My son and I got the mushrooom burger &BBQ burger and split them. Both were incredible! I found it off putting that you can’t just get a plain burger, they all have some theme. But the combos were perfect! They really know what they are doing! The fries have bits of seaweed on them, which I loved, but some people who do not like that oceany flavor may not? Lots of sides too which I’d like to come back & try. The mango lemonade was really nice too, not bitter, tasted more like mango juice than anything. But it was really nice. I can’t believe how different the inside is too, it’s the old«All You Knead» location that I basically lived in during my teen years. It was always dark & dreary inside, but they opened up the ceiling, painted everything white and made it very welcoming and comfortable. Other reviews are saying it’s spendy but this is what food in SF costs, I thought it was quite reasonable, about $ 8 – 9 per burger. $ 4.90 I believe to make it a meal with either fries or broccoli, and an ice tea. The menu was quite limited, but it’s fine with me if everything is consistently good! I’ll definitely be back!

This place is good, but not great. Compared to other vegetarian burgers I’ve Had, this restaurant is pretty basic. They prepare the bread well, nice crunchy char but the bread itself is not of the best quality. I orders the bbq burger, anticipating something juicy and full of flavor. I expected more from this specific patty because it was the only mushroom patty compared to the soy party in all the other burgers. It was just a bit more textured than the soy patty, but both lacked in flavor. And the pricing isn’t ideal.

I ordered the teriyaki pineapple burger, and added some ‘bacon’ to it, with a side of seaweed fries. The mango lemonade was more subtle than sweet, but still refreshing. This was so freaking tasty, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s pricey, but I think worth it, especially considering that this is San Francisco. Nice big sitting area if you’re not taking the food to go. Can’t wait to get more!

You walk in. The order counter is against the left wall. They have six different burgers to choose from with some add options, «sidekick» options, kiddie meals, beverages and desserts. All plant-based with no GMOs, antibiotics, or cholesterol. Pay. You get a VeganBurg disc that I thought would vibrate but actually just lights up when your order is ready. When it lights up, you take it to the back where the pick up counter is. To the left of that counter is drinks, utensils, condiments: Tapatio, black cracked pepper, and organic ketchup. When I picked up my food, it came in a metal container with a handle. I don’t know what’s up with that. I had the Avocado Beetroot Burger with bacon and cheese with Seaweed Fries. I ate all of it. It was really good. The cheese didn’t have that slightly weird Vegan cheese taste to it and that was pretty cool. The bun was high fiber. Fresh produce. I wished there were more VeganBurgs around. The only other one is in Singapore and I already know I would have the Avocado Beetroot Burger repeatedly but I also want to try the other burgers as well. The fries were really good. I didn’t know what to expect of Seaweed Fries but they were crisp fries seasoned with seaweed sprinkled on top. I’ll have to try it with a dipping sauce another time. They advertise qualities of their items like so and so is loaded with Vitamin C and Potassium, etc. On a marketing standpoint, it makes you feel great like you’re getting that good-good. Anyhow, I ate everything and I didn’t feel lethargic or shitty, I was on my way and looked forward to returning so I think that calls for 5 stars.

People who work in Veganburg wanted to reduce climate change. I, as well as many customers who come here, wanted to reduce climate change. That is what makes Veganburg my most favorite burger joint in Haight Ashbury. Going for plant-based protein selections is a good start; but, I had to spend a chunk o’ money to buy an expensive burger. Therefore, I must save a buck for other important things in life(Sorry PETA, but I’m always with you no matter what). Upon entering Veganburg, everything inside looks so cool: friendly service, helpful signs, beautifully clear written menu, a fair amount of lighting, and some cozy décor with wooden columns, tables, and its grass top benches. Wonderful setting indeed; just imagining myself sitting in the Yosemite national park. Of course, there’s three wooden bins: compost, recycle, and landfill. Even though this burger joint had a small space, I definitely love coming here! McDonald’s, to me is still just as good. Last month, I was hoping to buy a CosmoPaleo with a side of broccoli followed by a vegan milkshake. But a cashier said they won’t be out until January 11th. Thirty days later, the cashier said they still haven’t had them yet. I kept asking the same question every next Monday and guess what: no CosmoPaleo and even a milkshake in sight. Bummer, but it’s cool! I can buy any burger with a lettuce acting as buns. Today, I bought a Cracked Mayo burger with lettuce as buns and a free small cup of water. I spend just a good amount of money to try that burger. The lettuce buns weren’t so bad; its soy Patty taste so delicious, it’s as good as a breaded chicken patty! That’s a warm welcome to my taste buds! Once bitten, twice wise! Hopefully, Veganburg will have its vegan milkshakes soon. I be more than glad to recommend Veganburg to anyone who loves plant-based proteins.

Woah there, that was one damn good burger. Had the beet burger with cheese, and it was mouth watering delicious, up there with Gotts burger. The partner in crime had the Mustang burger(relish and pickles) w/out cheese and it was good but not great, a bit bland. The seaweed fries are also yummy, dipped in a tabasco + ketchup mix. As some other reviewers mentioned, it’s not cheap but it’s simialr in price to most other options in the neighborhood, and no different than other burger joints in-town. Yes, they are a chain, and for good reason! Who else is doing all vegan anymore? Plenty of space, interesting lay-out with traditional booths, a few study-like chairs and tables, along with communal seating. Will be back ASAP.

My second visit to VeganBurg was a lot more pleasant. The service was friendly, and the food was served piping hot this time around. I really liked the Cracked Mayo one, although they are SERIOUS about the mayo. They don’t mess around. It was almost TOO much. I would want to order it with a little less, or the mayo on the side. The avocado on the burger was fresh and green, and added a nice creaminess, although the heaping lump of mayo was dang near creamy enough. The lettuce was immaculate, incredibly fresh and leafy and delicious. The fries were a million times better than last time, definitely reminiscent of the fast food greats, only not fried in animal fats. The lemonade drinks they serve are still not that great, so skip out on these and stick to water or one of the beverages in their cooler by the register. I was a little sad that the cashier did not ask me if I wanted to join their frequent buyer program, but she literally asked every other customer behind me. Oh well, maybe next time I will have to ask for myself. I’m a strong, independent woman, but sometimes I want that free soft serve that comes with a loyalty club. Helpful hint: the burgers seem to only taste good when they are hot, so make sure you eat yours with urgency and don’t dilly-dally. If you want to talk with your friends, do so AFTER you’ve finished your sandwich.

Am very excited to see a vegan restaurant in the haight. Here first day. Soft opening. Limited menu of just the 2 burgers previously mentioned in other reviews. Food was tasty but burger was very thin and over all small for the price. The fries were good but again very small amount of fries in the meal deal. Will see how the place develops after the beginning of the year when they get their full menu. Advice for the owners: If you are going to open a vegan restaurant in SF please step up your game and ensure that everything is organic. And secondly, take the picture of the super model in her underwear out of the window! Offensive to many! Update to previous review. Went back today to give veganburg a second chance. They have gotten better. More fries, yeah! Burgers seem bigger. And I had the avocado beetroot today. Very tasty. Still working on the place a little and still working out the menu. Hope to see the continued development of the place.

I think the concept of this place is interesting but unfortunately, it’s only half the battle. Execution is what really makes or breaks a place’s success. I am always interested in vegan-only restaurant given the limited options in this country(for the record, I eat meat, but it’s nice to have some vegetarianism in my life), so when I heard about this place, I was curious. Now, I have been to some very good vegan restaurants and cafes in my day so maybe my standards are higher than normal, but I was very underwhelmed by this place. First of all, the fries were not fresh, which is an automatic no-no in my book. Any restaurant that specializes in burgers in California where the good olé In-n-Out was founded needs to have their fries fresh no matter what spices they use on them. The next thing was the burger itself. I got the cracked mayo burger. I know a vegan burger isn’t going to be as WOW as a non-veg burger, but still… The taste was less than amazing and it almost felt like a chore near the end to finish the entire thing. I was really glad that this burger was at least healthy so I didn’t have to stress about the calories that I didn’t enjoy too much but that was the only good thing. Personally, I think one thing that could have improved the burger was more ingredients… Actually, in general, I would recommend that addition for all of their burgers. Most of them had barely more than 5 ingredients and I am sorry, but if you are opening a vegan eatery, you need to have a wide variety of flavors to make up for the lack of flavor from no meat. Trust me, there are plenty of good vegan ingredients out there that can enhance taste… I see a potential for this place with the concept, but I am unlikely to be back unless the menu gets some serious revamping OR I am in the area and need a healthy, guilt-free meal.

They were still getting things up and running so had a limited menu. The burgers were great. Liked the chicken stripes but were very skimpy, the bottom of the cup had lettuce to make it look like more. . Tried the lemon aid but it was too watered down, but they were still figuring things out. The owners children were very nice helping out with clearing tables and serving food. I will go back and try more of their items!

Since they’ve had a few weeks to get into the swing of things, I’m updating my rating … and unfortunately, it comes down a star. I really like the idea of Veganburg, and I like having above-average veggie burgers available. I want it to be a great place. However, VB is possibly the most expensive burger in the Haight/CV area; burgers + fries for two will set you back $ 35. Given that pricing, I have somewhat higher expectations of quality and consistency which aren’t being met. For example, twice I’ve added avocado to a sandwich, and gotten a smear which was maybe 1⁄8 of an avocado. That’s a $ 1.50 upgrade to the burger, making that a $ 12 avocado. And the standard tofu patty(the one used in 3 of the 6 burgers they currently have) is rather dry and flavorless(stick to the BBQ and mushroom burgers). I’ll probably try them again in a few months, but for now, I’m going to stick to BurgerMeister. If you really are a strict vegan, you’ll probably love this place, but it’s not doing enough for me.

This place should get a few stars right off the bat for being a vegan restaurant, there are so few around. But the food is also very good. I’ve eaten there 3 times and have bought take-out burgers to save for later. While some have groused about the fact that there are some standard soy patties, I’ve had the Smoky BBQ Burger which includes a mushroom patty. Many people don’t like mushrooms although I love them but there was no mushroomy taste to it. I loved the seaweed fries, the steamed broccoli and my family liked the beet burger. January 16, 2016 is their real opening day but they began serving in December with a «soft opening» featuring only 2 burger varieties which has expanded to 4. they’ll have all 6 by opening. To further ingratiate themselves to me, they will have soft-serve vegan«ice cream» later on. The surrounds are a little cold — it feels too big with stark white walls and a space with high ceilings, Maybe with hundreds of chomping diners there will be less of a way-station feel.

Living in the Lower Haight, I was definitely excited and intrigued to hear about a new all vegan burger joint opening up on Haight. With vegan options disappearing from the area a lot lately, it’s a much needed addition. My girlfriend and I stopped in during their soft opening period, which meant a limited menu. No big deal, as we’ve never had anything from them before. She got the Smokey BBQ and I the Mustard Relish. We both opted for Seaweed fries, shared some broccoli, but unfortunately were not able to try their chicken tender side because it was sold out. While we took all of this to-go, the food still tasted pretty fresh and crisp after the walk back down to our hood. My patty was a crispy variety and the mustard/relish combo was tasty. The fries were more or less fries, but adding seaweed does add a nice variety of flavor. I’m interested to come back and try some other burgers once the menu is more fleshed out. While they’re not doing anything super ground-breaking, that could help them to have more long-term success in that area. Offering up a vegan version of fast food that’s not intimidating or trying too much to re-invent the wheel will hopefully encourage non-plant based eaters to give them a go.

As a vegetarian resident of Upper Haight, I’d been eagerly awaiting this ever since noticing the storefront last month. I came with some friends for the soft opening in mid-December. They only had a partial menu(two burger options out of 6 or so), so I chose the BBQ burger. Turns out the opening was very soft… our burgers took over 20min to come out, which is hardly the ‘fast casual’ service you might expect. And sadly the food was not worth the wait. The burger patty tasted like a veggie burger off a chain restaurant menu from 1997… basically a Boca Burger. And since I’d paid extra for avocado and one other topping, this disappointing burger(with no side) had cost about $ 13(including tip). My friend had ordered the fries($ 4), which were equally disappointing. I’d love to love this place, but unless they completely change their burger patty(which is highly unlikely for a chain restaurant), I don’t see that happening :(

This would’ve been a happy day– the soft Grand Opening of Veganburg in the Haight– if I wanted: * to pay $ 17 for a burger, small fries and small drink. * to sit on faux grass benches that feel like I’m being puppy potty trained. * fast food that perpetuates the myths that going vegan and doing my part to save the planet through this one empowering act is cost-prohibitive…oh so exclusive… Oh, yeah, and NOTEMPOWERING! * more objectifying ads with emaciated models in their panties. «Just lost my vegan(burger) virginity» and loving it! I stopped by here for lunch today with my co-worker. Food: I ordered a bbq burger without the cheese plus avocado topping. Good plentiful portion, bbq sauce was delicious and I liked how crisp the lettuce was. I also got the seaweed fries which were fried to perfection and the seaweed seasoning is a nice touch. I tried my coworker’s broccoli and it was cooked nicely. Wasn’t soggy at all. My coworker ordered the mustard burger and said her fake bacon was the best fake bacon she has ever tasted in her life(: Ambiance: Since it was their 4th? Day of their soft opening, they were still putting up décor and fixing things. I like the way the tables are spread out and there are also some lower two people seating areas. I liked how clean everything was too. Service: the person taking our order was friendly and helpful. We got our food very fast and another employee asked us how we liked our burger. Overall, would come again for lunch. Glad I got my vegan virginity taken away today: P

«Industrial Safari Chic», beezys. Zelda told me that’s the premise behind the light, open seating w picnicish tables & grass benches(!). Rounding up bc design. Limited opening menu of 2 sandos, «Mustang Relish» and«Smoky BBQ»; you know I ordered both. Full menu in mid January 2016, according to register signage. (^_^) Smoky BBQ $ 9 You had me at BBQ. Plus vegan bacon. (-_^) Mustang Relish $ 8 Kinda generic but dat added avocado doe! My visit started off w Bob Marley in the background. I should totally dress more beachy next time I’m here — sunscreen on my nose & everything.
