Ms. Chung was a tremendous help to me when I needed serious advice about my taxes with regard to deductions from the time I was co-​owner of the house with my ex-​husband. Back in ’07, my divorce decree stated that I could deduct the house since I was the full owner of it but couldn’t refinance his name off the loan since I was underwater, as is the case for many homeowners. He decided in the last year to claim the deduction of the house as well as the kids, instead of just the kids as was outlined in our decree, since he paid the mortgages outright instead of paying me in the form of child support and alimony.
