So my buddies and I were originally supposed to Tony’s Pizzeria, but because the wait time was an hour and forty five, we were ridiculously hungry and decided to go next door, and ordered a NY Meat Lover’s pizza. The pie was $ 32 – and sure, might sound steep, but the pizza tasted delicious. We had to wait a half hour for the order, and made our way to a local bar. When we came back, we were stoked to enjoy our delicious meal. The slices of pizza are gigantic. One slice will fill up one. Because it was the 3 of us, and some homeless bum asked if we were willing to share, we did of course. It did help us kill the rest of the pizza. We were so full afterward, and it definitely satisfied my hunger. The one drawback about this store is that seating is extremely limited. I get it though-the store is meant for those who want to call in and pick up a pie to take home, not for dine in. Even then, there was a small outdoor eating area. Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal, and plan on coming back on my next visit. Overall grade: A

For our office lunch on Friday, January 22nd, we ordered pizza delivered through Caviar( ). I think the scheduled delivery time was around 12:30pm. It arrived a little before 12:45pm. Prices below are what was paid through Caviar. I compared prices to their online menu and all items are priced more: Caesar(+$ 1.35 each) and Pizza(+$ 4.80 each). So both items were priced 15% more. *Caesar Salad: Caesar dressing with romaine, house croutons, parmigiano, white anchovies($ 10.35 Each x5) *New York 20″ Pizza: Salami, pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, garlic($ 36.80) *New York 20″ Pizza: Potato, bacon, garlic, rosemary, feta, pesto($ 36.80) *New York 20″ Pizza($ 33.35): Pepperoni(+$ 3.45) Let me preface by saying I adore Tony’s pizza! I’ve had it numerous times. The toppings are always top notch and the crust is always soft with a great chew. I don’t know if it was the size of the pizzas we ordered, but there was too much crust on these slices. Granted, the pizza was huge, but I was left with this giant piece of bread at the end. It felt like a waste. I wish they made the crust smaller so we’d get more toppings and sauce. Also, since we got the pizzas delivered, they weren’t that hot, so the crust was extra chewy. It was kinda like a jaw work out. I’ve had their pepperoni before. Always a solid pie. The meat, mushroom, and garlic pie was also good. I adore mushrooms and garlic. I thought the potato and bacon pie was okay. I’m not a huge fan of feta, so this was my least favorite slice. I loved the caesar salad! I adore anchovies, so this was definitely my kind of caesar. Since we got five salads, they packaged it up into one giant salad. This is the 2nd time I’ve had delivery from Tony’s and it’s not quite the same. The crust gets a little too chewy as it cools. Though, if I’m craving a slice and low on time, the slice house will always do.

Tony’s Slice House is the place to grab a quick sandwich, calzone or slice of pie. The line is long but it moves really quickly. On a sunny day, I like to grab my meal and walk across the street to Washington Square and dine on the grass. It goes without saying, this is some of the best pizza in the city. My favorite is the Margherita, simple but so delicious. The Chicago style Italian beef sandwich is the best that I’ve found in SF. Order it dipped with extra giardiniera, which is the traditional spicy, chunky relish made of peppers, okra and other vegetables from Chicago. The Italian beef is super tasty on a cool winter day. Tony’s Slice House has popped up in other locations around the city but this spot in North Beach is the original and best!

Way overpriced for mediocre pizza. I am from NY so I am a little bias but $ 40 for a pizza, half cheese and pepperoni come on now. Better places to get pizza for much cheaper else where in the city.

Best NY-style slice in SF. Yes, it’s pricey at $ 5+ per slice, but it’s worth it. I love their sausage and usually enjoy the pepperoni, but sometimes pepperoni makes the slice too oily.

Stopped here for a slice on the late night after some HH action. The slice was big and delicious and served up fast. There were a few outside seats that worked out as a perfect spot to chow down.

Uh, no. I use to frequent in early 2015 when the pizza was cheaper and tasted better. But as of my last visit, I waited in a long line for dry, burned pizza. Usually the ingredients are tasty but I had the potato pizza and cheese pizza slices which were overcooked /dry and too salty. And I paid a lot more than I did in early 2015, a 68% increase in less than a year? No thanks.

Oh man this pizza spot was bomb. Would definitely come back again. They sell by the slice and the line is out the door but totally worth the wait. will b back again.

Since tony’s napolitana was very busy when we passed we decided to go with a slice and a coke. Since we’re used to belgian pizzas we never had anything like this before and we thought it was absolutely epic! We went with a peperoni and a four cheese and went back for seconds! If my wife wasn’t there to stop me i would’ve probably went back in for thirds!

Stay away tourists: please read this!!! Don’t trust all the press. Most unprofessional experience I have had in a long time and I have worked in the field. Ugh after 30 Minutes of being on hold and hung up on– with indifference by their staff– I was using the number on their Unilocal and on their website. I was told they don’t Actually take delivery orders. I have to use a third party service… read below Real time: Waiting for Alex the manager to pick up after the horrible service I just experience. Supposedly she is in the office. If that is even the managers real name…10 minutes– no response accept for she is right here… put on hold again. Took her 15 minutes to pick up– she was nice but they still couldn’t get me a pizza or a discount for ruining my mealtime experience. — I just called to place a delivery. Female answered. Asked if I could be put on hold. Just waited 15 min to place an order for pizza only to be hung up on… no one ever came back except to hang up on me. Called back out of principle: guy picked up don’t say anything– just placed on hold again Called back a third time: Guy answers says can I put you on hold. I say«I was just on hold for 15 min and your company hung up on me” — his response was a I don’t care flippant«I don’t know who did that but we are a little busy…» But no apology or how can I help you. Avoid this place — they are a little too busy and their staff wastes your time.

If you’re reading this, you are a wise person because you are not only on the search for really good pizza, you also are reading a review written by a really awesome person. Haaa just kidding. But seriously, if you’re looking for a some SEERIOUSLY good and gigantic slices of ‘za, walk around the block from the highly over-rated Golden Boy, and hit up Tony’s. It’s amazing, cheap, hot, delicious, life-changing.

I went to Tony’s next door previous to knowing about the Slice House and absolutely loved their pizza. When I found out that you can get Tony’s pizza at the Slice House next-door without the hour wait, I was ecstatic. However, the slices of pizza I got at the Slice House were a complete 180 from the pizza I had next door. They were hard, crunchy, and barely edible. I got the margherita and pepperoni pizza. The mozzarella cheese and the tomato sauce were good, but the crust was almost like rock. The pepperoni slices were overly cooked, which made it crunchy. Again, the crust was the same as the margherita pizza and it was hard to eat. The cashier also lost my friend’s order and ran out of the margherita even though she had ordered it. The cashier was annoyed that he had to go make another slice for her. With what the other reviewers have stated, I’m thinking this was an off night for them.

I am definitely a huge fan of Tony’s pizza, but the restaurant itself is completely different than the slice house. The slice house is a place where you go and just get pizza either to-go or to eat there and get back to your day. The pizzas are previously made and are just heated up, but still taste great. I had the New Yorker and the Margherita in the restaurant, and went back the next day to the slice house and tried the Margherita again, and it wasn’t the same. It was still good, but nothing beats the original restaurant. This is a definite alternative to the restaurant, but if you can, please take my word and go to the restaurant and enjoy the best pizza!

First off, by all accounts, it seems Tony can do no wrong. If you’re after a quick meal instead of a sit down, involved meal, then Tony’s Slice House is a perfect solution. But, unlike what other Unilocalers have stated, the options here are barely a fraction of what’s available at the full service restaurant next door. It’s no contest. But, we don’t always need 20 pizza variety options, do we? We stopped in last night after trying the newest new neighborhood joint, BarNua. There were about 8 or 9 pie flavors to choose from, &2 different crust styles; thick or thin. There are also calzones & sammies for heartier fare. The service was outstanding. The cashier greeted us like he knew us, took our order, & then, as our order was being filled, he asked us what we’d been up to tonight. He then went on to tell us about another couple that had come in earlier that had also just checked out a new spot in the hood. We were made to feel like primo regulars, even though I’d never actually been here before. I’ve always gone next door. I didn’t get his name, but what a prince of a guy & an employee. Props. We went w 2 picante slices. Our order was plated for us in about a minute. Sweet.(If you order a sammy, or there are a lot people waiting in front of you, your wait may be longer). This pizza was flavorfully potent, the crust had bite, w good texture contrasts between the toppings, the base, & the creamy, smooth peaks of mozzarella. The only thing for me is that I like a more crispy crust. I want it crispy everywhere & throughout. This was solid w bite, but it did have a soft component. It was not soggy at all(most importantly), just a softer bite. There’s a big difference. All seating is outside, except for one booth that seats about 6. Only one table in the house? Kinda cool. Perfect for a casual lunch or casual night. 4 stars.

Avoid the line at Tony’s. I repeat, AVOIDTHELINEATTONY’S. Why wait for 2+ hours on a freaking Wednesday night when you can grab amazing slices of pizza to go and sit in the glorious sun to make sweet love to Margherita?! They serve the same food so really, unless you cannot be satiated if you are not waited upon. Go here and get the same amazing pizza to-go. Their Margherita pizza is amazing. I can’t decide if I like Tony’s or Delfina’s better. Perfectly seasoned tomato sauce base, insanely delicious crust, fresh basil chiffonade, and rich mozzarella… Perfecto! I wish they would put more mozzarella on the pizza though. You only get 1 – 1.5 chunks per slice. After you finish, go to caffe Greco to grab an espresso and tiramisu. There’s your perfect summer night in north beach!

YAS! A great way to get your Tony’s fix without having to wait an hour or two for the restaurant. Most of the pizza is by the slice, but you can get a few of his legendary whole pizzas here including my favorite pizza of all time: The New Yorker. For your reading pleasure, the toppings are Pepperoni, House-Made Calabrese and Fennel Link Sausage, Ricotta, Garlic, Oregano, Pecorino Romano, Mozzarella, Tomato Sauce. So I couldn’t figure out what makes Tony’s pizza so good… then I realized it’s everything. His attention to detail, the cheese, the toppings, the crust(I’m not a crust eater, but I finish these!), and the oven. He’s sort of a Pizza god. Only downsides for the Slice House are that you can’t get the full menu(so none of the awesome meatballs) and there is very limited seating. I haven’t tried any of the sandwiches, but those Italian beef dips are calling my name next time…

Another SF pizza place off the bucket list! …Ok, technically speaking the bookmark was for the Tony’s sitdown restaurant and not the quickie, let’s-get-a-slice-and-bounce spot. But hey, I was in a hurry and I didn’t need more than a slice. Got the New York Meat Lover’s pizza. All I can say is that this was definitely one of the best slices of pizza I’ve ever had. Perfect amount of cheese and tomato sauce, topped with plentiful pepperoni and sausage, and the absolute perfect amount of crust(crunchy, but not too crispy)! Secret Pizza in the Cosmopolitan has most likely fueled my recent preference for New York-style pizza, but Tony’s takes that next level. The only sucky part of this place is that it’s nigh impossible to find a parking spot around North Beach. Pretty much the only«complaint» I can have, because the rest is perfecto.

Came to the city last weekend with the fam to celebrate my birthday! For dinner, we were looking for something fast and good ;) Came to Tony’s on recommendation from our wine tour guide. We had originally wanted to go to the restaurant, but the wait was 1 hour 45 minutes so we ended up at the slice house. We got an assortment of slices(NY cheese, California veggie, purple potato, and NY meat lover). We also got some cokes from their cool old timey machine. The za was very good. Nice and thin. Good crisp. Nice tomato sauce. The purple potato gets a lot of love on Unilocal, but I didn’t think it was anything special. It was greasier than the other slices and didn’t have tomato sauce(which I think is essential to judging a pizza place). They had plentiful seating outside, which was nice, but cold since it’s usually freezing in the city regardless of the time of year. However, it was a nice alternative to waiting for an hour and 45 minutes. The only bummer was that they don’t serve the delicious looking meatballs at the slice house. I suppose we’ll have to return to the restaurant for the meatballs. Also, as everywhere in the city, parking sucks buttocks.

There are days that I show up to eat at Tony’s only to find the line too long for a table or I am so hungry that I can not wait. This brings me next door to the Slice House. The pizza is as good or better than anything that you get in NYC. The slice is huge. The toppings are generous. The price matches the size of the slice, about $ 4.25/slice. 2 slices is enough to be full, but there is a strong desire for a 3rd. What did I learn today? Heaven is filled with Tony’s pizza, Mexican Coke in a bottle, and bicycles with endless newly paved roads.

One hour wait at Tony’s? Ain’t nobody got time for that! Tony’s Slice House, two doors down from Tony’s flagship restaurant is a blessing for those who desire a quick slice without the wait, and it’s open till 11pm! Past that hour, you’ll have to go to different style of Sicilian pizza at nearby Golden Boy. Note: NY Pizza style mostly served at the slice house & it’s a bit different from the actual Tony’s where Neopolitan style is king. Sicilian slices available too, and strangely, Italian Beef sandwiches from Chicago. So how do you tell a NY slice of pizza is good? According to … — Thin layer of crispness at the very bottom: Check. — Soft, chewy, moist crumb: Check. — Pepperoni slices that curled up: Check — Bright & Savory sauce, not sweet: Check — Cheese fully melted, starting to brown but not causing a thick blanket: Check All the makings of a great pizza! NY Cheese Slice: $ 4.50 NY Pepperoni Slice: $ 4.50 Way oversized pizza box for takeout: $.25, lolwat? Yummy level: :P
