Like the art itself the classes here are pretty free flowing. They teach almost all ages, starting at 6 and going up all the way. The senseis are very approachable and humble in their awesomeness. The classes are easy to follow and without knowing how you find yourself doing and performing Aikido. The value you receive for the money you spend is off the charts. Cheaper monthly than a lot of gyms and they actually teach you something here that you will carry into every aspect of your life, not just when you find yourself fighting for it. All in all I recommend this place to anyone looking to become more familiar with yourself and learn to defend yourself at the same time.

Aikido of San Jose is AMAZING! Both of my sons, ages 6 and 8, LOVE it. The instructors are great and the studio is beautiful. I highly recommend Aikido to San Jose to any parent.

Highly recommended. I wanted to find a place that would teach my daughter how to defend herself. Last year, we tried a Tae Kwon Do place near our home. It was terrible. It was like a boot camp complete with a drill sargeant shouting in the kid’s faces. The emphasis was on hitting and attacking. The teenagers had bruised faces. Aikido of San Jose is just the opposite. Here, there is no yelling or shouting. Aikido is primarily a self-defense martial art that enables one to use the attacker’s energy against the attacker. The dojo(classroom) is spacious, well-lit, clean, and peaceful. The instructors are experts, and are very calm, friendly, and excellent teachers. They emphasize safe techniques to avoid injuries. My daughter loves the place. She is learning to roll without getting hurt, and to defend herself. The instructors instill discipline, respect and skill. None of the kids feel threatened. They have classes for young kids, teenagers and adults. They are able to integrate novices into a class without making them feel uncomfortable. The prices are very reasonable, and you can pay on a monthly basis. I highly recommend Aikido of San Jose.
