I went to Room Ultra with a huge group and we had no idea what to expect. Knowing it was in a rougher part of town intrigued us, and we were even more excited to get there. Upon arriving, it took us a while to find a parking space nearby, and we didn’t want to walk far in the dark. It took longer than we wanted and caused us to loose a little energy, but we finally parked and the excitement came back. So we waited in line and paid the cover charge($ 20, which we don’t mind), and walked in. Décor was very cool and the music was mainly rap, sound system was decent but a little too much sub woofer for my taste. I can’t really hear the song when the bass is so loud. Anyway, we danced and got drunk and started talking to everyone we could meet. To be honest, on that night the majority of the crowd was African American, but we love getting involved with different cultures and races(humanity needs that positive energy). Then a fight broke out… two guys started swinging and wrestling and falling all over people at the bar which caused everyone’s drinks to start spilling, which got more people annoyed AND involved. I must say, we don’t see this kind of action when we normally go out, but we loved it! However, this excitement quickly faded, and I realized three different drinks had been spilled all over my clothes and brand new Dior Shoes Overall, I would give this place 2 stars, but the excitement and fresh faces do make me want to come back soon and try again. Next time I’ll dress for it.

I don’t even know why I’m writing a review, I must be bored. And… I don’t know why anyone comes here, just seeing the train wrecks waiting in line to get in was enough for us to keep walking by. It was on the way back that I noticed the drunk chicks spilling purses, falling down in the street and getting into fights. We were entertaining out of town guests and they couldn’t believe their eyes. Welcome to 6th Street. There is no «Ultra Lounge».

I came back to this club gosh 3 years later and things have changed. Yes, this part of the neighborhood is not so good. Although, I parked on 6th in 2008 and nothing happened to my car that time. I guess I am lucky now that I am reading all the other reviews. On a Saturday night in 2011, it is strictly African American night. I was the only Asian girl in the house that night. The DJ even announced to not show«asian girls with flat asses any love» and everyone looked at me. Kinda funny, but at the same time kinda rude too. The club inside is pretty nice décor and there is a flight of stairs that leads you down to the dance floor which is nice. What I really enjoy about his club is that they play really good Hip pop music and some R and B. I would have to say I had an Okay time this time around.

The Room Ultra Sucks… I only came here because it was experience behind the bar for SFSOB. Otherwise i would never recommend coming here. They don’t seem to care that their CD player skips every 30 seconds, so you will most likely leave with a headache. Very small space and in a sketchy area.

We went here for my friend Lauren’s bday and we did the whole bottle service thing… the host was on it. All of our party got in with no problems and both the host and hostess made sure we were taken care of. — The main dance room is pretty small, so it did heat up in there pretty quickly(side note-VIP area has a FAN)… When we went, there was a private party going on in the back room, and there’s another room in the back that has a wall of mirrors and it’s dark in there… hmmm i wonder what that room was for. Also, *LADIES* don’t get caught in the long ass line for the bathroom. There are 2 bathrooms and most people didn’t even know about it. I don’t know what happened when the other UnilocalTERS went, but there was no fights or not HOTGHETTOMESSES. The crowd was fun and we were totally cool with pulling up the hot guys to come and party with us in the VIP section. I have to take away 2 stars because of the parking and the DJ. Being that the club is on the main street, there is no convienent parking. We had to circle around like 3 times to get a park. The DJ was alright. He didn’t play any of the TOP40 and every song that he played was a mix-it was never the actual song…

Okay, So I am person that clubs all over San Francisco and Oakland and I am not easily discouraged by location or what is looks like on the outside. I am all about the crowd, the promoter, and how well the music keeps the crowd entertained. THISPLACEWASHORRIBLE We arrived around 11:35, and paid a HORRIBLE $ 20 cover charge, as it was amateur night, and they would have live performance… cough cough By 12:00 a large fight broke out and it was down heal from there, we we stuck in side the club for at least 30 mins at both exits were being blocked by fights and security guards, trying to break them up. This is everything GHETTO stands for! I would never come back. EVER!

I agree with the location being smack down in the hood, but what can you do, for the ladies just don’t walk alone(which ya never do anyway). And its frisco, unless your clubbing in the marina or some desolate industrial area, its the city live wit it. I’d recommend to park on mission a block up in both directions always, never park on sixth even if its close, unless your feeling lucky that night As far as the joint itself, theres a lot of security big dudes too. And its size, the best word to describe the place is cozy, the bar is right there when you walk in for those that are thirsty. I thought the downstairs was all. aight, different you know, kinda of a chic basement party. Good for a private gathering or just an intimate setting for those who like to dance in close quarters. In retrospect, not the worst place I’ve been but give it a chance if you in the area.

6th& Mission… hmmm…just looking at the address, you know you’re heading to the G.H.E.T.T.O. Its pretty much at the edge of the TL. Not really a place you want to be wandering around at night. But alas, it was my friend’s birthday, and I had already committed myself. I designated myself as DD, and luckily found a parking spot across the street from the club… but I still prayed that my car would be there when I got back. We get in with the free guest list and head downstairs to the bar/dance floor. The crowd was a bit different than what we were used to, but overall, it wasn’t bad… yet. Luckily the birthday boy reserved a table, and we had a decent sized section to hang out in. Around 12:45, a fight broke out… and then another(chick fight… girl lost her shoe)…and another. Geeez. can’t we all just get along? That was the deal breaker. Party’s over people… time to go. The birthday boy pleaded with the DJ, but to no avail. The cops were outside, and we had to go. Still had fun with friends, but lesson learned… no more ghetto clubs in the TL.

I totally agree with Carrie C.‘s review. — Location of the Room is borderline TL, I wouldnt even call it SOMA. Its more like lock your car, put the club on, and put on another club to ensure when you come back your car is there — 2 floors: 2 bars and 2 dance floors. Not sure what music was upstairs but downstairs was hip hop that was alright. Lots of ppl dancing and sweating — Bartenders were quick with serving you and they do accept credit cards!($ 20 min) — Girls Bathroom was alright, surprisingly. — Sorta ghetto crowd — i mean come on if there’s 3 fights that break out in a span of 10 min G-H-E-T-T-O

the Room not so Ultra. It’s located in a sketchy area of SOMA, but really is borderline TL. After reading some of the reviews, I was hoping the interior would make up for the exterior. ehhh not so much. My friend had his bday there and was able to secure an entire section off for his party so that was nice. After a few drinks I was beginning to feel the vibe and not care so much about the dungeon like club. Unfortunately, one fight broke out after another, and another. One girl even got uppercutted by another chic! What a scene! Needless to say, the club shut down at 1AM, kicked everyone out bc of the nonsense. Hey Ultra lounge… I think you owe my friend a discount for the bottles he purchased at your club. Ghettoooo

Reasons to like it: It’s has some unique decorations inside. Good effort on that part. Reasons to hate it: 1) $ 5 cover charge… i thought it said free on the website? 2) The area is not friendly. I was honestly scared b/c the area is rather ghetto & my friends & I felt as though we were in real danger the WHOLE time we were standing in line. Security guard didn’t even stop the bums from coming up to us to ask for money, even tho we were 7th in line. 3) The place is rather SMALL. 4) The long flight of stairs from upstairs to downstairs, which is especially not fun in heels. 5) Parking is a bit tough, not as bad as Broadway, but I’ve had it MUCH easier! 6) Drinks are about the same… sex on the beach would be $ 8. 7) The bathroom had 2 stalls, one stall only had half a toilet seat on it! ghetto!!! Music was decent and there are seating areas for you to rest which is always a plus! However, I don’t plan on going back.

Are you people for real? I came here on a Thursday Night. The outside looked nice and this was bar #2 after Icon Ultra Lounge was disappointing. After stepping into The Room, I was even MORE disappointed. You bay area folks need to fawking stop calling places Ultra Lounges when they are actually just Ultra Dives. Well when I walked in, they roped it off so you had no choice but to go downstairs(so I can’t tell you what the upstairs is like). I walk down the stairs and felt like I just walked down someones basement. There was a small cement dance floor and one booth bench and a small bar and two bathrooms. Now let me to describe the bathroom to you. There is no door to the restroom, there is some metal wire bamboo shaped thing covering the entrance(and the bathroom stall door is next to the door) which means anyone who walks by can peer through the bamboo thing and watch you go pee. I got to this place at around 11:15PM and there was no sanitary paper, no toilet paper and one of the toilet stalls had a broken toilet seat. The toilet seat was half broken off. WTF? Are you serious? No soap, no nothing. Freakin disgusting. Crowd was ghetto! High end liquor of the night was CIROC(at the end I realize it made so much sense, since the crowd WAS hella ghetto). We decided to bounce and as I was walking upstairs, one of the bouncers asked me why I was leaving. I told him that I was tired and I had a long weekend of partying ahead of me. He told me to wait b/c this place was gonna get crackin’. Uh sure buddy. As we were walking out, my friend noticed the bouncers lying to some guys who were trying to get in that there was a $ 10 cover. Damn, that’s scandalous, how you gonna screen people when your venue caters to ghetto folks anyways? Let them party and frequent your place so you can make some $$ to buy new toilet seats. Geesh.

HIGHLIGHTS: –we got prime street parking after looking for hellzzaa long. is this due to anything the room did for us? no. but i still love getting good parking. it always contributes to whether the night is good or bad. i had to be outta there by 2am though or else i would’ve gotten a ticket. lame. –cutting in front of everyone because about 30 of our friends were already in the front. it’s mean and i felt bad for the people behind us, but you would’ve done it too. don’t lie. –getting in for free because it was my friends birthday and he set it up so that him and 5 friends could get in without paying cover. –no lines for the bathroom. very accessible from the dancefloor too. NOTSOHIGHHIGHLIGHTS: –the cover being $ 25 for everyone who had to pay after guestlist, which was EVERYONE since they let in like 2 people before 10:30 then held the line up until about 11pm. about half our group decided to go elsewhere because cover was so steep. $ 25?! do you want my kidneys too, mr. room?! –awkward group of ed hardy wearing white dudes being way too belligerent. ew. they thought because they had bottle service and were wearing ugly $ 50 shirts that they could bump into everyone on the dancefloor and lift each other up while everyone dancing around them feared for their safety. who wants to be dancing and all of a sudden get trampled by a rude white guy wearing ed hardy? not me, no siree. –the dj’s NOT playing the song i requested. like, if you don’t want to play it, tell me when i ask you to. then i’ll already know i won’t hear it. but the dude just nodded a yes nod to me, so i thought i was gonna hear it. boo to you, dj. and FYI, no one likes it when you replay songs! i don’t want to hear«got money» 81 times! –aundrea from danity kane supposedly being the celebrity host of the evening and COMPLETELYNOTSHOWINGUP. and randomly they had some nobody guest perform in the middle of the night. wth? no one asked you to sing us a song. if your«celebrity» didn’t show, why are you still charging a butt-load of money to get in? overall i had a good time for my friends’ birthdays, so this place gets 3 stars for that alone. the dance floor may not be huge but i felt like it was an acceptable amount of space for the crowd. mostly everyone was young and drunk, so that’s always fun(or scary). i didn’t drink but it was still fun dancing with friends and doing the robot every time a random guy tried to sneak attack me with his crotch from behind. boys just don’t know what to do when i start doing my robot dance.

i went on saturday and i’m soooo glad i saw my friends in the front of the line. on the promoters flyer it said that girls were free until 1030 and that the gueslist closed at 11 but they werent even letting people in. for what reason i dont know. i felt kinda bad for cutting because the people behind my friends were there for an hour and a half. i got in for free because it was my friend’s bday and i walked in with him, but if i hadn’t.i woulda had to pay 25MOTHEREFFING dollars. is that even legal for a club? if you ask me. it wasnt that tight inside anyway. music was alright… there definitelllllly were repeats of at least 3 songs. c’mon…lame! drinks tasted like water. i think that’s what pissed me off the most. a big plus for never having to wait in line for the ladies bathroom. parking sucks here, good luck

Tuesday nights are Industry Tuesdays: free all night, no dress code, hosted by DJ Romeo of Wild 94.9. Hit it up while you can, Industry Tuesdays usually shuts down for winter, and comes back around Spring Break.
