ALL the proteins. So imagine taking a bite of a sandwich or a forkful of rice noodle that was all at once a little bit garlicky from shortribs & chicken, salty from pork/bacon/sausage, silky from pâté, aromatic with cilantro, fresh and tangy from pickled carrot & daikon, then spicy from Ninja sauce. Pretty good for a first bite, right? Now picture a foot-long baguette’s worth of that same bite over and over and — yup! — put an egg on it. IF you think you can conquer all of that food and still be hungry, there are a couple of nice accompaniments on the menu to help sate you; shrimp chips, fruit tea drinks w/pearls, and pandan mini-waffles are on regular rotation, but keep an eye out for specials like spring rolls, mango salads, and nacho sweetpotato fries. There’s no shortage of good food, but O Mi Ninja also has GREAT people — this foodtruck is staffed by some of the friendliest people you could come across and their rapport with people/fans/followers adds a personal touch that canno’t be beat; the Silicon Valley lunch rush can be harrying, so to be met by a familiar face and a sweet smile? That’s priceless. Well, it’s time for lunch and now I’m craving banh mi. Better check twitter to see where they’re at… thank goodness these ninjas aren’t good at the whole stealth and hiding thing. ____________________________________ They had one of those 80s-era Sho Kosugi ninja movies playing on the monitor one day: bad acting, boobies, and banh mi. Perfect lunch. Don’t judge me.

Vietnamese sandwiches from a food truck? Yes please. The menu is small — you either get a rice plate or you get a banh mi. You can get that ninja style or not — ninja style includes bacon and a fried egg. Choices of meat include chicken, beef and pork. I went with the normal style banh mi with lemongrass chicken. It was huge(that’s what she said: P)! But no really, it was huge and there was plenty of chicken inside. Taste-wise, it tastes just as good, no better or worst, than what I’ve had before from other places. The jalepenos weren’t as spicy as I had hoped :(but they do have this«ninja sauce» that tastes like a very smokey version of sriracha. Dump it on if you want the spice! I think the sandwiches are on the expensive side. Where you can get a banh mi for ~$ 3, these were $ 6 for a regular and $ 8 for a ninja style one. The truck was pretty cute — they even have a TV screen for while you wait showing TMNT. Nice way to stick with the theme, but how viet sandwiches tie back to ninjas or turtles? No clue.

NINJANINJANINJA! My mom loves the ninja sandwich. I prefer the tofu and mushroom banh mi. Regardless of the name of your sandwich you will not be disappointed. JUSTMAKESUREYOUGETTHENINJASAUCETOO. Mmmmmm ninja power runs through my veins after eating a ninja made sandwich with ninja sauce all over it. I drive to the truck at least once a month or when the truck is in or near Santa Clara. The past few visits have not happened due to truck problems and the cancellation of lunch. :(Truck failures happen often but the ninja staff only have one truck unlike the non-ninja food trucks which have two or even three trucks driving around the Bay Area. The ninja food is needed to ensure you keep put your ninja fighting skills. My family members are true ninjas… we know the way of the ninja and that way is towards the OmiNinja truck! Go NINJA!
