Very good food(love the rice dishes) and cheap. Love this place but haven’t seen it again since last week. Did they move?

Sometimes good things come in small packages. Nowhere is this more evident than with the Vietnamese Sandwich & Spring Roll Stand. I stumbled upon this place while walking down Market Street today. Make no mistake, this ain’t no Food Truck. It is literally a small stand with a dilapidated awning and sign. At first glance, this sandwich spot doesn’t look like much. And at second glance, it still doesn’t look like very much. Normally, I would’ve walked right past and carried on with my day. But then I saw that they were selling Bánh mi sandwiches for only $ 3.75. Wait — what?! Are my eyes deceiving me here?! Sure enough, they were whipping up Vietnamese sandos in that mini-kitchen of theirs for under $ 4. Figuring I had nothing to lose, I wound up ordering the BBQ Pork sandwich. A few minutes later, they handed me a warm bánh mi served on a fresh roll with spicy peppers, pickled veggies, cilantro, and a generous helping of BBQ pork. Was it the world’s best sandwich? No. For just $ 3.75, it was a pretty damn decent. I’d certainly come back if I needed a quick meal on-the-go.

The best in Financial District! BBQ pork sandwich always gets the job done, and for cheap

I love this little stand! It’s only two blocks from my office so I come here whenever I want a quick, cheap, and tasty lunch. I’m not big on Vietnamese subs or spring rolls. Instead what I get is either the five spice pork or chicken over rice. It comes with a generous portion of both meat and rice, and has some steamed and pickled veggies on the side that I can’t get enough of. Both the pork and the chicken are SUPER tasty… I don’t have too much experience with this dish at other Vietnamese places, so it’s hard for me to compare, but let’s just say I am more than a little bit obsessed with their five spice rice plates :) I don’t have a preference for the chicken over the pork or vice versa. I would say get whichever meat you are in the mood for, because they’re equally yummy! And I haven’t even mentioned the best part yet… the price! It only costs $ 5.75 for a pretty generous portion of the five spice chicken/pork! You can’t beat the value of this stand especially considering that it’s an area where food prices tend to be a bit inflated. This place is cash only though, so make sure you have some cash in your wallet before heading out here. Oh, and I usually come here around noon and have had no problems getting what I want, though I’ve heard that some of the more popular items sell out relatively quickly, so I would recommend coming earlier rather than later!

Awesome food! Best Viet food downtown! P. S. Don’t forget the side menu. Beware they sell out of their specials quickly.

So much better than any other Bahn Mi in the area… and probably one of the best I’ve ever had. At $ 3.50, there is really no better option for a quick and delicious lunch.

They have a great combo meal deal; it’s a really good value for the money. I had the BBQ Pork sandwich. Saigon Sandwich still has the best, but this one is better than the Vietnamese counter a block or so away.

OMG I do not know why I’ve hesitated to try this place… maybe it was something about working in the Financial District and the culinary wasteland it is? Inevitably, all the really good places are too expensive for a daily lunch, and everything else is a chain: big, little, somewhere in between but still a chain. This place is definitely not any of those things! The offerings are delicious, fresh and inexpensive… totally a doable lunch on a working girl’s salary! The people behind the counter are friendly, helpful and most of all, really really nice. I’ve made this my #1 lunch choice, so should you!

This place was good. Fresh ingredients, affordable, and a nice lady behind the register. I got the BBQ and will definitely going back.
