I don’t usually write Unilocal reviews, but this is the only place I take my car for repairs. Honest, quality, and fair service.

My car died while coming over the Bay Bridge to San Francisco. We pulled off at Folsom Street, and called AAA. Very quickly a tow truck came, and took my car to The Auto Service Center. It was Presidents Day, but they were open.
Brando, who greeted me was just delightful; very thorough and very professional in addition to being sensitive to my concerns. I felt very safe and felt that I would not be taken advantage of… and I sure wasn’t.
The service was done on time, at the price quoted, and I could not have been happier!!! Love this place and would suggest that you go here too…

I have taken my car here for years. They have great service, are reasonable, & very honest. They have been very helpful to me over the years & I appreciate their professionalism & their care on my vintage vehicle. They guarantee their works & do good work. I don’t normally like leaving reviews for companies but I need to for this one.
ASC/​Brando is one of the most honest and genuine people I have met in my life.
Long story short — my car was taken to ASC by AAA and even though Brando could have charged me whatever he would have liked — he did the maintenance and repair that was required for a fair price.
Another thing — I TOLD him I needed new breaks and after he sent his team to check them out, he said «I would love to charge you for new new breaks, but you don’t need them»
Do yourself a favor and take your car here first, you will not be disappointed.
Even though it stinks (literally) to pay for car maintenance, I can’t wait to come back to ASC.

I’ve been coming here since 2006. I have two Diesel vehicles and they have helped me miltiple times with big jobs and small. Recently they replaced my Injection Pump in my Suburban and fixed my brakes and suspension in my Mercedes G-​Wagen. AAA member so you get a discount. Unlike other shops they have never turned me away for a repair. They do it all. I refer this place to my friends too.

The staff here is amazing. You can count on them to give you honest advice on what your car actually needs. Their pricing is affordable and I highly recommend them.

I live in Oakland but when my car died in the city I decided to use a nearby repair shop. Boy did i get lucky. Brando runs his shop with pride and integrity. fixed my car in 1 day. Didn’t overcharge me. I will use him again next time i have a issue.

My car broke down in the city. The towing service recommended that I leave my car with this business. Well the business doesn’t look like much on the outside. The car was inspected the next working day and I was given the best case /​worse case news. I already had an idea what the problem was since I changed the T-​belt myself weeks earlier. The car was done before the end of the day.

Everyone here is great. They worked hard finding me replacement parts at a good price when I haven’t had time to order/​find them myself (I have a 1983 Chevy G20 diesel, so it’s not the easiest van to find certain parts for sometimes).
Their garage is always full of cars, but their turnaround has always been really quick.
Recently I had my van stolen and the radiator was stolen (!!). They really went out of their way to find me a replacement (the online ones that claimed would fit, did not in fact fit my van’s set up. We tried. Even
couldn’t help me). In any case we eventually had one built, but they were extremely cool while my pain-​in-​the-​ass old van was taking up space in their garage not making them any more money.
I was recommended to them from my friend, and I in turned have recommended them to a couple others.
Oh, and the main reason for my review– when I got my van back it was running better than it was before. No longer shaking when going really slow, and the wheels don’t squeal when turning too far anymore. Not sure what tweaks they did, but it’s pretty sweet.

I had a car that completely stalled in the middle of the road in downtown SF during rush hour traffic! After calling the Automotive Service Center at a friend’s advice, Brando came immediately to tow my car to his business and proceeded to work on my car right away. He was really helpful and friendly, and made the whole process of diagnosing and fixing the problem very easy. The mechanics who work there are all knowlegeable, the price was reasonable, and my car has since not had any further problems. I would recommend this place to all my friends, and anyone looking for an honest, friendly, and capable automotive repair center.

I’ve had 2 things worked on here. Service is good and timely. Refurbishing a VW Cab Convertible which turned out great with replaced electrical wiring and new seats. And another job for my Subaru WRX which out to be more high quality work. I’d go here again for sure.

I cannot rave enough about this place. Several times I’ve had to drop in without warning the past 12 months and they were not only frinedly and accomodating, they suggested options to save me money. My car was always ready when promised. When the warranty on my car was over, it was a comfort to know I had a place in The City I could trust.

I have been visiting The Auto Service center for a very long time… They have always done and excellent job. The men who work on the vehicles are just as engaged in their work as Nate the front man, and Brando, the owner are… They do a great AAA discount and will help you with the smallest of problems to complete engine overhaul. There is no where else in the city that I feel as comfortable dropping off my car for any amount of work at very reasonable prices. I also know that they are in the business of dealing with all diesel and biodiesel vehicles as well as other older and newer cars of all types… I have suggested them before and it is only because I learned to trust them. They earned it.

I had quite the opposite experience as the previous reviewer.
My car’s starting problem, which had stumped another shop completely, was fixed in no time. They also replaced the fan belt, and although the total cost was more than expected, I left with a good feeling and a well-​running car.
Oh, and there is a AAA member discount.
