So we went golfing for the day and headed to Clearmans for lunch. I personally am a big fan of Clearmans. I am more familiar with the Northwoods Inn but let’s face it… Clearmans is Clearmans. They have the yummy salads, the yummy appetizers and a delicious dinner. So we all got together and I ordered the New York Steak with Mashed potatoes. So we started off with Calarmi… Then they brought out our salads, regular house salad and cabbage salad, along with the delicious cheese bread! I love cheese bread… Not good for me in many ways lol, but seriously so good! Then we waited and waited and finally our dinner came. Everyone got their food and I don’t know what they were doing with some fire on the cart type thing but my steak was on it and I was totally stoked! My New York steak was medium rare, just the way I like it! The odd thing is that usually it’s a little more juicy and bloody, which is the way I like it, but oh well. Mashed potatoes were good, nothing amazing, but good. Then time for desert. Now… I am doing my best to stray from sugar, but I was challenged to eat desert and I took on the challenge(even though I wish I didn’t cause I was literally about to pass out after I got Half way through the desert). For desert I told our waitress Jenna, which was really sweet, to surprise me with either raspberry cheesecake, strawberry cheesecake, or bananas foster. Well, she brought me strawberry cheesecake. I honestly wasn’t the craziest about it, but I’m really happy that she didn’t bring me the bananas foster. The other guys orders it and I had one and it wasn’t that good. I DID try the chocolate cake though and man it is seriously delicious! It is soooo good! My cheesecake was really heavy, which I didn’t like. It was too much to handle. If your reading this and Have been to Clearmans, you would know that it’s a great restaurant, pricey(honestly a little too overpriced, but I guess service makes up for it). If you haven’t been to Clearmans, it’s totally worth trying it at least once. It’s a nice, upscale but doesn’t completely feel like an upscale, restaurant, with awesome service, really good food(especially their salad and cheese bread, I swear I could probably go just for those…), and a good experience. It has a dim candle light style setting which is nice and intimate. It’s a very cool spot. If you’re allergic to nuts, stay away from Pasadena Northwoods inn. I haven’t been there for years but I remember when you walk in they have peanut/peanut shells all over the floor. Now go and enjoy!

Sorry, but I see that 10/30/2012 review and have to wonder … this location had 3-restaurants. Clearman’s Northwoods Inn, The Galley(known by we locals as «The Boat») and there also was a Clearman’s Golden Cock. The Golden Cock closed maybe a dozen years ago … Northwoods Inn is still open, but the review really refers to the set up of the Golden Cock. The Galley was torn down for construction of a Kohls dept store that is there now, and it was rebuild on the south side of the property. The nearest Steak n Stein I know of is down by Pico Rivera/Whittier area.

It’s a classic and the food and service are superb. This is what other steak houses wish they were. Atmosphere is delightfully from another decade, swank, wood and red velvet. Enjoy the lounge and fireplace when it’s chilly out.
