Great neighborhood bar with rotating dj’s and live bands. The bar itself is big and friendly, not sure if I’d like it on a very crowded night but that’s just me!

I have a friend who is obsessed with this place and always insists on coming here, so I finally checked it out. Cool place! Super chill venue, good for any type of evening from dancing to comedy. On that note, I really do need to come here more often because I just learned that there are comedy nights here! My friend just comes for the dancing. Bartenders are cool. Music is awesome. Came here with my boyfriend, and we enjoyed a beer at the bar before continuing on our date night. No complaints here. I could see why my friend has become a regular at Milk Bar!

Wow… okay. what can I say about a space that previously was held by Rockin’Robins in the olden days? yep.;still has that groovy olde timey vibe… but yet somehow if you are a woman on your own w no man or crew… you just might be hauled out of the ladies room for no particular reason. Hey. just sayin… I have been coming to this place for so many years. don’t know why the vibe changed towards single women, but I ain’t gonna be quiet about it! I had been coming to this lovely neighborhood venue for many years! So sad to say the staff has become on the fascist side… have no idea why! Just to give back ground here, I bought my New Years Eve ticket online, & was so excited about an All Soul R & B nite! Showed my ticket at the door! Lovely evening! That was the last time I went to Milk Bar… then. the other nite WTF??? Did they mistake me for someone else? NO staff member explained or said anything to me at all! Frankly, even given my experiences in this crazy city of ours, I was stunned & shocked, not to mention just a little bit scared… why wld some guy follow me into the ladies room? is there not a law against this? I believe legally that is called harrassment… especially since all i was doing was washing my hands… Just my experience!

I paid $ 5 to go to a Smith’s/ New-wave dance party at Milk Bar last month and feel pretty good about that decision. The space is like a club version of a dive bar. I don’t know that i’ve seen anything else like it. It’s got true dive bar shitty, graffitied bathrooms to prove it… but also white leather lounge seating in the front. It’s confusing. It’s San Francisco. They take cards and can accommodate a larger group of friends. There you have it: Milk Bar, everyone.

Love the Comedy Night on Tuesday — especially where eagles dare. SUPER fun — weird and free drinks if you participate(while not being a dick). The comics were funny and the weird take on the show was fun. There was a lot of yelling, interactive games, and occasionally a comic would have to finish their set without a shirt on. Does that count for anything? Well i certainly liked it either way.

Terrible service. Rude bartender. Awful seating. Feels like someone decided to randomly open up a business without proper planning or even attempt to try and find quality staff.

Great spot. I was surprised how big the bar area is. Plenty of space with a couple of booths and wide bar area. Staff was very good. Nice bartenders, quick and attentive. one negative was the pot smoke. Id rather smell cigs than weed. But a few folks were smoking pot before the comedians started their show and it was very annoying. take that s@$& outside, dude. I hope this place continues to support new comedians. nice resource for those honing new skills. This would be my home bar if I lived closer.

Small club, large bar is the best way to sum up this place. Though I’ve walked by many times this was the first time I found myself attending a show here. Friendly staff, good drinks, prices are as good as they get in that part of SF. Sound system is decent, though the stage is a little small. I had a good time and will desfinately check out another show there again!

This is perfect, semi-grimy dive bar to see your favorite local punk band jam out. I’ve been here twice. The bartenders on Thursday night were both awesome: super attentive and speedy in getting us our cocktails and beers post haste. The sound quality is pretty top-notch for such a tiny little stage. When seeing live music, it makes you feel like you could easily be in a venue that can hold at least a few hundred people. I don’t frequently hang out in the Haight, but The Milk Bar is a cozy little haunt that I might have to make a regular hangout, especially if my buddies play more shows here. Punk’s not dead, my friends.

I came here to watch a friend’s band on a Saturday night. This is absolutely a no-frills dive bar. I wouldn’t anything more than that. The bands were tight though. Pretty much your typical dive bar in the Haight!

Great venue. My band, Dinosaur Parade, played here and had a great time. Good crowd(Thursday night), good elevation of drinks, and the sound is great in there. They do comedy on Thursday nights. If say runs a little long but hey it’s a free night of comedy filled by great music. The staff are friendly and it’s in the cool lil haight ashbury neighborhood. Only weird thing, there is no door on the toilet in the men’s bathroom so is someone goes in while you’re reliving yourself of a nice poop, they’re going to see you doing so :)

Solid drink. Spacious. Found a spot at a booth –win!-. The sound is waay too loud, and we were about as far as you could get from the band.

I love going here and show up maybe three or four times a month. Some days are better than others, but I always have a pretty good time. There are frequently comedian stand up shows, sometimes open-mic style. I’ve caught a few really good acts. There are video games, the drinks are about average price, the shows are good, and the layout is comfy. I’ll keep going. The bartender Andrew is excellent at his job, though I don’t know what days he works.

Right behind wholefoods, quite a spacious open floor with tables along the wall. The bar stretches along the other side of the wall and looks big enough for 4 or 5 bar tenders. Beers are around $ 6. Came here for first Tuesday of the month, two minute comedy night. There were about 20 people there supporting the amateur comedians and the rest enjoying drinks and their company. Great group of bartenders, all very attentive and ready to serve you.

Why do we have to give at least one star? Milk should get none. Yet ANOTHER show I was looking forward to CANCELLED due to not wanting a «hip hop» crowd. Can someone explain to me what exactly that means? Yeah I’ll let you fill in the blanks. Maybe Milk needs to communicate better amongst their own people. Are some of you prejudice against hip hop(or should I say the people you assume comes with it) but others not? Maybe figure that out before you give hardworking, talented artists the go to promote your venue. Figure it out Milk, but quit wasting people’s time. If you have integrity, soul, or common sense this probably isn’t the spot for you.

Bartender was great – friendly but not chatty, and didn’t seem snobby. He even gave us free Moscow mules, which were perfectly made. I stick to straight liquor, but I do recommend the cider beer. $ 10 minimum for card, so bring cash if you’re not planning on drinking that much. We came for This Charming Band(Morrissey cover band). It’s $ 5 at the door if you’re on the list(RSVP online to get on the list). The event info said it would start at 9, but I would say the band didn’t take the stage until 11:30(and there was no opener or anything like that). Let’s just say we spent a lot of time people watching from the bar, lol. The age range seemed to skew around 30s+. Kind of old for us, but I honestly didn’t mind because everyone seemed to be having a good time. The band was great! I danced and sweated my butt off and had a great time.

The bar tender was friendly, they have live music, and parking was very easy that day. It’s an old building, so it has a broken in feel to it. And they’ve got tons of alcohol to choose from.

Your experience here will undoubtedly depend on the day of the week and whom you go with, but for a Wednesday night, this place was awesome. A few friends and I went to see my friend’s band Rio Rio perform, and if there was air conditioning, this would be the perfect place. Located on Haight Street, next to Whole Foods, we enjoyed the casual, friendly vibe. Drinks were moderately priced($ 6 for a beer) and the music was great. As you walk in there’s a large bar to the left and white booths to the right. In the back there’s a decently sized stage for live performances. We asked why they were called The Milk Bar, but it was just in reference to a band the owner used to play in. Aside from the fact that we went on one of the hottest days of the year and the AC wasn’t on, we had a great time hanging out and dancing to the live bands. We registered through Facebook(through Eventbrite) and got in for free. Cover is usually just $ 5. Would definitely go back for a fun evening.
