Decided to try here, based upon positive reviews and prestigious address. Couldn’t be more bewildered! Showed up at 9:30am on a Friday, after confirming their hours as M-F 9:00am — 5:30pm. When I arrived at 9:30? Shop was locked, closed, no one there! So I called and navigated their voicemail OGM to learn their«new» hours were 10am-5pm. Okay. I took a walk, got a coffee, returned at 10:20am. Shop still closed, dark, no answer on their phone. Seeing another merchant wandering the hallway, I inquired as to whether the shop was ever open. His reply? «Yeah, they kinda take it easy… especially on Fridays… They’ll maybe roll in around 1pm…» 1PM?!? A business with such positive reviews actually operates this irresponsibly? Not with my help! Poor business form, jewelers! Poor form. This is a rough economy. If these people aren’t even showing up to work when they claim to be, they do not deserve to any business. Take your business elsewhere: to competitors that might actually be interested in showing up to work for your business!

Located on the 7th floor, looked kind of «back-roomy.» But they turned out to be utterly professional. I had a few gold earrings and a ring I was hoping to sell for some Christmas money. Sharon was very professional(even in her leopard print pants!) and gave me a very fair price for everything. The whole transaction took about fifteen minutes of my time. She cut me a check on a Wells Fargo account and I walked one block to cash it. Everything was on the up-and-up. I would definitely do business here again.

When I wanted to sell some gold recently it wasn’t my first time around the block. I weighed the gold ahead and time and looked up the price to estimate market value and decided on an offer I could live with. Then I set out around lunch to shop it around. Union Square Jewelry Buyers was the second place I came to — mostly on the basis of their good Unilocal reviews and the fact that they’re close to work. They’re in the Shreve building with a bunch of other jewelers. The office was kinda like a shabby doctor’s reception but with a tall plastic partition keeping you far away from all the valuables. This was as expected. Unfortunately they did not offer the best price around. At least not initially. They were at least 10% lower than the first place I went. I told them I had a better offer elsewhere and gave them the details. This caused a phone call and much discussion between the associates in the office and the«expert» or «master» who was out at lunch. Finally they said they could give me a better offer. I asked them what they thought they could do and they increased it to exceed the first offer by another 10% and they made it past my min acceptable amount, so I took it. They didn’t seem happy about it, possibly because their margins were now smaller than they would like, or maybe they were okay about and just pretended to be unhappy as a negotiating tactic. In any case, I was happy with the offer so that’s all that matters. Advice, go to Union Square Jewelry Buyers because they’re willing to match prices but be sure to shop around first.

i love this place! they definitely give you the best price for your gold or silver. they are very kind and helpful. if you have pieces you no longer wear or lost one earring and don’t know what to do with the other, bring it by and have them take a look. you might make some extra cash!

have been there three times, first time sold jewelry and gold, a little cheap on the large diamond but it was an old cut, the gold was ok. the next time i had some platinum which was selling at spot around $ 45 a gram, was offered $ 25 a gram, the gold was ok but i decided not to sell because the guy behind the counter was telling a woman that they wanted to buy her watch but didn’t have money in the bank to cover the check. i decided not to sell because of this and the offered price for the platinum. the last time i went in i sold 14 and 18k gold, this time the gold was lower than expected and when i checked, the 18k was bought at $ 7 a gram less than spot. would feel better if they worked on a percentage like some of the other places do, kind of get the idea that they offer what they think they can get away with. i understand that they have to make a profit but when you are a gold buyer and deal with volume you work on a lower percentage especially when many buyers are paying 90 to 98% of spot.

Fast and easy. They weighed the gold in front of me. Tested it in front of me… and explained the process. I had searched online quite a bit, and decided finally to go here to sell my dental and scrap gold today. I got more than I wanted based on current price. It was pretty cool to watch. Very happy and comfortable with the process too. Very happy with my decision. I joined Unilocal just to give this review because the transaction was so darn good! haha.

DONOTTRUST. I brought in items for estimate and they put everything back into one box. The most valuable item, gold coin, was not put into the box. Another coin was missing from another set, which I presume was gold also. Do not trust them.

Went to a local place in Marin The Gold Drop, who offered my 330, it seemed low. Drove into the city and for the same items these people payed me 531 and paid for my parking. No hassle and very easy.

I went to this establishment after having used an out-of-town coin dealer for years. They paid me a fair price for my coins and, best of all… are a mere bus ride away from me. Having someone local also saved me money on shipping and getting instant payment for my coins is all win. Mike(manager/owner?) was easy to work with over the phone and Carlos, the man who took in my coins on-site was very friendly, thorough and efficient. I will call Union Sq Jewelry Buyers the next time I want to unload some coins.

I sold an antique cigarette case to Carlos and was able to get more than gold weight. Everyone quoted me melt gold prices but Carlos and their jewelry buyer thought it was worth more as an antique. Just wanted to comment on it. Saved me some money. I’d go back.
