Wayne’s Self Service Laundry

I love the woman who works here. She is so beyond lovely. I’ve had my clothes laundered here for years and have always had them come back clean and perfectly folded. And the tailoring she does is excellent. I live on the other side of the Mission now and still only go here for my tailoring needs.

If you want to have your clothes ruined and then be treated horribly — then go here. Worst customer service ever! I have had this lovely and delicate Rag + Bone sweater for 2 years — had it drycleaned countless times — and first time I went to Wayne’s it was ruined — a huge hole in the back. I called immediately — with work and many commitments, I didn’t have time to bring it back right away. I spoke to the woman who works there and when I said my sweater came back to me with a hole, she said she didn’t understand… interesting as she seemed to understand everything I said every other time we spoke. I said I would bring the sweater in to show here. When I was able it had been a little over 2 weeks — I stupidly thought the phone call would ensure that she understood they had damaged my clothes. She said it had been too long and how could she know that they had damaged it — essentially calling me a liar. I said it is a $ 200 sweater, can you at least refund me the cost of drycleaning? NO she said. I said this is ridiculous as I work in customer service — I was angry that I had PAID to have my beautiful sweater ruined. I said this is ridiculous (insert a swear word or 2). I said this is the worst service I have ever encountered — and was it so much to ask for the $ 10 back? She then said «I am calling the police» — no joke. So I said, «go for it,» and I will call the Better Business Bureau. She called the wrong number a few times — I patiently waited — she then got the police on the line, I asked her how long they would be and she replied «THEY NEVER SAY!» Clearly this is her customer service policy, call the police when she ruins something so she can keep her measly $ 10. The officer was very kind, but essentially said there was nothing I can do. This is my first Unilocal review and I urge you PLEASE DON’T GO HERE. Terrible customer service, rude, and they call the cops if you are unhappy. I work in customer service and I am appalled. Oh and one last thing — as she was calling the police she was unloading someone’s laundry and dropped their intimates on the floor and then loaded them into the dryer — some cleaning service!

They don’t do the dry cleaning themselves, but rather send it out to a 3^rd party. That might explain why the prices aren’t exactly that cheap. The owner was unable to tell me if they used the carcinogenic dry cleaning chemicals, or if they have upgraded to the green dry cleaning method. So we can pretty much safely assume they use the cheaper, older carcinogenic dry cleaning chemicals. Note: they do wash/​fold laundry for you by the pound.
Also, since this place is Cantonese owned, expect a warm Cantonese greeting (sarcasm). There is no concept of «good service» at Chinese owned places, so while I have had worse service, I really hate that she did not take any heat for returning my silk shirt to me with the stain still there 100%.

I live on the same block as Wayne’s and while I don’t have too many fancy duds that require dry cleaning I’ve used them on occasion. They are reasonably priced and have always done decent job

They’re a few short steps from my front door, their hours are plentiful, their service timely and reasonably priced, and their dry cleaning has gotten my stuff clean, in contrast with rebecca’s experience.
I’m happy with Wayne.

Sure smells like a funky chemically dry cleaned item. Hmm… looks suspiciously similar to the dirty item I brought in a few days earlier. Next to Tao Café and cheaper than California Lucky Cleaners (see my other review)…but just doesn’t do the job, at least on dry cleaning. In all fairness, haven’t tried their laundry service, so will withhold 50% of full opinion.
