Good-Ish Got 3 dishes(see pictures): The white noodles with chicken was okay, the broth was rich but I’m pretty sure it had MSG hidden in it. It was a bit boring. The pork belly in stone pot was good, but the meat could’ve been softer. The broth was liquid and I kinda wished it was thicker so the rice wouldn’t get all watery. Flavor was great though. The third dish was the spicy(3 red peppers) dish where you choose the one or two meats. I went with fish and pork blood(great quality pork blood i must say) — It was doused with what looked like a whole bag of crushed red peppers that fell on the dish by mistake. It was spicy, not deadly, but tingling on your tongue. It was too much of the same thing — Underneath it all it was chock full of veggies(nappa cabbage and bean sprouts). Dig deep! 3 dishes for 3 people with eft overs: $ 40 inc tip/tax All in all, it was good, but not so good that i can’t wait to come back…

I’ve never heard of Yunan until my partner took me here. I wanted to try a different restaurant but my partner said that there was a similar place to the one that I wanted to go to, that’s how we ended at Yunan. We ordered a cold appetizer, spicy dumplings, and the their house special house noodle. That was definitely more than enough for the both of us. I thought the food was going to be too spicy for me but I was wrong. The heat level was perfect and enjoyable, it enhanced the food rather than just numbing your mouth. The house noodle paired really well with the spicy dumpling and the cold appetizer. The noodles weren’t spicy so it provided a great balance since the dumplings and the appetizers were spicy already. I definitely plan on coming back and taking my friends here since Yunan is a hidden gem in the SGV. There’s a lot so parking is not an issue.

Great food for a good price. The place isn’t super fancy, but all the tables are set with a white table cloth & complimentary tea is served upfront, before taking orders. Had the Mongolian Beef(beef with green onions) and fried rice. Really delicious food. Beef is very tender without being greasy. Would go here more often if i lived in the neighborhood.

This is not a review, just FYI. I saw their ad to sell this restaurant and the one in Chino Hills. So it could be under new management now.

So I’ve been coming to this restaurant for a very long time and A LOT has changed in a year. I ordered the usual noodle soup and spicy mutton with fried rice. The noodle soup was funny and has an odd taste, and the spicy mutton wasn’t spicy at all. The fried rice was basically streamed and they gave us a plate of bland sticky unknown vegetable. I would never come here again.

Hailing from the Crossing over the bridge noodle(过线米线) capital, Yunnan, I can tell you that this restaurant serves far from the real thing. I’ve been coming to this place for years, and each time it seems that the authenticity, quality, and service just worsen. It’s funny that they still have the«TOP100 Chinese Restaurants» from 2009 posted on their wall. Who are you trying to fool? On Christmas Eve, a friend and I hoped to enjoy a nice, quiet meal at this place. Why not go to Yunnan Garden where we can have a reminiscing meal to remind us of our hometown? WORSTDECISIONEVER!!! As soon as we entered the restaurant, there were two tables full of obnoxious, boisterous FULL-GROWN adults yelling, barking(literally), laughing, and getting drunk. Unfortunately, the space is small so the other customers could hear everything that was going on. The other customers were obviously annoyed and kept on giving them dirty looks, but I guess the two tables were oblivious because they continued being extremely loud for the next forty min. The worst part is that the boss, probably a older 20s male, joined in on their little party instead of quieting them down. Very unprofessional and classless move. In addition to having a circus act as background music for our entire meal, the waiters and waitresses seemed very passive. A couple of times, I had to physically stand up, walk towards a waitress who was just lounging around the cash register, and ask her to give us napkins which should have been there in the beginning of the meal! When I signaled the waitress to quiet down the loud tables, she just stared at me blankly and speechless as if I was speaking Portuguese to her. Overall, it was a terrible experience and almost ruined my holiday spirit. And I say almost because at least it was easy to find parking.

For sure this book by its cover. It looks old n raggedy, but I can assure you, it won’t disappoint. Dan Dan Noodles Spicy. But the noodles themselves are awesome. Pretty sure they are made in house. This was so good that after ordering the first one, my family ordered two more; one more for the table, and the other to take home. Highly recommended. You can also go up to the counter and get their awesome cold dishes. I believe you get to choose up to three different kinds for around $ 7.

Not a particularly attractive place. A nice little gem on Las Tunas. Service is very Asian, the«typical sit over there or wherever you like» type of deal. I absolutely LOVE their house special mi xian and their raw potato slices. I always always get this combo. You will not be disappointed!!! check out my picture :)

I would have given this place a 4 star but because of the unnecessary over abundance of oil in many of the dishes, I give it a three star. I felt queasy after the meal from the oils. This is an acceptable Yunnan Place but it does not rate at the top of my spicy dining list. The cumin lamb is better than most places but not the best. There is no detectable numbing pepper in any of the dishes which is not a good thing for me. The boiled fish is average, so is everything else. There were not any outstanding dishes here. Edible but not great. The fried garlic convulvus was the best dish in my mind.

I just returned to the states after four years in China. This is the most authentic place I’ve been to thus far in the states. If you’re used to Americanized Chinese food this place is going to be too much for you. It will knock your socks off. From the moment I walked in I knew it was going to be good because it smelled like China. The food looked like Sichuan food I’ve had in China. And yes, it tasted like it. We ordered so many dishes that I can’t remember but everything was delicious. Everything. And don’t neglect the cold dishes you order from the bar area. Those were spot on also. The different vegetable dishes were tasty and very authentic. I’m going to guess they used MSG(I don’t know for sure), but it sure tasted that way and we loved it! MSG gets a bad rap here. They use it liberally in China. It’s supposed to help with digestion(who knows if it’s true). The only thing that tasted Americanized was the fried rice, but strangely I didn’t mind that at all and it seemed to go well with everything else we ate. I hear Chinese tour groups come here in droves for their comfort food and I can understand why. It was literally a taste of China(or a taste of home if you’re Chinese). I can’t wait to go back.

If there were ever an international spicy competition, I would take my chances with Sichuan against any cuisine in the world. The amount of chilis that they used must be astronomical. I bet the richest man in this region is a purveyor of chilis. We ordered the Stir Fried Frog Legs, Chili Fish, Chili Chicken Wings and a platter of cold assorted mixed of pork appetizer which you can order near the cash register. My favorite was definitely the Frog Legs. It was stir fried with various veggies that it included bamboo shoots. I love it when ‘exotic’ food is cooked as in a regular dish that doesn’t involve coating it in batter and deep frying it. There’s more favor and you can actually taste the meat which by the way doesn’t taste like chicken. It’s when you deep fry stuff that makes it taste like chicken. Be weary of the old saying… What comes in must come out. If you think it was spicy when you were eating. The same feeling will await you when you’re body is ready to push it all out. Enjoy!

Parents didn’t want to try the spicy stuff… so they got the weird noodles with soup, tasted like chicken broth with some veggies and noodles… nothing special at all… I got the dan dan noodles, which were really good and flavorful… they were relatively spicy and I’m no newbie when it comes to spice… It builds up so that you have to pause for a bit in the middle of your meal. meh. was still good though. We also got the small plates, where it allowed you to choose three different items… we got the smoked chicken, some pork ear? and some lima beans. didn’t care much for the pork or the bean, but the smoked chicken was great. only gave us five pieces though… I would come here in the future but probably to try their other things… it seems more worth it to order take out and get some small plates and go home and eat it with rice… would be four stars if we didn’t get four bowls of bland noodles…

UGHH this place had some potential to be good… But omg this place was infested with gnats when me and my girlfriend came here one night. It was just so gross that we couldn’t even eat anymore, we stopped halfway and just left. My friend had 2 gnats fly on her plate and into her food. One gnat also fell into her water, and then another one flew in again after they changed her water. What made me upset was that the waitresses didn’t really seem to care. I mean, they said sorry, but they weren’t as apologetic as some other restaurants would be. They seriously looked confused as if they think it’s normal to eat with bugs flying around. Hello?! We’re not in freaking Asia where everything is dirty. They didn’t even give us free food or discount for anything. We just had a bunch of gnats fly into our food while we’re eating! That’s disgusting! But anyways now I’ll talk about their food, since I did say they had potential. We got their achoy with garlic which was yummy. We also got their appetizers that they have on the side. My favorite is their tofu! This is a must get, it has like chili oil in it which I love. When you bite into it it’s juicy and has a lot of flavor in it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Their mung bean jelly was not good! I suggest you get this at places like spicy city or Chengdu taste. The mung bean jelly here lacks sauce, their jelly is too fat and I hate how I kept having to mix it myself all the time just to get sauce on it. I like it when it’s already drenched in spicy sauce. This was also not even spicy at all. I would forsure come back for the tofu, but only if I togo… I’m to scared to go and sit there and be attacked by gnats.

The food here is very good. The dishes are mainly from the Hunan province of China. And having been to many parts of China before, I have to say that I really like the food they provide here. You’ll find that they have foods from different parts of China and not just Hunan. Additionally they offer cold dishes that are really good.

Looove the boiled fish slices in schezuan sauce(…or whatever it’s called) — it’s my favorite. And the Dan Dan noodles. And the spicy wontons. And the spicy chicken. nugget. pieces. Haha, clearly, I do not do the ordering(because my husband orders in Chinese), but I love it all. All the food is super flavorful and everything is just done well. I love taking friends and family to eat here because it’s just that good and I want to share the joy of eating there. It’s always easier to go if you have a Chinese person with you to order because they’re pretty authentic in there. But I don’t think it would be too much trouble if we only spoke English. Bottom line: if you like spicy food, go to yunnan and you will not be disappointed.

This place is pretty good. Though their parking structure seems small, it isn’t difficult to get a spot or to park on the street. Do not be decepted by the lack of people actually eating the restaurant since a lot of people come and go buying food to-go. When ordering you can pretty much get a great deal on the side dishes they have lined up in a buffet kind of style. It ranges from marinated celery to salty peanuts. It’s your typical, Chinese side dishes. Something that I’ll always come here for is their dandan mien. It is so good! Be aware that they are on the spicy side, but for this dish, if it isn’t spicy it isn’t as good. Other dishes are simply ok, but not as great as their mien. I might be biased since I have a very low tolerance for spicy food, but if you love spicy food then you will probably enjoy their dishes. As far as service, they are fast to bring out your dishes and rather attentive since the restaurant isn’t usually completely full.

Noodles were tasty. Had some appetizers and it was good. A bit disappointed in the onion pancake. Too dense and overcooked. Probably will come back again for just the noodles and appetizers. Maybe will try the spicy wontons next time.

Arrived on a Saturday late evening after attempting to go to Newport Seafood but there was a long wait. I lucked out and found street parking. Once entering we were seated immediately. The food here is Hunan style so the majority of the dishes are spicy. Opted for the boiled fish & veggies stew and the cumin lamb. Both entrees were spicy and definitely got me sweating — but was yummy! I heart the mixture of veggies in the fish entrée and the generous amount of lamb was lean. Service here was attentive and prompt for a Asian restaurant. Overall, the ability to get in and out and enjoy a solid meal would definitely get me to return here again.

I came here with my friend NH last December for dinner since she had read positive reviews on Unilocal for this place. It was a chilly night and we wanted some delicious warm food. We got the following: – Dandan Noodles: I couldn’t have this since it came with nuts. NH ate it; she thought they were just okay. – Spicy Wontons in Chili Oil: These were very spicy to me but at the same time really addicting. Quite good, but if you have a low spice tolerance like me, you will need the rice to help even out the spiciness: P – Fat Pork Slices with Garlic: I love pork belly and I love garlic, so you would think I would have loved this dish. The thing is, as much as I love salty food, there is such a thing as TOOSALTY. And that’s what this dish was. WAYTOOSALTY. I had to eat a dispropotionate amount of rice with every single bite of this pork belly because I was so overwhelmed by the saltiness. The spicy wontons here are this place’s saving grace, at least in my eyes. Without them, I would have given this place two stars. It’s easy to find, has its own parking lot, and we were seated immediately when we went(it was pretty empty). Service is just eh. But seeing as I couldn’t eat the dandan noodles and the pork belly was ridiculously salty, I would not even think about coming back here again… if not for the spicy wontons which would make me say yes if any of my friends were to eat here.
