Kaliber Construction

I would have loved to be able to bestow a glowing review for Kaliber Construction. However, the actions (or should I say «in-​action») of this business left me no choice.
I called early last week and spoke with «Jeff» (James? Jeff? Maybe I misheard?). He told me he was very busy with a remodel project but I asked if I could get an estimate for my job anyway. He arranged to come to my house on Thursday, Oct 15 at 5:30pm.
Approximately 1 hour before our appt on Thursday, I received a call from «Jeff» saying that he was sorry but he had double booked himself and had a previous appointment. I thought that was a little flaky but we agreed to meet the next day (Fri, Oct 16) at 5:30pm.
Well, 5:30p came an went with no phone call and no «Jeff» at my door.
If you don’t want my business, then just say so. No need to play games and leave me hanging with 2 no shows resulting in a less-​than-​glowing Unilocal review.

James designed and built a replacement for our existing deck in September 2014.
He and his team did excellent, careful work, adapted plans to fit the existing structure, and created a deck that was not just a newer version of the old one, but was also better looking and better supported. He definitely cares about the details, even those that will be covered up later on. He consulted with us regularly as design questions came up during the construction, and figured out elegant solutions for fitting an existing A/​C unit, retaining wall, and planned tree location into the design.
James was very clear about cost breakdowns, materials choices, and any changes as the work proceeded. He presented several options for railings, and for attaching the main surface boards to the structure with concealed fasteners, and described the costs, labor, and maintenance considerations for each choice.
We would definitely work with James again!

We have only positive reviews for James. He has done several projects for us. We started with a bath remodel and were very happy with his quality, responsiveness, and professionalism. His advice is reasonable and those which «save» money. We can say with confidence, he will treat your project as he would his own.

James has done several jobs for me. He is on time. He gets back to his customers and listens to them. I would recommend his to my best friends and I have.

James at Kaliber Construction is a craftsman at handyman prices.
He’s come and worked on our home several times and each time was a project that offered some challenges to basically come in and fix what another contractor did incorrectly years before.
I enjoyed watching how he would study the current state trying to figure out how to make it right, and not just treat the symptom (like one side of our porch was sinking) but to rectify the root cause so the problem would not appear again.
Kaliber has become my go to construction company, to address my remodel, repair and new addition needs.
BTW, James is a pretty laid back guy and has a very good sense of humor, so I also appreciate the no pressure attitude and his wit to make the project fun.
