I really hate writing bad reviews but I must do this! So my family & i were in the area & craved some good hot pot, especially with the weather being chilly & all. We found this place last minute bc it was late at night. I called them & made a reservation, & the guy on the phone told me that i’d get a table right away. When we came there, it was crowded, but there were two large empty tables. I assumed it was ours, but when I asked the waitress, she didnt seem to understand English & just wrote our names on the waiting list. Luckily a guy that spoke English told her we had a reservation so we got priority seating. BUT even then, we ended up waiting like half an hour just to be seated. On top of that, the waiter we got took another good half an hour to get our menus. The menu is suppppperr confusing. We had to ask 3 different people what it all meant – one of the waiters even said he had no idea what the menu meant! When we were ready to order, a lot of waiters & waitresses saw us but flat out ignored us. I’m pretty patient when it comes to ordering food especially if i’m with family but it got really annoying, to the point where we were considering just finding another place to eat. Eventually they came & took our orders, but the wait for the plates to come was even longer. I understand that it was a full house, but I only saw one guy doing all the work & carrying all the plates back & forth while the rest of the workers just seemed to walk around mindlessly, ignoring customers & their waving arms. They didn’t even get us all the plates we requested. We tried to tell them several times, but the waiters didnt seem to understand what we were saying. I was really tempted to just google translate. We ended up just giving up about the missing plates. The food was alright, but that was probably cause i was starving by the time. I only liked one waiter, the one who was busting himself to get everyone’s orders. Bless him. This place is definitely cheap for hot pot, but I wouldn’t come back here again. I’d rather spend a little more for better service & better food. Sorry

Not the best hotpot and good bang for the bucks all you can eat hotpot. As others have stated, the place just remodel and the service is quite good as a Asian restaurant.

This is my favorite ACYE Hotpot place in all of SGV so far, and since SGV is the king for Hotpot that says a lot. The place doesn’t look spectacular, and there is usually only 1 server, but if you’re like me you and only want that the food to taste good, then everything else can fade into oblivion. Got the 19.99 all you can eat and included things like: beef, lamb, shrimp, mushroom, Napa cabbage, lotus root, taro, tofu. Really from what we ordered it wasn’t even half the list of what they offered. They have higher priced ACYE for 24.99 that has better cuts of beef, but since I usually get the lamb that is in the 19.99 it doesn’t matter for me. For the broth we got the Ying yang pot, half clear broth and half spicy. For the sauce it’s self serve, they have all the condiments you would expect from a legit and modern day Chinese hot pot place(not like little sheep where they just give you the basics of sesame paste, soy sauce, vinegar, salty tofu sauce and salty green sauce), but here they have self yourself satay sauce as well, which is very important to the kind of hot pot dipping sauce I like to make(with spicy broth), a kind that tastes tangy, keeps my appetite stay big, and cuts the grease at the same time: half satay, half or more black vinegar, garlic, cilantro, green onion). Plus at the end they gave us a coupon for next time, $ 10 off a check of 20. They only thing I would note is to beware of how much you eat: since your personal plate in front of you is likely to always be empty since you are eating as you cook and you are only using the plate to catch the broth dripping off the food for convenience sake, it could be deceiving as to how much you actually ate, and you might not notice till after you leave.

Delicious Schezuan Spicy Broth :) $ 19.99AYCE House beef, lamb, & veggies is all you need! Spend hours upon hours here, I think the staff is getting pissed at the amount of meat we ate.

I really think this place deserves a 4.5 but I will round up. Don’t expect to go to a very nice restaurant. This place is pretty much a hole in the wall. There are many reasons why I think this place should be so highly rated. 1) I think the service is great. The servers are constantly checking on you, whether it be to order or food or to fill your water. 2) For the price you pay, the food you get is good. If you are paying $ 19.99 for AYCE don’t expect to get wagyu beef or anything. There are also some Chinese /Taiwanese style side dishes that are self serve along with a sauce bar. I don’t think the quality of the food is that bad either. The best thing is probably the soup. I hate when the soup at hot pot places are bland. The soup here is very flavorful and there are few for you to choose from. 3) There are different price options for your budget — there is even an AYCE/AYCD Beer option. I’ve been here twice and will probably continue coming back if I have big appetite for hot pot.

Pretty good hotpot place with options and sauces that are about as fresh as you will find on valley blvd. Owner did not want to accept the Unilocal deal but finally did after making some calls.

Worst dinner ever had! They posted Kobe Beef in the front but in fact, the manager does not even know what Kobe Beef is! If you are looking for quality, this is sure not the right place!

came here in the middle of the day with my girlfriend! this place was surprisingly really freaking yummy !!! the soup has lots of flavor and their white rice is SOOOGOOD !!! the rice is definitely the best thinggg at this hot pot place. i know its weird that im raving about rice, but im asian, and i love my rice ! the place was super dead when we went which is why we felt kinda iffy about it, but then again we did eat at 4pm. the only thing that sucks is their sacha sauce. i dont really think its legit sacha :(its super gravy like and a bit too salty. but their hot oil is delicious! they needd to get some legit spoons lol they only have the plastic ones, and its not fun to drink soup with a plastic spoon –_– this place surprised me which is why i will be coming back again :)

Decent place good service the server was a latino guy specks a little Chinese. I love the hotpot soup broth and it is all you can eat! I came here while ago it wasn’t that good now they did remodel and food plate presentation was good but I’m still having a problem with table and chair which is still not very clean. It was sticky when i seat down and I had to wipe it again.

I’ve been going to other Hot Pot places, this one is pretty decent. I love that the meat is not that fat and the service is pretty decent. The price is almost the same as the other ALL you can eat hot pot places. I don’t mind coming again.

This place is relatively cheap for what you get, but it’s not very tasty. It’s probably best for lunch. Don’t touch the cold bar. It’s really cold and stale. The tastiest things you can throw in are cheap. I have a hard time justifying the dinner price. They have an assortment of meats including lamb, and veggies including tan o. The broth isn’t that tasty. It’s just okay.

Good hotpot. Soup is good. You can do combination broth. We did one side spicy and the other plain. The meat selection is okay. It is an all you can eat, so we where able to try almost everything. Service was great! We came on a Tuesday night, still alot of people, but not packed. Our waiter was great, he was the latino guy. Very cordial, attentive and fast.

**** Great Lunch Hot Pot **** Saw a great deal from Unilocal is hard to pass by, despite having mediocre experience in the past. PRICE: Lunch Special $ 9.99(Which is what I order for 2 peoples)
AYCE$ 18.99 [ENVIRONMENT] 3.75÷5 * Interior is decent could have been cleaner, it got 2 hdtv showing ESPN but the channel isn’t HD. Air Flow is average but might not enough when is full house at night. [FOOD] 4.25÷5 * First of all you has to ask for the lunch menu, they would try to sell you the AYCE even at lunch. Which is overkill. Get the lunch combo you can get refill the noodles, which is better than eating rice. They gave you augus rib eye which is definite at par with most other hot pot, the fist and shrimp was pretty good, however the vegetable was not good, especially the iceberg is cut into small piece. Unlike before no more keep asking for dipping sauce, or napkins. You could get all those from the counter at east, and I like there’s so many sauce to choose from. [SERVICE] 3⁄5 *Perhaps the biggest weakness but isn’t too bad, the waiter English isn’t great, if you don’t speak Mandarin, I won’t suggest you to dine here. [VALUE] 4.5÷5 *$ 10 for the lunch combo is good deal it will fill you up with the multiple order of the noodles, price is on par with most hot pot or shabu shabu, with better service. I was able to use the Unilocal deal so value score goes up a bit. TIPS * Currently offer $ 10 for $ 20 Unilocal deal for limited period of time. * Parking is not an issue, there is also underground parking. * Free Lamb Skewer maybe is a limited time. MY2CENTS If you grave for Hot Pot this would a look, but I would rather spend in KBBQ because many items from the hot pot you could just get it from the Asian Supermarket and isn’t that hard to prepare and the clean up. Lunch Hot Pot $ 10 is worth to try but you must ask them.

Love coming here because it’s AYCEHOTPOT for $ 18.99/person! That alone sold me. Some things to note: 1. The mini lobster is actually crawfish. 2. Even though you order by marking a paper order, remember what you ordered because they won’t always bring out what you ordered because a/they either forgot or b/they ran out of the item and did not tell you. 3. I like having the half mild and half spicy hot pot so you get the best of both worlds. 4. They mostly respond if you talk to them in Mandarin Chinese. 5. They don’t restock their dipping sauces when it gets 2 hrs to closing time. 6. May be hard to flag them down for service. 7. Pitcher of beer is only $ 6. 8. More parking available downstairs!

Came here today for my friend’s birthday and was shocked to see that they’ve remodeled. What used to be disgusting and chopped up carpet with cracking and peeling walls has now been replaced with a black floor and a more chic design. At $ 16.50 per person, I see that they’ve upped the price per head for All You Can Eat. They offer beef, lamb, and fish, but I believe I didn’t see pork or chicken on the menu. I guess they leave out the meats that need to be cooked all the way through. There’s an assortment of cuttlefish, crawfish, and shrimp you can order on top of the aforementioned proteins. You can get the Chinese bbq sauce aka Sa Tsa Jiang for 50c a bowl along with their sesame sauce/paste also at 50c per bowl. There is a decent selection and variety of vegetables. You can choose to have the yin yang style pot which gives you both spicy and normal broth, commit to all spicy, or all normal base. The tables seem to have the option of giving you your individual pot as there are individual warmers in front of each seat, but I did not see that as an option — perhaps a telling of things to come? The service is not bad. They don’t talk much, but they pay attention to your water cup level, the amount of broth in your pot, and whether or not you need a clean plate. We didn’t wait more than 5 minutes for all of our food to come out, so they’re pretty quick about that too. None of the meats were too fatty, which is a definite upgrade from Amrose of old, who used to only give pieces of fat. The remodeling of Amrose did not stop at the layout and design of the restaurant, but also gave their quality of service and food a facelift. Still only a 3-star review, however, as their menu was still lacking some staple hot pot items that you can get at other places. $ 16.50/person seems high as well, but I guess you’d be paying more per head at a non-AYCE. Since Amrose is in the Sunny Plaza, the plaza just west of San Gabriel Blvd on Valley Blvd, there is ample parking, either on the surface or in the structure below. Overall, Amrose has improved. Not sure when I’d be back though.

1.5 stars. I LOVEHOTPOT and this place was pretty disgusting. The worst part is that it wasn’t even that cheap. I mean, I don’t eat THAT much and I’m pretty sure if we had gone to a normal hotpot place with better quality food, it would’ve only cost a few dollars extra. Plus, I wouldn’t have been worried about the amount of sauce I was using. THEMEAT: There are really only 2 types of meat; beef and lamb. The beef tasted like freezer burn and looked like it had been butchered again after it was butchered. The lamb was at least edible. I’ve never seen meat this bad at any other hot pot place. The SEAFOOD: Everyone knows how I feel about krab with a K so I don’t need to elaborate. But the crawfish was gross, the shrimp balls looked tasteless. The shrimp seemed ok, though. THEVEGETABLE: We ordered napa cabbage, winter melon, and potatoes. These were probably some of the better items of the meal, although the napa cabbage looked terrible. THENOODLES: The absolute best tasting item we got were wide glass noodles. They had the right chewy consistency and they soaked up the sauces well. THESAUCES: I think it’s wrong to charge for sauces. After all, when I go to AYCEKBBQ, no one charges me for sauce. Anyway, I decided to go with the sesame paste-based sauce. They mixed in other condiments as well, but the sesame paste-based sauce that I blend at home is way better. The service was actually pretty decent. There were a ton of servers roaming around so you could always get someone’s attention. They also constantly filled out pots with more water so we had enough soup base. The portions were humongous and we could barely finish any single item.

Straight up GHETTO!!! You walk into here and the servers give you the feel of sketchy taxi drivers waiting for their next victim at the airport. They immediately start asking you what soup you want without even seating you like their hurriedly trying to hook you up with cheap ho. We sat down and tried looking over the menu, which has prices for individual dishes. Nowhere along the way did anyone explain the place was all you can eat. My fault for not consulting Unilocal first. The tables were dirty and when they brought the food they just sat the tray down on a chair next to the table. The bill obviously came out more than the dishes we ordered. The bill was rounded up and when we asked why the bill was so high, the waitress finally told us they were AYCE only. She was complete unapologetic. The worst part is as the waitress walked away you could here her calling us names in chinese cause we didn’t know it was AYCE only. The sauces are an extra $.50 each on top of the $ 16.50 price. They sit in rice bowls on the counter so the freshness is suspect but you don’t really need more than one of any for the table, especially if you’re eating the spicy pot. They didn’t have«Xiao Bing» pancake, which we ordered on the sheet but they never told us they were out off until we asked where they were. Initially, we had some male servers and it looked like their shift was over as we were asking for our bill. They just walked out yelling back at the counter that we wanted our bill. We had to ask the lady again to get the bill cause we waited 10 mins and no one came over. Overall, the food is mediocre but the service is just plain bad. Food:2 Service: 1 Ambiance:1

This place is a great deal for AYCE hotpot. Find me a place with a better deal, in LA. It’s good for those cold nights. Just, don’t pay attention to the dirtiness of the place. The boiling water will clean it all =) Saying that, please know that my rating is more towards a 3 star, it’s just that this is my default hotpot place, so I don’t feel right giving them a 3 D= Tips about this place: 1. Order one sauce and it’s enough for 2+ ppl to share =) Depending on how much you dip. They charge by the sauce D= 2. If you like tendons, order it in the first round and dump them all in. These will be ready by round 2 =) 3. The fish doesn’t really overcook too badly, like other places… don’t know why o. O 4. When the broth is «dirty», skim it with the spoon(not slotted please-_-) and pour it into a bowl to clean your pot =D 5. Order ice and pour tea into it, *I* feel it’s safer than plain water =) And…that’s all I can think of for now… update possibly pending =)
