Some hole-in-the-walls are great, others are just holes. This is the latter. I ordered a tuna hand roll, crunchy California roll, and avocado/cucumber roll. There was something not fresh in the avocado, which ruined both the cucumber and California roll. The tuna hand roll was ok, but nothing great. Plus, they had a hard time understanding why I wanted a tuna, rather than spicy tuna, hand roll. They asked me three separate times and then had to check with the kitchen to see if they could«accommodate.» Seriously, am I the first person who has ever ordered a non-spicy hand roll here?

Nice to come here when it’s cold outside. Their noodle soups warms you up and to make matters better, they are pretty darn good. The last time I came here I ordered the chicken donburi with a side of curry. My one criticism is that the curry could’ve been better. I think I’ve been spoiled by Mitsuwa’s curries. Otherwise, small place and quick service, hence the word«express». Really nice staff, and you can eat inside. They bring the food to you and also bring around your complimentary side dishes. Their service is surprising for a place though it seems like a «fast-food» joint Have self serve tea and water complimentary on tap. I love coming here for a quick Japanese lunch :) I don’t come often but when I do, I feel nothing but relaxed and leave with a full belly

This is a great spot for fast food sushi. My office has been ordering from here for 5 years though none of us have actually eaten in the establishment. In these 5 years, they have never gotten our orders wrong and they pack our lunches in individual bags with our name and items labeled. Their rolls are of a good size without too much rice and the fish is fresh and they give you decent slices of sashimi. We love their Agedashi Tofu and their Udon, Donburi and Salmon Bento Box are just as tasty. They offer brown rice but not for the sushi rolls. Some of our favorite rolls Francisco Roll, Heaven Roll, and Spider Roll. My vegetarian colleagues and those who don’t eat raw can find a number of great things to eat here.

Not the best Japanese food if you’re looking for legit, but it’s a lower than average price, large portions and filling for the Financial District. Different specials daily — can’t beat that if you’re someone who doesn’t look forward to eating the same thing everyday when you’re on a budget

Great food, fast service and great location. It’s right across my work and it only takes 10 – 15 minutes for my order to be ready. I haven’t had a bad meal from this place. Would I go back? Definitely Highly recommended

This is a small hole in the wall sushi place. That said, they have a convenient location in the financial district and a pretty big selection of sushi, including vegetarian sushi items. I passed over the vegetarian sushi combination to get two separate rolls — the crispy tofu roll and the classic avocado roll. They were both pretty good and relatively filling for a ~$ 8 meal.

The service was amazing. The cashier was pleasant and the waitress was very nice. The food came to us a few minutes after we ordered. The portions were a decent size for the price and while the tonkatsu rice and sushi rolls I ordered weren’t the best I had eaten, they weren’t that bad either. In fact, it tasted quite good for my standards. Overall, this was a joy. I’d recommend this place for anyone coming here for the first time.

Ordered their Salmon Donburi for lunch today. The pickup was online and they gave you a lot, including a salad, a miso soup and the main entrée. However, the Donburi is not authentic donburi at all, not even close. There is a sunny side up egg on top of a bed of fresh vegetable. The salmon terriyaki is fine on its own but I feel cheated by the name of «Donburi».

Ate lunch here. Friday special was charashi $ 15 with soup and salad. A little crowded at noon when office workers are lined up for take out. We manage to get one of the few eat in tables. Charash had rice, raw salmon, tuna, yellow tail, egg, roe with seaweed and daikon shreds. Nice looking bowl and tasty. Removal of dirty dishes was fast and efficient. No parking so this place is meant for walk ins.

Quick service and reasonably-priced, fresh food. This is one of my lunch places during the work week and although their sushi rolls are somewhat on the smaller side, I like that I’m able to get my order in and out quickly. Plus they include a small side salad and miso soup with most lunch combo orders. This place also gets my vote for the location and convenience factor. It is always crowded for lunch with other people on lunch break in the FiDi, but wait time has never been an issue due to their quick service. They do great office catering and delivery as well. I like their udon soups and rice bowls too.

Very good place to get a quick take out if you are craving some Japanese food. Their employees are very courteous and fast with the service. I recommend their Udon soups(any of them). The broth for their udon is AMAZING. Got to try it to believe me. It has a kick of sweet but also of salty, and it stays in your mouth for a moment. I will say that a legit umami japanese flavor in that broth. Again, if you work around the financial area of SF you have to give it a try. I will give it 5 stars if it were not because it gets very busy during lunch time, like every small restaurant around the area.

This is a great lunch spot. I always come because it’s close to my office, they crank out the food quick, and the food is good. Solid lunch specials for $ 10 – 14 depending on the day. They pack it up nicely when you take it to go, including soup, salad, and all of the condiments.

After trying a bunch of stuff from Tokyo Express, I’ve decided that my favorite on the menu is their chicken teriyaki bento box! They make it good here and they give you TONS of chicken. Their chicken isn’t dry at all! I kinda wish they would give you a little bit more rice to go with the chicken! Their bento boxes also comes with a salad and miso soup. Sometimes I order California rolls to go with my bento box when I’m in a starving mood. Tokyo Express is also the cheapest spot in SF Fidi for chicken teriyaki bento box.

My company catered lunch from here and we had giant party platters of sushi which were surprisingly good with decently fresh fish. I’ve had many bad experiences with catered sushi which usually turns out bad, but the ones from Tokyo Express were really good and we finished all of it! There were not much fancy rolls or fancy sushi, but it was pretty decent for catered sushi. Definitely hope to have more food catered from here in future!

I’m honestly not sure if they were the people to cater our lunch at work or not, but I was told the food was from Tokyo Express and this was the closest location to the office, soooo this is me assuming that the two places are one and the same. We ordered many different items from them, but I personally loved the tempura vegetables and shrimp(but this is also hard to mess up, unless the tempura isn’t crunchy and is drenched in oil). The edamame was also pretty good, though there wasn’t much salt on the soybeans. The sushi was only okay though — nothing to write home about. The teriyaki was also only just okay. Decent food, but I guess I’ll have to order from them specifically to be sure that this is the same place and give a more specific review.

This was my go-to place for lunch before, but then they raised their prices! Well, to be fair, they did keep their prices low for quite a long time. That’s why I used to come here so often, because their prices were the lowest in the area. Now you have to go for the daily specials to take advantage of their previously low prices. I like going on Monday for the chicken udon($ 6.59) or Tuesday for the salmon teriyaki rice bowl($ 7.37). They also have a good deal on the Chirashi on Friday for $ 15. Basically, the specials start out cheaper earlier in the week and starts getting more expensive as the week goes on. Tip: If you don’t like their iceberg lettuce salad with the mayonnaise dressing that comes with many of the meals, you can substitute edamame for free! Bonus Tip: Pay with the LevelUp app to get $ 5 back for every $ 50 spent!
