Ok, so I broke a tooth(lower left molar) and had to have it extracted some time ago. Good advice: use a bottle opener!(just kidding!) Initially opted for a bridge which is a more economical choice but you must sacrifice the two neighboring teeth for the bridge to be functional. So after about 2 – 3 years the bridge became loose and eventually fell out.(Freakin two times gosh darn it!) My dentist encouraged me to think about an implant. Understanding this would be much more durable and better looking. But more expensive and not likely covered by insurance. They do offer financing. The rest is history… I went to Union Square Oral Surgery for consultation. They were recommended by my very cool dentist(JJ Velasco). I was very impressed by the office staff as they explained to me how the procedure would work and it’s superiority compared to a bridge. An implant is more like your real teeth as opposed to a bridge. So in short, I chose to do the implant. When my appointment arrived I was a bit nervous but the procedure went very smoothly because of the highly skilled surgeon and staff made me feel comfortable and I was able to relax. I would recommend this business to my friends and colleagues.

After my initial consultation concerning my wisdom teeth, I decided to go with this surgeon because I felt comfortable and trusted him, even though I felt the cost was slightly higher than I expected. He was clear and concise explaining to me how and why I should extract my teeth. Surgery went well– they were willing to call in my prescriptions, which is a plus– though there was a small mix up in patients and had I not double checked with the pharmacy I would not have had the pain killers necessary for post-surgery recovery. While I understand my surgery was hard, my jaw was in serious pain for over a week and a half, and 2 weeks later still throbs. I’ve been to see them once after much complaining of pain and not being relieved after 5 days and then again at 1.5 weeks. I wasn’t given any additional explanation, which lead me to belive I had dry socket– which, while I understand probably wasn’t the case, it is still fuzzy as to why I’m still in pain 2 weeks later. Heavier medications were offered, but I would’ve preferred a clearer explanation. In short, I enjoyed the surgeon, but the post-surgery follow up, thosugh accommodating for me hasn’t given me any clarity as to when and how I will get better and why it hurts so badly. I guessI’m one of those people who need EVERYTHING spelled out.
