3.5 stars. I feel like I need to read my own review before revisiting. Always getting the same stuff or making the same mistakes. Got the 香鍋 again(which is Spicy Dry Pot Base @ $ 3.99). The other choice is 麻辣燙 «mala» or Spicy wet/Soup Base. Got mild again, but it was spicy enough for my tastebuds. Also got an assortment of ingredients. Ended up picking the fish protein & egg noodle again(choose meat or fish protein & rice or noodle at the cashier counter). Fish pieces weren’t as dry as last time. The taste was good. Happy with my selections. It’s the price that’s outrageous… or maybe I picked out too many items?! Sigh~ Really need to cut it down next time. Had the Sea Salt Cream Top Iced Green Tea. They’ve raised the price to $ 4.50 @@ Thought the green tea was light in terms of tea flavor. The sea salt cream top thing is the same as everywhere else. Not sure if it’s worth the price tag for the taste. Service was fine. Overall, taste in food is good enough, but drinks are ok. My biggest thing about this place is still the price. Especially now that there’s no grand opening discount, it’s even more expensive. Spending $ 25 on lunch with a drink seem quite steep. ======= *Found a piece of metal wire in my food! Should have taken a picture. Oh well, won’t be going back.

This place is good! We actually came in for bun guon, but the place closed already. So we decided to try this new place that took over. The concept is like Chipotle and hot pot fusion, but you serve yourself. They make you a fry pot or soup pot of the food items you pick out. The food came out soooo good! Drinks are good too! The waitress gave us a sample of their rose yogurt tea. She was really nice.

I’m a huge fan of dry hot pot after eating at this restaurant. I really like the concept of being able to select my own toppings instead of ordering from a pre-determined menu(like many other dry hot pot places do). The vegetables aren’t always fresh but I don’t mind that too much. To see my selection of toppings, please refer to the pictures that I uploaded — varies from fish cakes, tofu, different types of meat, bok choy, cabbages, noodles, etc. The kind of spice that they use on the hot pot is szechuan spice — the numbing kind! I love it even though my stomach might disagree. I even ate the leftovers a day or two after and it still tasted great. However, I would suggest to eat it with rice — helps to calm down the flavors. I would also suggest starting your meal with appetizers as well! The Popping Fish Balls AREAMAZING! Takoyaki was also delicious. I would skip out on the popcorn chicken though. Don’t forget to end your meal with their fresh milk teas(Green Milk Tea is my favorite from there)! Service was good — they used limited English but they were polite about it.

You select the items you want and place them into a big bowl. Then you bring the bowl to the register. The cashier will take down the items in your bowl by hand writing. They calculate the total price«after» the meal and bring you the bill to your table. There was a client arguing about her bill after she finished eating — She said she was overcharged for items that she didn’t get. Well, they should list out the total price«before» they cook and double check with the client to avoid dispute. The spicy mala flavor is good. There’s many appetizers and snacks on the menu. The popcorn chicken had way too much batter and the meat pieces were tiny. The food sitting in the counter didn’t seem too fresh.

Dry Pot and Hot Pot is pretty good here. I suggest to get it not Spicy. Grab an empty bowl when you walk in and select your topping. Bring it to the cashier and tell them what kind of meat and pot you want. Be aware they charge by toppings. It can get pretty pricey. I shared the pot with my friend both times I’ve been there and it was plenty. I also like their Rose Milk Tea, less sweet.

The concept is good and the flavors are not bad. Main issue is it gets really pricey fast because you pay for each item you add to your bowl. Dinner for my wife and I was $ 65. For that price I expect more of a wow factor. Second issue is the heat. I get it. Its supposed to be spicy. And I like heat. But their scale is way off. My wife got Mild. Mild should not have sliced peppers in it. She couldn’t even stomach it. I got medium and I literally lost feeling in my tongue. Third and finally… I do not understand why they charge you for vegetables and then add more when cooking. For example my wife added cabbage to hers and paid for it and I did not. But mine was filled with cabbage when the pot came. Cabbage and bean sprouts are clearly used as a filler and I would rather get just what I ordered.

My first time at this place and it will be my last! I literally just stepped out of this place 45 minutes later with 4 drinks… Seriously… 45 minutes for 4 drinks!!! Even half and half tea house with a long line that goes outside their doors doesn’t take 45 minutes for a couple of drinks, and this place had 3 staffs with 2 tables consisting of 6 customers total. The service here sucks, after 30 minutes of ordering my drink they told me that they had no more grass jelly and they didn’t have time to cook it so ask if I would add boba instead. I don’t understand why they couldn’t have told me when I ordered… And after I told them that’s fine, it took them at least another 15 minutes to give me my order. And after she brought it out to me, ask if I needed a bag… Like seriously?! How was I suppose to carry 4 full drinks with unsealed lids out the door on a rainy day!!! If you have time to waste, then I wouldn’t stop you from going here, otherwise, don’t even step into this place…

Been here for a few times, never disappointed! They bring out the authentic flavor of Chinese street food, Very tasty and flavorful. The ingredients are very fresh. and I don’t think that they have Msg like other Chinese restaurants. Staffs are friendly and helpful! I absolutely love this place !! Recommended !!!

I would actually give this place a 3.5-star rating The idea is definitely unique and they incorporated the the best of both spicy worlds, soupy and dry«pots». When you go in, there is a self-serve bar on the side where you pick and choose what ingredients you want in your food(kind of like those Mongolian stir fry minus the packasmuchasyoucan factor because everything has a unit price). The food was enjoyable, and mild spiciness was enough to make us sweat. The takoyaki was also very delicious, definitely one of the better takoyakis I have had. Now, onto why I took off 1.5 stars– I felt like the price for the dry pot and ma la tang was a little on the more expensive side(Afterall, you could get a bigger portion dry pot for similar price at other dry pot specialty restaurants). Also, every time after I took 2 – 3 bites, I would have to drink water — not because it was spicy, but because it was more on the salty side? or is it MSG? I couldn’t really tell. Lastly, my dry pot seemed a little too oily. Half way through the meal, I realized the bottom of my pot was drenched in oil/chili oil, which was not ok for me. Overall though, I did enjoy my experience here and the staff were friendly. I would want to come back next time to try some of their snacks and drinks! :)

This place is now my favorite place to eat dry pot. A couple of things stood out to me from the start. 1. Friendly service — the staff was nice and was patient in answering any questions we may have 2. Clear directions on how to order — they have a board over the food station that describes the cost breakout and instructions on how to proceed once you’re ready to order. You can pick out the veggies and other ingredients you want at the food station area then you go to the register where you can select what meat, noodle, and additional toppings you may want. 3. Sauce station — you can make your own sauce at the table next to the cashier. In addition to the dry pot, my bf and I also had their fries and strawberry green tea with boba. Their boba is pink! Yay! Their drinks are pretty cheap. It was $ 3.25 for our drink which comes in a large cup when you would normally pay for probably a bit more elsewhere. Personally, I think their drinks are comparable to A+ Teahouse. The boba was nice and soft. Our bill for two people came out to around $ 33 which isn’t bad considering we ordered fries and a drink. Overall, this place is great and I can’t wait to come back next time! This place gets a thumbs up from me! :)

Came here recently for dinner with my GF. It is located in the Plaza with the Golden Soup Restaurant. Plenty of parking in the plaza but it can get crowded. The place focuses on Dry and Wet Pots(Spicy Pots). They also serve traditional Chinese/Taiwanese snacks and Boba Drinks. The concept is similar to Hot Kitchen in Alhambra except that instead of employees filling the bowl with whatever you choose and weighing it, you choose whatever you want in a bowl and then you hand it to them. The nice thing is that the price per item is fixed so you know how much you will be paying before going to the cashier as opposed to weighted. Items they have are cilantro, mushrooms, lotus roots, spam, sausage, fish eggs, lobster eggs and much more. Once at the cashier, you choose the meat you want, the level of spiciness and carb(rice, noodles, etc) in additional you whatever you have in your bowl. I got the Spicy Dry Pot with Beef and Tripe as my meats. On my bowl I had cilantro, mushrooms and bamboo shoots. When the food came out, it came with bean sprouts, cabbage and of course chilies. The Spicy one was definitely too spicy for me as I was sweating throughout the meal. The taste was great and definitely better than Hot Kitchen. Service was meh. Although friendly, the staff lacked initiative. Waters were never refilled until asked. We also got the crispy chicken as an appetizer and it was meh. No one told us there was going to be cheap cheese inside. Would I come back? Maybe. Definitely better than Hot Kitchen.

3.5 Star round up to 4 After Hot Kitchen, I started paying attention to different spicy dry pot places and my Taiwanese friend recommended me this new spicy dry pot spot. It’s 15% off during their soft opening period! Unlike other spicy dry pot places where staff pick the ingredients for you, they provide a ingredients bar for you to pick what you want for your dry pot. This is actually way more convenient because sometimes I want more or less for specific ingredients and I can totally control the volume here. After done picking ur desired ingredients, you bring the basket to the front desk and then choose the meat, spicy level and base(ramen, rice, noodles etc.) Here are the basic price info of ingredients: Fish balls($ 1.5 each), Veggie($ 0.75 each), Meats($ 2.5 each), Base($ 1 each) You can also choose to cook as dry pot or wet pot. I choose medium spicy level and ramen as base. At first, I thought it wasn’t spicy enough because the color of food look very plain. However, after I took a first bite, I totally changed my mind. It was spicy and super flavorful, I just had to mix the food well. I love how the cabbage was cooked to soft and immersed with the broth well. For snacks, I got their Taiwanese crispy chicken. It was delicious, the skin was super crispy and has this moist cheese between the meat. Their drink was also refreshing and surprisingly cheap too. I got their guava green tea with aloe vera. I could not taste much guava flavor but I don’t mind at all because the tea still tasted delicious. Overall, this is much cleaner and better spot compared with Hot Kitchen. I would not mind to come back to spicy dry pot again.

And… my first 1 star review goes to Street Party! Woohoo… One of the most frustrating meals I’ve had in a loooong time. There is only one word that can describe this restaurant: slow. slow. SLOW. Came with a group of coworkers for lunch today and in total, we waited 2 hours for our food. Our orders didn’t even come remotely close to arriving at the same time so it was a pretty awkward dining experience. Our appetizers came at first and then everything just.stopped. What a tease. For our main dish we all ordered the ma la tang. My coworker’s order came after 30 minutes. Then mine came after another 30 minutes. Then my other coworker’s order came after 30 minutes and so on so forth. Basically, we took turns watching each other eat lol. I could’ve gone next door to get a hair cut and then gone across the street to get a teeth cleaning. and our order still wouldn’t have arrived. It was a pretty busy time, all the tables were filled. but why is there only ONE server? I felt so bad for her. She had to take orders, make drinks, clean tables, bring orders, etc. Finally, another server came and I thought we would get faster service, but unfortunately I was wrong. I could tell other customers were getting angry and a few stood up to complain. One man eating by himself got so mad he told the server«If my food doesn’t come out in 3 minutes, I’m leaving.» And guess what? Soon after, the server brought his food out. The funny thing is, he got here way AFTER we were here. I had a couple coworkers still waiting over an HOUR for their food and this man who got here after us gets his food first just because he starts bitching? Lol are we not customers too? I guess because we were being nice and patient about it they thought they could take advantage and make us wait even more. Street Party’s food can’t possibly be this hard to make. wthell is the cook doing in the back. playing mahjong? The food was just okay, nothing spectacular. Nothing can be worth this wait and chaos. Even paying for our food took a long time. The poor server had her order papers all over the place. what a mess. Management, please hire more servers and kitchen staff. Lol our lunch was a ridiculous waiting game. Only come here if you have no life and have nothing to do but wait. You have been warned.

In a cold day, my friend and I shared a hot pot. We picked what we wanted to eat from the bar. Some of the food weren’t there, so we asked for them since we saw the items are on the menu. They are either in the kitchen or sold out. Honestly, it’s hard to understand their menu if you don’t read Chinese. The hot pot was okay. It’s not amazing but it’s yummy. We also ordered a takoyaki. It’s well prepared. It came out very hot with a crispy outside. For the drink, since we ordered less ice, we felt it’s slightly too bitter. Anyway, 3.5 stars in general plus .5 star for the 15% off

A little confused on what to do because it was my first time here and I don’t speak/read Chinese. But, The food was delicious! How it works: Off to the side you handpick out veggies, noodles, tofu, fish cake, some meat on skewers. Each item is a 1.00−2.50 per your order. Then at the cash register they’ll ask if you want beef, lamb, etc and spice level. Then they cook for you and serve it in a hot bowl. Overall, I enjoyed the sweet, spicy dry hot pot. It’s called dry in that it doesn’t have soup you drink. Takoyaki yum! Taiwanese sausage was normal, sweet and Savory. Their teas are really good, Id recommend almond milk tea ½ sweet. Great lunch spot, share a bowl ~$ 25 for two people.

We got the dry pot, ma la tang(soup), crispy juicy chicken and popping fish ball. The best thing here is definitely the dry pot. It was very flavorful and very addictive. For the dry pot and the more soupy ma la tang, you use a pair of tongs to select the items you want, then you bring up the bowl of ingredients to the front. The people working at the front will ask you if you want some sort of meat(we selected beef tripe for the dry pot) and/or noodle(we got the instant noodle for the dry pot). For the dry pot and the ma la tang, they are cooked Szechuan style with the spiciness level determined by you. There are flavors of chili and a bit of the numbing effect from the Szechuan pepper corns. The dry pot was our favorite, full of complex flavor. The ma la tang was also good but not nearly as tasty as the dry pot. It reminded me of a «water boiled» dish in terms of flavor. The appetizers we tried were fine, but we would likely skip them next time. The crispy juicy chicken is essentially breast meat chicken, deep fried with a panko crust. The inside is filled with cheese. It sounds fantastic but alas the cheese did not add as much to the dish. The cheese was too mild and didn’t add either that much flavor or fat to the dish. The popping fish balls were fish balls filled with fish eggs. They were tasty and not fishy at all, but they were not that memorable. If we’re in the neighborhood again, we would definitely consider stopping by again, especially for the dry pot.

This review is for the honey green tea with grass jelly. Good, but not Tier 1. I was able distinguish the green tea flavor as bitterness came through with every sip. I wish it had more grass jelly. As a result, I wasn’t able to tell if it was made in-house or store-bought. I am definitely returning to try some more grass jelly and the food. Looks like you hand select which Taiwanese street food you want cooked, then wait for the kitchen to cook it. Interesting concept. Stay tuned for an updated review.

Decided to come on a lazy Sunday before going hiking at Eaton Canyon. Staff was really nice and the restaurant was very cute. I have never had dry pot before. I loved being able to pick out what I wanted in our pot. It was flavorful and really hit the spot. Server reminded us to stir the pot as there is a fire underneath so it doesn’t burn. Drinks are on the sweet side but is adjustable if preferred. Would definitely revisit when near the area again.

I like that the majority of 5 star reviews are suspiciously non grammatical and have very little to no Unilocal activity. TBH I really enjoyed the dry pot my brother and I ordered. We ordered medium spicy. 6 fishball/tofu items($ 1.5 ea), 4 vege items($.75 ea), 3 meats($ 2.5 ea). It was $ 4 for the soup base and we split a bowl of rice($ 1). Fish balls, beef balls, oil tofu, tempura, hollow fish balls, pink/white naruto enoki, oyster mushrooms, bok chou, napa cabbage Beef tripe, pork belly, lamb Total comes out to something like $ 25 including tax for a light lunch for 2 people. Shared 1 rice and ordered water. Service was friendly, but the menu was much more understandable in chinese(verbally and written) than in english. Id bring a mandarin speaking friend. And definitely order spicy(medium at least). That was the highlight of the flavoring. Id definitely come back but wouldnt advise people to come here unless i came with them to guide them through the particularities.

Street party specialize in Taiwanese street snacks such as takoyaki, popcorn chicken, sausages, chicken wings, and fried tofu. Sadly they don’t serve stinky tofu. One of my favorites is the crispy juicy chicken. It’s essentially a cheese stuffed chicken cutlet! A must have! The price and serving size are all decent. I would skip out on the tea. It was pretty watered down. My only concern was their menu. It took awhile to understand what the first few categories were. So, aside from snacks, they also serve something called Ma La Tang. It’s a form of hot pot. The menu doesn’t explain the order process. Unless you read Chinese, you’ll find that written on the black board. Yeah. assistance please! Here’s the run down on the Hot Pot: 1. Pick your own ingredients at the station: — tofu/mushroom/veggies($ 0.75 each) — tempura/meatball/shrimp($ 1.50 each) 2. How it’s prepped: — Ma La Tang(numb spicy with soup) — Dry pot(stir fried without soup) — there’s another version(I couldn’t understand) 3. Pick your protein to mix with hot pot: — chicken — beef — beef tripe — pork — Fish — lamb 4. Add your choice of noodle(optional) My overall experience was okay and my food came out pretty good for the cold weather.

The Service: Found this new restaurant on . Got the $ 25 off voucher. UNFORTUNATELY, the restaurant has no idea why they are on website? They are still not able to get hold of to clarify. Therefore, they don’t accept the voucher. During their grand opening, they do give 15% off discount. Staffs only came to our table when we ordered and served the food. Other than that, never check on us if we needed anything else or getting our feedback about the food since they just opened a few weeks ago. Customer service was just so-so. Definitely didn’t go above and beyond. The Food: We tried everything on the snack menu except fries and sweet potato fries($ 4.5 each). All made to order because they are steamy hot when they served the food. Love it~ Takoyaki — very Japanese cuisine Fried Tofu — very generous portion. Bite size. Crisp outside and soft tofu inside. Curry Fish Ball — just okay Fried Squid Ball — just okay Crisp Juicy Chicken — a little bit twist on this dish, they put cheese inside. When they deep fried, the melted cheese definitely add on more flavor Popcorn Chicken — very generous portion. Bite size Popping Fish Ball — my favorite among all the fish ball dishes! Chicken Wing — perfectly prepared, wish they are just a little bit spicy. Crispy outside and tender inside. LIKE! Taiwanese Sausage — very traditional Taiwanese snack dish. Really good! The Parking: Plaza parking lot(free)

WARNING! IFYOUARECOMINGHEREWITH A RESTAURANT.COMCOUPON($ 15 for $ 30) THEYWILLNOTACCEPTIT.(THEYWILLTELLYOUTHEYDIDN’T KNOWABOUTTHECOUPON) Now that I have your attention, let me tell you what went down. Since we thought we had to spend $ 30 on food, we ordered a lot of food for 2 people. First, the menu was very confusing and not very descriptive(No pictures). They had something called a dry pot(w/o soup) and a hot pot(w/soup). They also had a little bar where you can«build you own» dry/hot pot. We went with the hot pot($ 3.99+ each additional item you add to your hot pot), Takoyaki($ 4.50), Sweet Potato Fries($ 4.50), Popcorn Chicken($ 4.50) Taro Milk Tea($ 3.75), and Hokkido Milk Tea($ 3.75). Total came out to a little over $ 30. In conclusion, the atmosphere inside seems clean and cute. Presentation of the food was on point if you want to take pictures. But all the food lacked flavor. The drinks were not bad and the service was good. We ended up paying full price + 15% off(soft opening special). So, $ 35 including tips was not worth it for flavor lacking food. The end, have a nice day(:

Definitely go for their dry pot instead of the soup. They do charge $ 4 extra for dry pot; however, it tastes much better. The concept is a little different than other dry pot places. At this place, you get to choose what will be in your pot — meat($ 2.50/portion), meatballs,($ 1.50/portion), vegetables($ 0.75/portion), noodles, etc.
