Delicious little breakfast spot. Our group of 6 walked in around 9:45 on a Sunday. They were very friendly and accommodating. It’s pretty small inside but they rearranged the tables to make room. The french toast was very good. We also had waffles that were quite tasty. The service was great. We’d definitely return.

Nice brunch spot. Never a long wait. The service can be slow when the restaurant is packed, but brunch should always be enjoyed rather than rushed!

Polk street is full of elevated brunch spots with different international twists. Toast… isn’t one of those places. You want your eggs with bacon, potatoes/hash browns and some pancakes? Well this is your place. I ordered eggs with toast and hash browns. It definitely filled me up. My friend ordered pancakes and overall it was fine. It’s like another Mel’s or Denny’s just more expensive since it was on polk. Same ambiance with booths, tables and bar seating and feeling like a layer of artificial syrup was floating in the air. I’d recommend that they get better ventilation as it has a stuffy feel inside. With all the options on polk I’d probably be not back anytime soon unless I really really just want eggs and«toast».

Not a good start to our first time in San Francisco. Walked in, greated, and were sat at the end of the bar. Waited almost 10 minutes and weren’t acknowledged at all. No water, no good morning, no «we will be with you in just a min», nothing. As the two families that walked in and were served right away. The hostess even came back to our area and rearranged the ketchup bottles on front of us and walked away. Needless to say, we got up and walked out. I hope if you choose to dine at this facility your service is better than ours was. We will not be returning.

Thought this would be a good place to grab breakfast since it was close by. Boy was I wrong! I placed my order before several people who came after me. Little by little I saw they were getting their food first. I walked over to the waiter and he told me they put my food in a box. I didn’t place a to go order I was sitting down sipping on green tea. He brushed it off like it was no big deal. When my food finally came out I didn’t enjoy it at all. It was barely warm. I’m always in San Fran but I’ll be sure not to visit this restaurant again. Also, I’m going to tell all my friends who frequent San Fran also to stay away!

My co-worker and I get tired of the usual drab you can find pretty much everywhere in the city, so we opted for some«comfort food». Toast is GREAT when you are craving some tasty breakfast or lunch items. They have everything from omelets to waffles, and sandwiches to salads… YUM! I had a hankering for hash-browns and eggs so it was only right that I ordered the«Toast Scramble». This Scramble consists of: eggs, bacon, apple sausage, mushrooms, onions, and american cheese. In addition, the Scramble comes with your choice of toast with a side of hash-browns. I have been known to be a bit of a sour cream freak so I added that on the side for my potatoes. As I sit here typing this review, I am incredibly stuffed and satisfied. There is something about a bomb scramble that makes my tummy do cartwheels of joy(corny I know). The combination of apple smoked sausage, mushrooms, and onions was amazing. You pretty much get a combo of sweet with just a tad of tang from the onions. The melted cheese on top was pretty delicious as well. Now depending on if you add extra items, you are looking at a $ 10-$ 15 Scramble, which in my opinion is a tad bit steep for eggs and what not. For 2 Scrambles, my co-worker and I paid $ 28 and this did not include beverages! I can’t really speak about the service since we took our food to go, but this location overall is a tad bit on the small side. You definitely get that good ol diner feel though from the décor, booths, and tables. Toast offers a pretty good variety overall so they are for sure worth a try!

I’m also curious why the average rating is not higher. I found it to be all that a corner eatery should be. It was warm and inviting, well lit with natural lighting, clean and comfortable. My waiter was friendly, attentive, smiling and very helpful. The food was as good or better than any breakfast style chain restaurant I visit regularly. I loved it and will be back next time I’m in town!

Service — awesome. Food — solid diner. Wait time — 2 minutes. This is the most attractive diner in the area. Whether you’re tired of walking around the NH(Nob Hill) or just need a quick byte before heading out to the office come here and you won’t leave disappointed.

We waited as long as others but the servers are so biased and racist. They made us sit near the restroom, when there was a place available right close to the façade. Even when I asked her for that place she refused to give us that spot. The couple who came later than us got that table! But really bad ethics! It killed my mood and the idea behind having brunch at toast! Highly disappointed.

I’t was the worst service. I was sitting outside with my dog. Took forever for the server to take my order and then sat there waiting for my food. Finally the food came out, nothing special. I was seating there eating when the homeless lady came over to me and wanted my food. She would not leave me alone. Not 1 person in that restaurant would come out and help me. I can’t be mean to homeless, but I needed help. It was the worst experience in a restaurant. I’m so upset. Just remember the service is horrible.

I LOVETOAST! Ive been coming here since they first opened on church. A friend of a friend owns the place and she loves working there too. Delicious food, large portions, and great prices(breakfast only!). The polk st one is new and nice, lots of indoor seating unlike the others. Cute place for brunch dates!

food was so-so — typical to average diner-y food. the hash browns were nice and crispy! the service was very good — quick and efficient and the staff were very friendly. one thing of note which isnt their fault and probably cant be helped is the plethora of homeless/drunk people in the neighborhood. one kept yelling through the door, it was more than a bit annoying.

You want early morning rude, this is the place to go. The saying«not what you say but how you say it» holds true. with this short, dark haired girl. Crowded, a disabled persons nightmare. I was next in line, told her I was to cold to wait outside. I am a senior disabled citizen. She rudely made it clear it wasn’t an option. I told her she was rude and she made a production with other employees. Two tables opened up, no one went to the list ‚ And we almost didn’t get seated. I had to go in and say we were next. This same girl brought me cold food, I mean, how hard is it to get a hot poached egg and English muffin? Then asked, later in the meal, the others if they needed anything, totally ignoring me. The other two in my party got piping hot food. I am extremely disappointed!

The place has always caught my eye driving by so my BFF’s birthday was today and we came here to eat a birthday breakfast. To my surprise as we were going to sit in the back of the restaurant someone exited the bathroom and the smell was so bad I wanted to run but we had already ordered our beverages so we moved to the front by the door. The smell is still lingering in the air! It’s smells like gas station bathroom! The price for this meal isn’t worth the smell. The health code is only 87 which is scary it’s self. Let’s see how the food tastes!!!

Not impressed. I came here with a group of friends for brunch in New Year’s Day and was told it would be a 15 minute wait. Well… That was a lie. It was more like 45 minutes! Just be honest. We ordered as soon as we were seated since we had had time to look at menu. My and friend and I shared the veggie burrito. What a disappointment! He burrito is so skimpy on the fillings– way more tortilla than anything else. By fiancé had the chicken and waffles. I think they were frozen chicken strips! No bone in the chicken. There are lots of great places to eat in SF– this is not one of them.

Toast is a little neighborhood diner with decently priced brunch options. All of the Scramblers can be made vegan(with tofu) and there are a number of options from which to choose. I essentially built my own and I was pleased with the results, the tofu scramble was good – even better once hot sauce was added – and the hash browns were extremely good.

Friends recommended we come here — was disappointing. Wasn’t horrible, just not memorable. Eggs were fine, bacon was way over cooked. Coffee was good? Probably wouldn’t return, though if you’re looking for a cheap basic breakfast, this is your spot.

#245. I’m going to keep this one short. We came here for brunch and someone got the eggs florentine. A few minutes after we left, said person had to rush to find the nearest bathroom even though we were literally two blocks away from home. Said person had a terrible experience in the bathroom. Looks like there’s a connection here.

I should’ve ordered the Eggs Benedict. It’s what I was hungry for. The other diners at nearby tables seemed to be enjoying theirs. When the waitress arrived to take our order, I should’ve just said, «Calories be damned. I want me some Eggs Benny!» But instead, I choked, and just ordered 2 eggs over-easy with hash browns, bacon, and an English muffin. I know… I know… pretty bland order, to say the least. So I can’t really fault the kitchen for anything. I will say, however, that the bacon was overcooked and dry. Don’t get me wrong — bacon(just like cold pizza) is always good. But these meaty strips looked like they had been sitting on the counter for a while. The hash browns were your standard greasy spoon fare(crispy on the outside, and mushy on the inside; and delicious with ketchup and hot sauce). Service was quick and friendly. Our waitress made sure our tea/coffee cups were always full. We sat in booth by the window, which was great for Polk St. people-watching. All in all, our breakfast was fine — just not memorable. Next time… I’m going to order the Eggs Benedict.

Old school diner, hello! Taking out my 94 year old great-aunt is always fun, because dayum, that woman can EAT! Immediately after lunch, she suggests waffles. Of course, being me, I’m down! BF and I order separately, because sometimes, sharing is caring-slash-trying-two-things-at-once. He got the nutella and banana pancakes, which is always a crowdpleaser. I decided on the All-American Option — bacon waffles. They did not disappoint. The bacon waffles were jam packed with big, juicy bits of bacon. The nutella and banana… well, really, where can you go wrong? Service was good, and prompt, though they completely missed my order of fresh orange juice… oh well! Who am I kidding, anyways? Like the OJ is going to offset the bacon! Overall, it was a tasty, happy experience. Great auntie tried all of our waffles, and ordered a plain waffle herself. Smiles all around!
