Dr. Shih is amazing. From the moment I met her I became very aware that this neurologist was thoroughly intent on understanding my medical problem. She must have spent close to an hour taking a patient history on our first visit. In eight years of being treated for the same problem, I have never had a neuro who knew exactly what I was trying to communicate. I usually get flustered and nervous trying to explain my symptoms. She asked so many questions that I had no doubt before I left her office that she knew exactly what was going on with me. She handed a written plan of follow-up suggestions, probably a simplified version of what was sent to my PCP. I knew from her intensity and interest that she really cared. I came from out of state to see her as I’d read a lot about her– was not disappointed. She has subsequently communicated by phone and email, although I’ll be seeing her again very soon. Can’t say anything but positive things about her. This is a doctor who clearly not only loves her field but is wholly dedicated to her patients as well. I hope that her family gets to see her as I think she might be one of those doctors who works very long hours not wanting to miss any detail! Nice, nice lady. But 4 month wait to see her.
