Looking for a place to enjoy the day? Grassy picnic areas are available amidst West Fort Miley’s Battery Chester. So load up your picnic baskets, bring along your children(human and canine, both welcome), and explore Fort Miley along Land’s End. Tips: * Dress in layers, coastal winds kick up and bring with it unpredictable fog; * Have a camera handy to capture the panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean as it meets the San Francisco Bay, beneath the Golden Gate Bridge(far right). Note: per the National Park Service: * picnic tables at GGNRA(Golden Gate Regional Recreation Area) are first come first served and cannot be reserved; * this area is open for on leash or voice control dog walking; * more information available at .

A great semi-secluded picnic spot with a breathtaking view of Ocean Beach. Large parking lot below the picnic area(48th Avenue & Point Lobos Avenue). Walk up hill on the path to reach the picnic area. About an 8 minute walk depending on your pace. You can see the ol’ ruins of Fort Miley. This spot is located just west of the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Reserve the picnic tables by calling the National Park Service.
