My favorite thing about this place is that it’s cheap! The sandwich was pretty good and it has a cute atmosphere. Sandwich chips and a drink forn under $ 10.

Oh I’ll be back to this place alright! Sandwiches are pretty easy to make I’d say, but actually making a great sandwich is a bit difficult. These guys have done it, I got the Kitchen Sink Sandwich with all the fixings and it has got to be the best sandwich I have had in some time. When my craving for a good sandwich returns. I too will return to the Toaster Oven.

Lunchtime in SOMA is a bit like the wild wild west, there is opportunity in just about every direction. Sandwich lovers can realize their dreams at The Toaster Oven, one of many spots dedicated to almighty toasted sammy. One easy reason to consider coming here — lines are pretty manageable even during peak lunch hours. The setup is somewhat Quizno’s like, choose a sandwich, let it go through a large toasting machine(#1), and then a separate line for random condiments. Best of all, the prices are super affordable for SF, which the most expensive sammy goes for a little over $ 5. The sandwiches themselves are pretty simple. Save for the popular«kitchen sink»(an all-in-one sandwich of roast beef, turkey, salami, ham, provolone cheese), most of the other sandwiches are one namers: meatball, turkey, tuna, piezzano, and so on. The kitchen sink gets my vote for the fave from this location, but the Italian comes in on a very close second. There aren’t a ton of places to sit, which can be annoying for some, but consider take out and make the hike back to wherever you came from. Don’t be too down about the service, the staff seems to change often. In the end, the Toaster Oven is a good takeout option for hungry folks on the go. ___________ (#1) Didn’t find a single toaster oven here. Oh the irony.

Good Spot, should give 4 stars but«Dayne,» was pretty awesome. The Kitchen sink with hot peppers is BOMB! easy and relatively quick. its also right by the transbay terminal so be aware of what hour you try to pop in there during. I go to the toaster oven pretty often considering how packed your sandwich is for the cost.

Inside scoop. One of my favorite sources for food news: One of my favorite techniques for sandwiches: Scooping out some of the bread to lower the carbs and calories. Still plenty of both. Just not as much. Leaves more room for things like turkey, marinara sauce, lettuce and tomato on the aforementioned 7″ whole wheat roll. Very good if not quite five star quality. This was my first visit in years and couldn’t believe the price was still $ 5.79 plus tax. Consider it a scoop on one of the best sandwich deals in town.

I’ve been working in the neighborhood for about 18 months and decided to give Toaster Oven another go after almost a year of not going there. I’m not sure how a sandwich with giardiniera can taste bland, but that’s what I had today. Overall, my recollection from prior times I went was the sandwiches all kind of taste the same and it doesn’t actually matter what meat you get in them. I think one of the other downsides is the bread. It’s a little too bready and«meh». I should probably take them up on the«scooped» option one of these times. The neighborhood offers much better sandwich selections. Toaster Oven offers the non-Subway toasted option, but isn’t an attraction otherwise.

Really nice cashier(he gave us free cookies when we mentioned its our first time in the area). Ambience and menu reminded me of Potbelly’s. Tried the piezzano, the bread could’ve been better(more toasted perhaps), a bit lacklustre overall. 4 stars just for the awesome cashier! PS. Go before 12, after noon the line here can extend out of the doorway.

Like a fancy subway. Why was I expecting better? The mushrooms on the veggie are raw. A far cry from the grilled cheese I was looking for. Just know to expect a fancy subway, NOT a grilled cheese specialty place.

I really enjoyed this place because 1) it’s close to my work and 2) it’s not as greasy as The Melt right around the corner. I like their selection. Though I’ve only been here one time, I ordered the KCBBQ Chicken Sandwich. Note: they give you ample amounts of cheese, so ask for only 1 slice, otherwise it’s overbearing. This place is super fast, and each sandwich is very hearty. Flavor-wise, this place definitely busts Subway, but it all depends on your taste. Tip: download MOGL to receive 10% off of your purchase! This is a great offer, and it definitely gives you a significant price saving on your lunch.

I am sad to see so that a few of the other locations have closed. When I worked nearby, I would grab lunch at one of their locations regularly. Their sandwiches are hard to beat, especially at this price. They are hearty, made to order just the way you like it and best of all: TOASTED! You can have your bread scooped, double toasted if you want and pick all of your toppings. I even ask them to smoosh my sandwich so it’s not so big. Sometimes the line is long, but there’s a sign that lets you know if you are standing at a certain point, it will only take«x» minutes. And it’s true, so line up! There’s also seating available, which is really nice so if you do have time, you can enjoy your sandwich while it’s hot. If you are really indulgent and willing to splurge on the calories, don’t miss the milkshake or cookie — both are really good!

Get your sandwich with everything, you won’t regret it. My favorite’s are the Kitchen Sink and Italian. Solid 4 star. Not amazing but hit’s the spot. If there’s a line I usually just skip this joint.

location is good though. but the star is merely for the low price. Selling Naked Juice doesn’t help anymore(because a recent settlement about its false claim of Non-GMO/all natural/vitamin boost made me stop purchasing this brand) Minus stars are for the unergonomic layout of ordering and paying stations. I walk straight to the cashier and was told that I should go to the back of the restaurant to order. THEN you should create some clear instructions! When I was asked to choose the ingredients, I frankly told him that I couldn’t see anything because the counter is not see-through type. so I said just put everything in! But he’s not smart enough to less the portion of sauces so the volume of the sandwich and each bite in my mouth is full of mustard! Taste awful Also, the place ain’t clean…

Pretty darn good sandwiches! Simple, fresh, and reasonably priced. A perfect lunch place in the SoMa /FiDi area. Reminds me a bit of Pot Belly from the east coast.

Was nearby for work and dropped in for lunch. It was a Saturday and there was no line. I ordered the«kitchen sink». The sandwich came out very fast. I got wheat bread, which had a light crunch on the outside and was tender on the inside. Good size sandwich, toppings are fresh & tasty, reasonable prices. There is seating inside, but the music is loud. Nice place to grab a quick bite to eat.

Who doesn’t like a toasted sandwich? Especially if you can order something like the Piezzano(which is essentially just a pizza sandwich with its pepperoni, mushrooms, marinara sauce, and provolone cheese). Or the Italiano with mortadella, capricola, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese? And pay just under $ 6 bucks for the whole whooping thing… And only have to wait about 2.5 minutes for your sandwich because they got this assembly line assembling down pat here… And add a milkshake to your order… Sure, it’s a small chain and doesn’t have the hip SF feeling that some other sandwich shops might flaunt. But, for the price, the taste, and the low-low waiting times I’m definitely a fan.

I think we can all agree that the dude behind the counter(and the dude may change frequently) isn’t so interested in the art of a good sandwich. But the good news is, that they’ve got such a simple procedure that the dude’s not really gonna blow it. It’s a Quizno’s with a little life. And the prices aren’t so far off. I had the Kitchen Sink – which is full of delicious meat that you scarf down in some mighty tasty bread. Add the avocado. The space has some decent seating and the line moves fast. I added a handscooped chocolate shake(it’s a crime not to) and loved every milky moment. Ain’t nothing fancy, but a solid lunch stop when you have to hurry.

I like the Toaster Oven for several reasons. 1) it has an unpretentious yet varietal sub menu. There are tons of crunchy condiments such as olives, cabbage, and tomato in most selections & they pack a lot of flavor! 2) i love brick walls & this location has one. They add a comforting cozy vibe and a pop of color. 3) Prices are reasonable, especially so for FiDi. The End!

BBQ Chicken Sandwich locked and loaded. SO Good. They have a nice working system where you walk along as your sandwich is made which makes the whole process seem less daunting and much quicker. They surprisingly had plenty of seating even though we went at the peak of the lunch hour and there was a significant line. I added on a bag of chips and a drink and was out the door for under $ 10 which I consider a success for a sandwich that filling. I would def go again.

met hubby for lunch, he had been here before I had a veggie with bell peppers, on wheat bread, scooped with everything except onions, cheese, or mayo. Hubby got a regular veggie . We both got bottled water and each got a bag of Pop Chips to make it a combo. We got here right at the start of the lunch crowd. The food was really good, but the place had too much staff for being soo tiny and they were plain confused. I would have given them five stars. The staff asked all customers to repeat their orders and of two registers one was being taken up by a lady taking an order over the phone. This place is always busy and I’m just someone that stopped here because my hotel is near. For me to know this much and study the staff this close… well the situation… it does not take a genius to know they need to get organized. Take orders on a back computer and don’t let the line build up out the door. Anyway back to the food… I love the peppers which are pickled and not that spicy at all. I love how the bread was perfectly toasted and all the veggies were fresh. A+ food C– staff

Not even Lee’s makes you feel as much like a lemming as the Toaster Oven, and I mean that as a very sincere compliment. Honest. Hey, I’m not looking for ambiance or personable service when I’ve made up my mind to go to the Toaster Oven for lunch. I am a surly, sullen torpedo with exactly thirty minutes between meetings, and I don’t need no sommelier explaining the wine list to me. I want to be yelled at. I want to bark back my order. I want to grab my sandwich. I want out of there. Done. It’s quite an assembly line there. It makes Café Venue look like a Marx Brothers movie… ok, like a Paris Hilton pillow fight with her BFF. Precision ordering is what the Toaster Oven is about. You better be ready or you risk the glares of similarly schedule-challenged FiDi office workers. Luckily I knew to get the $ 4.99 Roast Beef and Provolone Cheese with the works, hot and crunchy out of the oven and in the bag before I even realized my transaction was over. No hello. No «How’s your day going?». No goodbye. You know, just like very other relationship in your sad professional life. I’m not projecting, I swear. FOOD — 3 stars… it’s toasted… stop complaining! AMBIANCE — 3 stars… what? SERVICE — 3.5 stars… faster than a speeding bu… TOTAL — 3 stars… sammies for the working drone
