Made me wait 30 mins for a burger. Served my vegetarian cali burger with bacon. Worst food i have tasted by far ! Not exaggerating! Worst decision to stop here at san jose airport

I was an absolute fool in thinking last time was just a fluke and that this time would be better. Instead of walking to the other end of the airport, I gave-in to my laziness and came here. What a joke of a restaurant. I’m not even quite sure how they’re still in business? Just like my last visit, the food is good. I had the BLT. It was excellent, and for that I give them a star. The problem isn’t and has never been the food. It’s the service. Or absence thereof. I spent a good fifteen minutes waiting for some water and to have my order taken. Thankfully the food always come out quick here! After 20 minutes of trying to get either waiters attention to give me my check, I got up and walked over to the waiter who was twiddling his thumbs. After expressing my discontent with the service all he could say was«I’m sorry we didn’t see you». Uh huh. I’m not even going to waste the rest of my time on how effed up that was to say.

Absolutely the worst customer service you could get. Ordered chicken sandwich, exactly how I wanted. Came out exactly opposite and then the bartender in front of me told the chef I screwed the order up. Cashed out and left. If you want to listen to employees complain and eat in front of you this is your place. Joke.

Here’s the thing: when your menu is limited, your food is meh and your location is bad, it’s really just your people that make a difference. Difference made. Thank you, thuggish bartender/host, for helping me understand that. I’m now lunching at Joe’s. Nice people.

While waiting for my plane to come in 5÷9÷2016 and I wanted some food… I stumbled upon flames because it was right near my terminal… came in was seated it was a pretty nice atmosphere for a small eatery. Had a bar and TV’s nice touch. Menu was not big but that’s no problem. I ordered a bacon, Avocado chicken burger with sweet potato fries nice touch… omgoodness it was delicious! Worth the 12 bucks for sure! Juicy tender chicken, full of avocados and bacon! If ur near Alaska Airlines gate N27(I think that is where it was) Stop in and have a bite if ur hungry… The service was great, staff was great and really attentive… and kudos to the cooks!

Great Airport restaurant! Had the Salmon Salad. Good portion, not too much dressing, salmon was cooked just right! I travel a lot and this was a refreshingly fresh and tasty meal!

Stopped in for first time today. I travel through sjc almost weekly so figured I would give it a try as it is kinda new. Ordered a BLT. Quite possibly the world’s worst BLT. Dry bacon. Dry bread. Old tomato. Service was OK but not stellar by any stretch. Maybe the other dishes are good I don’t know but the BLT was really bad. I went to the newsstand next door to get something to fill my appetite.

Food is decent but they are continually slow. It always seems like I’m invisible here. Currently I’m sitting here and my tea has been empty for about 15 minutes. I asked for ranch and never got it. Last time I ordered a soup and it came out 45 minutes later. If you’re desperate then it’s not too bad. At the airport you’re rather limited of course. If you’re in a rush you might want to look elsewhere.

The one star is for the fact that I have been to Flames several times before and loved it. This particular encounter was less than satisfactory and I hope the owner/Gm reads these reviews. Have a flight out to Austin this morning heading to South by Southwest convention and actually happy my flights delayed. This means I get to grab a bite at one of my favorite breakfast spots. I head over to Flames its somewhat busy(which is usual) and I stand by the«please wait to be seated sign». Its been at least 5 minutes now and a tall Caucasian waiter has walked by me at least twice now not even addressing me. It seems they were short staffed but some type of acknowledgement is common courtesy. His third round by me still says nothing so I say«excuse me is this self seating or will someone seat me»(mind you I was not being rude just a simple question). He looks at me with a look of frustration and almost disgust that I even spoke to him and says to me «look we are really busy this morning and only have two people on staff, your just going to have to wait». I can’t tell you how fast my heart started to race due to my immediate shock and anger. It was just so surprising how openly rude this man was to me. Now I hardly ever pull the race card but I am a African American man and was dressed in sports attire. I would hate to say this treatment was due to my appearance but at this point im not ruling it out. I did not get a chance to get the gentleman’s name but like i said he stands about 6 foot 1, maybe 6 foot 2 and looked to have a balled head. This happened Friday March 11th at 8:35 am at the San Jose Airport Flames. The funny thing is im currently eating at Original Joes right now(food getting cold writing this review). They are way more busy and within 2 minutes of waiting by their«please wait to be seated sign» Im greeted by a waitress who is also extremely busy. She walks by quickly and says«we are super busy sir but someone will help you shortly» and then smiles. I know its small but its the little things that make or break a return customer. I will never return to the Flames at the airport to eat again and frankly this gentleman has tarnished the flames brand in my mind. Thanks

We had breakfast this morning here and everything was cold, there was three people in the restaurant; no reason for that. We paid 30 bucks for something that we should probably paid only 15 including the tip. They had only liquid eggs, no shelled eggs. The place was dirty, there was food on the napkins. Apparently, they had no money in the till to give change. So, way to set up your crew for failure. We definitely would not recommend. Oh the waiter was nice.

The main reason to choose this eatery is Josh! I would come here from another terminal just to be seated at Josh’s table. He goes above and beyond to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of the diners. Josh memorizes everyone’s flights so that he can let you know when your gate is boarding! He allows you to work while eating and keeps you posted on when you’ll need the check. Airport food is pretty standard, so excellent service makes all the difference.

Flames Eatery and Bar, San Jose Airport, San Jose, CA Wednesday, while waiting for the Alaska Air 1:45 I had a great cheese burger, probably one of the best that I have ever had, the staff were most pleasant and gave great service.

More expensive but thicker drinks as compared with San Jose joes. I would do San Jose joes because you can get second shot on a double half off but decent bar and food is comparable but not better really.

Colossally poor experience here on the afternoon of January 15. This experience was at the bar. My wife ordered a call martini with«rocks on the side». The rocks never came until she asked a 2nd time of the person busing tables because the bartender disappeared. I ordered two beers. Do you think the bartender gave me a cold glass with the 2nd one? Nope. Again, from the person busing the tables that came forward with it when I asked for it. Here’s the clincher. We got the bill. $ 12 each for martinis. An added charge of $ 10 that wasn’t identified. We asked what this was & the inattentive bartender said«if I’d have poured you just a shot, it would have been very small». I said he could have let us know before doing it & charging us for it. The grand finale? His response«If you’d have asked me, I’d have told you.» Needless to say, $ 17 for a martini is stupid. You don’t pay that much at the most exclusive hotel bar in the country. The bartenders service sucked & packing on a double without asking was over the top. We got the last laugh with the tip. I recommend you avoid this establishment. There are several others at the airport & my experience with all of them was better than this. Based on the reviews here, this restaurant’s management appears to be oblivious to what is happening at their place of business.

San Jose, CA Airport location Flames Eatery & Bar Perfect location at the airport if you’re taking an Alaska Airline flight because it’s directly across from the Alaska Airline departure gates. I read some of the other reviews and it feels like I was eating at a different restaurant then some of the other reviewers. I ordered a hamburger with bacon and cheese and it was perfect as far as cheese burgers go. The service was very punctual and helpful as well as friendly. I’d definitely eat here again.

Having eaten at the Flames chain previously, I was not impressed with this location and the quality of the food. I have always been told to perform the feedback sandwich when giving some constructive criticism… so here it goes. Bread: The atmosphere here is very nice with plush seating, a good selection of alcohols at the bar, and TVs. Once inside you can easily forget you are actually at the airport… but don’t do that… because you might miss your flight! Meat: Ambiance is only part of an experience, and the food should be filling and enjoyable. I ordered one of their omelets with the hash browns and was unsatisfied with the flavors and the presentation of the dish. The omelet was nothing to write home about and had that massed produced semi-rubbery feel to the eggs with an interlining of filling. The hash browns were cold and not flavorful, seemed like there was no seasoning on them at all. They were mushy and did not have crispness to them. I had originally asked to substitute my toast for fruit, and my dish came out with toast AND some fruit(7 grapes to be exact) – at sadly the toast was the best cooked item on the plate. Perhaps they do better with other dishes, but this one was not a win. Bread: I do give major props to the service staff, who was friendly and attentive. When I said the hash browns were cold, she had the kitchen cook me up a new set(warm, but sadly still not tasty or crispy). The service staff here is what saved this from receiving only one star. The coffee was also decent, if you need a cup. this would be a good place to enjoy it, but that is about it.

Definitely average airport eats. If you’re stuck waiting for a flight in this terminal though, you’ll quickly realize the better options are a brisk walk away, and unless you’re two hours early, and you want something quick, Flames is as good a choice as you’re gonna get. I wasn’t really in the mood for fries or a burger(or even«brunch») or a mediocre salad from their salad bar, so I definitely ordered the sketchiest fish tacos I’ve ever eaten. I sipped on a glass of white wine and inhaled my tacos in an effort to forget that I didn’t ask what kind of fish they were even made from(the menu does not state what it is either) until it was time to pay and board my flight. The bar is pretty well stocked with liquor, wine and beer, and there are a few TV’s so if you’re lazy like me, and too lazy to walk further away from your terminal, Flames will keep you occupied until it’s time to board.
