Visiting from Seattle, WA everyone says food is San Jose is way better… I beg to differ… The waiter says Bun Bo Hue and Mi Quang is the specialty so I gave it a try. We order some appetizer especially Banh Beo because that’s a very traditional Hue dish along with the combo appetizer. Everything was so bland and there was no fish sauce or shrimp paste to compliment it. The Banh la felt old and just fell apart when you try to pick it up with chopsticks. The Banh Beo lacked shredded shrimp and very doughy. It was not looking good as we waited for the main dishes. First impression, the Bun Bo Hue bowl was very small, so small it would not accommodate full compliment of vegetables on top. The broth was bland as well and not very hot and no shrimp paste to add. That wasn’t surprising but the meat was unappetizing to me, which was very surprising. It was cut very thick and full of fat. It was 4×2.5×0.33in with white fluffy fat covering over 50% of the meat. Then to top it off, they totally forgot one of the main plate that was ordered. We told them it did not arrived and the waitress had to check the table to make sure we weren’t lying. Like really? Let’s just say, I won’t be coming back anytime soon… Literally. First bad review of the food in SJ.

Bad service ! I order canh bun but they bring out bun Rieu, instead of changing it for customers they act like nothing happen and the bowl look like shit. Doesn’t even look like bun Rieu at all ! Taste very bad !

Banh Beo had so little shredded shrimps. Banh Bot Loc Tran were ok, Banh It Ram were better than other places I have been to.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon around 130ish. It wasn’t busy at all, a lot of open tables that needs to be clean though. They seat us on the left side, along with 4 other tables. As I look around, typical Vietnamese decorations. While looking through the menu, the table behind us had a little boy that kept kicking his chair continuously. The table next to us had a little boy that kept screaming and crying. It was kind of loud that I couldn’t hear what my boyfriend was saying. But as soon as their food came, the little boys were angels. Anyways, the lady came to take our order and now we wait. Now on to the foods: — Banh beo, it was good with the sauce. — Banh uot thit nuong, I liked it. I thought it tasted good but my boyfriend think it’s salty. — Mi quang, it was just ok. They give more bean sprout than the noodles itself. And their noodle was a bit hard. All in all, give this place a 2 stars. The service was slow, never came back to check on us once… Especially when we needed water refills. I should of ordered the bun bo hue instead, because all the other tables around us did. Maybe I’ll order that the next time I decide to come back.

My go-to place for my quang. I have had the dish at multiple places in San Jose, but my quang at My Khe taste better than the rest.

*Cash only* FOOD — Banh Beo: 5 small steamed rice cake topped with dried and chopped fresh shrimp, scallions, and pork skin. These were good with the spicy fish sauce with jalapenos. 3.5÷5 SERVICE Not the friendliest but we got in and out without complaints. 3⁄5 FINALTHOUGHTS I would come back to try other things. I tasted my godson’s broth from his canh bun which was tasty.

My sister and I tried their nem nuong(grilled viet ham spring roll), Hue app combo plate(banh beo, bot loc, banh it, etc…), and bun bo hue tonight, it was OK/fairly good… But not great. I’ve tasted better. The man who took our order was the owner I think, he seemed unhappy to be there and no personality whatsoever… The bill was $ 25.50 plus tip = $ 30… This place takes cash ONLY. Shame.

Today I had the Xoi Ga Da Nang(sticky rice with chicken Da Nang style) and it was one of the best Vietnamese dishes I’ve ever had at restaurant. The chicken was a fresh mix of onions, jalapeños, and boiled chicken and this conplimented the texture of the sticky rice perfectly. The portions were just a bit larger than what you should be eating so it filled me up but not too much, leaving me happily satisfied. Lastly this place is a wonderful atmosphere! The place cleaned itself up and there wonderful scenic photos of Vietnam on the walls. Don’t let the outside plaza deceive you!

The food is decent I’ve had better, I’ve also had worst. BUT the table we sat at was so dirty and the high chair for babies are so so so dirty. I’m sorry but a place being at least decently clean is a huge deal to me. The floor was sticky and the table was sticky and oh lord I couldn’t enjoy my food towards the end because I was just sticking to everything and imagining the germs on the table. I also noticed that they clean the tables with windex… That doesn’t disinfect –_–

I love getting their small appetizer plates to share. Few places serve them cause its really time consuming to make. Their flavor is authentic and fresh. I wish they had cushions on the benches. My rare end was achy after an hour haha.

I always came here as a kid with my family, so this place sorta means something to me? They used to be really good, but over the years I think things has changed. I have never tried anything else here besides the Banh Beo and few of the other appetizers. I would come back still.

Came here and ordered a storm with my uncle… We started with the egg rolls, banh bot loc, banh it, and nem chua wraps. The banh bot loc was a clear favorite in my book– not only was it the best of these appetizers, but even in comparison to banh bot loc I’ve had at other places. For our main entrees, we split the bun bo hue and mi quang. I know the mi quang is supposed to be their specialty, but I enjoyed the bbh broth much more. However, I feel as though the bbh was lacking in meat where as the mi quang had more than a sufficient amount. The bbh also doesn’t come with pig’s knuckle(should be apart of all bbh) and which I really love; so that’s a negative. Maybe at least have an option for me to add it at extra cost? Service was pretty good. A little hot inside for eating hot soups but not so bad.

My family took me here for my 1st time since I’m a big sucker for bun bo hue and banh beo. We went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and it was pretty crowded, but we got a table. Bun bo hue — it was pretty good and especially liked the soup. They added many different variety of meat which is a plus. Banh beo — not bad, but I had better. The other places I tried tasted more delicious.

I haven’t had a chance to try everything, but like most Viet places in SJ, it’s good. I mainly get Mi Quang(tumeric noodles with pork shoulder, shrimp, and all other goodness). It’s a hue place, so don’t expect to see Phở or too many rice plates, but they did have shaking beef. They also have great Viet appetizers. My parents like it, so you know it’s authentic lol.

Today, I went to My Khe Quan Hue for brunch with my family and did not receive the best food or service, as it written on Unilocal. Food: The food looks appealing and was pretty decent; wasn’t the best Hu food I’ve had. As a family, we ordered two plates of bánh khoái, one plate ném nng cun and three bowls of bún bò Hu. Usually, at most restaurants, each dish has either its own dipping sauce or an extra bowl of veggies. But here at My Khe Quan Hue, they made us share a huge plate of veggies for our bún bò Hu and one small bowl of dipping sauce for our bánh khoái. We tried asking for extra sauces and veggies but they kept insisting us on sharing until we asked for the third time, then they decided to provide us with our own sauce and veggie bowl. Don’t get me wrong; I’m big on family-style dining but how could I possibly have some veggies or sauce to dip if I have to share it amongst three other people? Service: The waiters were very sloppy. One guy even talked back at us with an attitude when we told him we were almost out of fish sauce and that we wanted more. Most Vietnamese restaurants aren’t that clean anyway but there was a pile of tissues all over the floor underneath our table. And I completely understand that it’s on a Sunday morning and that there were plenty of customers with only three waiters handling everything BUT they gotta keep in mind that if they serve us well, we’ll tip them well.

Not only is this place cheap, but it is also really yummy and clean. Now I know what you are thinking, why would Theo emphasize clean? Well I will tell you. Most hole in the wall places typically taste great, but are usually really dirty. However, this place is really clean and it is really tasty. Almost all of their dishes are great, but here are some of my favorites. When I go to eat here, I always start my meal off with the Hue Combination. It is a sampler type appetizer that only cost 6 bucks! Wow right?! It includes shrimp banana leaf cake, another meaty appetizer that is wrapped in a banana leaf, pork patties, and shrimp dumplings. Then for my main course I always go with the Bun Bo Hue. I mean, come on, how can you go wrong with Bun Bo Hue?! This dish is a hearty spicy beef soup with some rice noodles. This is one of my favorites in all of Vietnamese cuisine and this place does it justice. So good!

This is a comfort Vietnamese food from Hue(middle Vietnam) style! I love their food here. It is unique in a way that they make it best. There are plenty of other restaurants and buffet style fast food to go places that makes them too, but nothing close to the authentic taste here. I don’t know how to explain it, but after traveling to Vietnam and having seen the back roads and spending time with local families, you just know good Vietnamese food, and this is a good one! Several dishes I would recommended trying here would be the Banh Bot Loc(shrimp tapioca buns) which has a crispy and doughy in texture. My other favorite and I highly recommend trying is Com Hen(clams with rice). They give you a shrimp paste sauce to season and comes with complimentary clear broth clam soup and a «chicharones style» chip as a compliment. Try ordering their Banh uot thit nuong(which is a roll with grilled pork). That one is so good. The last time I was here I also ordered their Rare Steak Beef soup which is probably one of the best I’ve had. It is not Bun Bo Hue but it is similar but the broth is less spicy, and the beef is very tender and melts in your mouth. PS — like most Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose, it is cash only but there is an ATM inside. :p

After all these years of going to Thanh Son for tofu, I never noticed that My Khe was just a few stores down! Very important tip: CASHONLY! Ms. Dopesauce had suggested it for Mi Quang & since I’ve never had it before, why not make it a lunch date? It’s located across from Grand Century & Vietnam Town so the streets can become congested around here. I came in & was warmly greeted by one of the waitresses. I told her I was waiting for someone else but she still walked me over to a table to sit & brought over some water. She checked up on me quite often as I waited. When I decided to order first, an order of banh beo & one small mi quang, she smiled and said«you must be hungry!» The banh beo came out hotter than most places I’ve been to, which I like! The flour cake is pretty fresh, it doesn’t have a sitting-out-for-way-too-long taste. The fried pieces of pork skin were huge! It gave the banh beo texture but I think I prefer less. I wasn’t quite sure how to eat the mi quang but I broke up the sesame rice crackers then mixed everything up. I noticed they also give more broth than other places. It was really flavorful & I enjoyed it a lot. The only negative thing is that the spare ribs were kinda fatty! I wish they used tender pork belly like I’ve seen before. The pieces that had a lot of meat were good though, I was impressed! I spent a total of $ 11 and left a happy customer(: I would come back and take my family to try this place! It’s not flooded with patrons and the service was nice, considering that most Vietnamese places are eat >FO!
