Wow. I’d never had such bad Indian food. We ordered 5 plates of food, and they were all sour milk flavored. 3 of us ate this garbage and agreed. The story is long, and I won’t write it today, but after we offered to pay for 1⁄3rd of the meal we sent back, the managed started yelling at us in front of his other customers. He then kicked us out and told us not to pay. Thinking it was over, we walked down the street to our car. Amazingly, this chest-hair-exposed greasy restaurant manager came running down the street towards us. As my girlfriend pulled out her pepper spray, he came up to us yelling«OKOKOK. Pay me $ 20». What a piece of shit place. Anybody who gives this place more than ONE star should be immediately disqualified from reviewing food. DONOTEATHERE.

So sad, this was my favorite Indian establishment in the city! The owners were also super nice and actually remembered the last few times I came in. I actually found out that they were closed the hard way. As I frolicked closer to the restaurant I was soon met with despair. — Closed — I sincerely hope they reopen soon. Now, because Tasty Curry is closed, I have to go eat at other sub-par Indian restaurants. This injustice needs to stop!

Tasty curry was tasty, but no more. After 6 years it’s CLOSED. They say they’re looking for a new location. TC was cheap but quality and service was not consistent, so Unilocalers bombarded it with many bad reviews. Perhaps this year’s opening of Curry Village, who also offers a cheap menu across the street(plus currently a 15% discount), hastened its demise.

Tasty Curry was one of my favorites when it was still in business. The people were very, very nice. The food was very cheap, and it was very good. Lovely all around. Those people complaining about getting stomach aches need to shut up, not Tasty Curry’s fault your stomach isn’t acclimated to eating Indian food. When I tried to go there the other night my heart sunk when I saw it looked like it closed. When I got some food at Curry Village(real good, review forthcoming) I spoke to them about it and the woman told me the guy had become a taxi… However! I checked their website( ) and it says a new location will be announced soon. YES! — UPDATE: They now have a new restaurant in Sausalito, see . I haven’t’ been yet, but will try to go ASAP!

I seem to be eating a lot of Indian lately! In comparison to the other places I’ve tried(i.e. Little Delhi!) Tasty Curry is not so tasty. More like painful curry because I got a fat stomach ache an hour or so after eating here. Also, I like my naan soft and fluffy and the naan I had here was more on the hard and dry side(I got the regular naan). Chai tea was not too good either. It didn’t have that spiciness that makes chai so delicious. Tasted more like warm milk. Needless to say I was a little disappointed. Boo! On a positive note, portions are quite large and prices are quite cheap. But then again, I don’t see why I’d want a large portion of food that falls short of being tasty. The flavors of the food here just didn’t have the boldness or fullness of other Indian places I’ve eaten at. And feeling sick shortly after eating here certainly does not help its cause. Service was super friendly though. So, Kudos for that! If only the food was on par with the service. I guess you can’t have everything.

Came here last night with a good friend of mine and came home with diarrhea a few hours after. The owners and workers of this place are friendly, so that is why they get one star. Other than that, I was not impressed with their food. My friend and I ordered naan(I ordered the onion/cheese), chicken palak, and chicken tikka masala. Perhaps I’ve been spoiled having lived in New York and having had excellent Indian food in Murray Hill(hence, I have high standards when it comes to Indian food), but the dishes we got were bland and simply luckluster. The chicken tikka masala tasted like weakly spiced cream, and the chicken was simply really dry and tough. The chicken palak tasted like blended spinach drenched in oil. The naans were ok– a little on the dry side, but we managed to eat them. Chai is on the house, but it too is bland. Usually when I go to Indian restaurants, I like to fill up on the spiced goodness of chai tea, but I couldn’t stand the lack of «kick» in the chai, so I only beared to have one cup. Service was a little spotty as well. Our chicken tikka masala and chicken palak came out before our naans, so our hot entrees got cold before we could even eat them. At most Indian restaurants, the entrees and naans come out at the same time or around the same time — but it seriously took like 5 minutes to get our naan… so we were left with eating our(bland) food COLD. That made the experience even further disappointing! When we got our bill, the bill wasn’t itemized(just a total amount listed). The amount was HIGHER than what I had calculated(just adding the items we got + 9.5% tax) by about a dollar… so I think they might have tacked on some health tax or something like that. without even telling us. That’s really shady, and I don’t appreciate being UNINFORMED about what«extra charges» were being tacked on. Later that night, I got diarrhea from the food, and my friend had stomach cramps… I have a feeling that it was from the food… it definitely wasn’t tasty at all… and in my books, was outright distasteful. I don’t think I will come here again nor will I recommend others to come here. Even though the service was good, I don’t think that’s enough to win me over to come back here again. I don’t think I can stand another bout of the«runs» here.

This place is without peer. The quality and flavor of their food exceeds any other Indian restaurant I’ve eaten from by far. Better yet, their prices cannot be beaten. Their veggie curries range from $ 5 to $ 7, while most places sell the same variations at $ 9 to $ 10 without even half the flavor. And, if your order is over $ 25 you get an additional curry for free. The guy who delivers is exceptionally friendly and even shares his recipes on YouTube. The only con to this place is that they only deliver after 5PM, otherwise I would be ordering from here much more frequently and they’d probably be putting other Indian restaurants out of business.

We tried this place while visiting San Francisco. We went for lunch buffet. Outside board said more than 15 entrees(including pokora). When we went in, we saw no pokora. It included only one chicken item(chicken karahi) and 3 or 4 vegetarian items. And rest of items out of 15 entrees are water melon, grapes, honey dew melon etc. No indian dessert too. Very disappointing. The food taste was also not that great. we tried to get the 15% off of Unilocaler and they refused to give us one too. I would not recommend this place at all.

Yum! Great food. I tried several dishes here and they were all good. The owner was very friendly, and even brought me a complimentary mango lassi.

What an ironical name considering that the food is ANYTHINGBUT! The food I’d ordered was so greasy that I had to drain the oil floating on top before considering eating it. The Naan looked like it was used to wipe the counter tops, and their mango lassi had so much artificial flavoring that it was orange. Also, our bill came out to about $ 5 more than I’d calculated, and as the delivery guy didn’t have an itemized receipt, he could hardly explain the difference. Overall, very dodgy restaurant that serves up one of the worse meals I’ve ever had.

This place does not even deserve one star because of the poor service and food. I went with my date to get a late-night dinner there. We ordered the dishes and asked for them to be mild. I emphasized(politely) that I really meant mild. The dishes came back extremely hot, hotter than any time I could remember ordering Indian food. It was a joke. We took one bite and looked at each other thinking there is no way we can eat this. We had ordered dahl, and there were about 8 chilies floating in this shallow plate of dahl. I’m not exaggerating. The waitress was sitting at the other end of the room talking to some patrons, whom I guess she knew. I raised my hand to get her attention and instead of coming over, she looked at me, I guess to say, what do you want? I guess it was too much of a bother for her to come over and I don’t know, do her job. So I had to talk to her from across the room and tell her that the food was way too hot for us and that I had tried to warn her. So she said what do you want to do about it? Wow. I said I don’t know, I can’t eat this. So she went to the back to get some yogurt. My date and I talked about it and decided that the yogurt was not going to help. So when she came back, we told her this and said that we can’t eat this food. I said do you really expect us to pay for this?(We had had a bite of each dish just to see if there was anything we could eat.) So she went to check with the owner, who then brought the bill out and acted like nothing was wrong, didn’t acknowledge anything, and just asked us if we wanted a box. So we explained again and he kept saying it’s Indian food, that’s the way it is and kept acting as if we were morons. Anyone who has had Indian food knows that’s not true. It doesn’t by default mean that it’s unbearably spicy. Plus, if you really can’t make it mild, you should say so instead of wasting my time and taking my money and subjecting me to rude treatment by you and your waitress. Since we could not eat the food and they were not going to fix it for us, we decided to leave. So he took one dish off the bill and we paid for the other two dishes plus the roti and the rice. Gee, thanks.

I am vegetarian so I can only vouch for the daal, paneer masala, and veggie dishes from the buffet. What I can say is that they are DELICIOUS and if you’re not impressed with the buffet, try again and order fresh. You won’t be disappointed. Everything livens up when it’s fresh: the veggies become more firm, the paneer softer, the naan chewier, the curry less oily . Although we used to be regulars here, the last time we went the service was off… but good news. i hear they have delivery!

The quality of the all-you-can-eat buffet matched the price: low. We ate there on a Wednesday at 1 and should have been alerted by the dark and empty restaurant. While the food was flavorful for the most part, and the green bean dish was actually quite spicy and good, much of it was cold, and all had a thick slick of oil resting on top. Some dishes had even sat long enough to develop their own skin. We also ordered a rice pudding that was«on the house.» It was alarmingly beige, studded with dried fruit and drizzled with what looked like stage blood but was actually a strawberry sauce. One nibble was plenty. The naan, on the other hand, was soft, chewy and plentiful. Still, I left hungry.

Well what do you want to know about first? The terrible service or the flavorless turd they attempt to pass off as food? I can’t believe more reviews haven’t mentioned the service. Holy Shi’ite, the service is bad. There was only one guy working there at the time(probably the owner), and he must absolutely hate life because I think I can safely say that he was the rudest restaurant worker I’ve ever encountered. It was almost as if he didn’t want business. First off, it took him several minutes to even acknowledge us(he was not busy with anyone else). Then he puts a water pitcher on our table and walks away. The coup de grace was probably when he walked off in the middle of our order. I kid you not. He literally spun around and walked away part way through us telling him our order. He never checked on us during the meal(of course), and then when we asked for a takeout bag, he put the bag on our food! Just plopped it on the food, I sh*t you not. Now the food I won’t even justify with a thorough analysis. I feel as if the name Tasty Curry is some bizarre Orwellian inversion because tasty is in fact the last adjective you would reach for in describing this place. It was complete lackluster crap with very little effort put into it. And the proportions, as others mentioned, are pathetic. I ordered the Bindhi Masala(okra) and my friend got the Chicken Tikka Masala. His portion consisted of a plate of sauce with literally 4 small chunks of chicken in the middle. Now here’s the really weird thing that just drives my point home. During our meal two different groups of people came in, sat down and then abruptly got up and left after a brief conversation with this server/owner. He literally drove away two different parties over the course of 10 minutes. I didn’t quite catch what was said but this douche clearly rubs most people the wrong way. Just stay away from this place. It’s cheap, flavorless, and the service will infuriate you.

Originally my brother and I were going to another restaurant on Irving, but their«Lunch buffet $ 7.99» sign caught our attention. We decided to give it a try. I’ve been here before, but have never tried the lunch buffet. I give it a two stars because I’ve tried better indian buffets. Well, you can’t go wrong with the price because $ 8 is a great deal. The quality was ok, the selection was good, and the service was ok. I don’t recall the exact names of the dishes, but for the most part it consisted of vegetable, fish, beef, and chicken curries. The basmati rice was ok, I’ve tried better. The nann was nice and fresh. I enjoyed the selection of fruit for dessert. That was good! I haven’t had papayas in awhile so it was great to end the meal in a good note! Would i come again? Maybe. My favorite indian buffet still stands as the one down the street on Judah –Golden Gate Pizza.

My parents and i decided to try this place out for lunch. The restaurant itself is not that big but the mirrors make it look a lot larger. It is pretty dim inside and they have a large mural on the wall. I thought the food was alright. My parents thought it was really good though. I grew up with my grandma cooking me indian food my whole life so i might be biased. I was disappointed that they were out of roti since the naan is not vegan. I had to eat my food with rice which was okay but i like roti better. Many of their vegetarian dishes are vegan but you have to ask which ones they are because they are not labeled on the menu. We ordered: –Daal Masala — Lentil cooked with Sindhi Sauces — $ 4.99 –Aloo Mater — Potatoes cooked with peas and Sindhi Sauces — $ 5.99 –Bhindi Masala — Okra cooked with Sindhi Sauces — $ 5.99 –Rice(since they were out of roti) –My parents had 2 Naan(not vegan) — $ 1 each –They offer FREE chai tea that you can refill as you like(not vegan) I didn’t find anything about this restaurant special. I thought the food was alright. The lady that served us was nice and offered roti on the house next time i come in. If you are in the area and you are in desperate need of indian food then it’s safe to try this place. =)

The joint was average like a mom and pop divey Indian /Pakistani eatery. However, the service and attitude was great. Greeted by a kind host, a nod by the chef in front, and smiles from our server(who I suspect was the owner). The chicken tikka masala(of course) was very Paqwan Restaurant like. Thick, but not stomachache creamy. It wasn’t super spicy, if at all. But it had huge chunks of chicken and a very complex sauce. The daal palak was nice and authentic — a little liquidity but very nice. Chicken korma was very good. Hot and hearty. Like a real nice stew. Chicken was stewed long to be firm yet fall off the bone. The mali botte(boti?) was pretty off the hook. Tandoori style but non-spicy. Well very seasoned and you almost wanted to order another one right then and there. It was tender — as it was steamed but it wasn’t. This is a must order — it was on the ‘specials’ under the table glass. Again, the charming staff was very nice — I’m used to rude busboy/waiter/chef/janitor guy. Yeah, the guy who handles your money and also brings your food. So it was nice to see smiles and true service. Very classy. The place itself is OK — the Kenny Roger Roaster red neon lighting inside hurts the retina, but after your eyes get used it, you’re good. It’s not super duper clean, but it’s definitely a pass. They offer free Indian tea, so that’s nice — but like most places, you have to get your own water and beverages. One last note — the naan in here rocks. It’s a little different than other places in that it’s actually not that oily, it’s very puffy but light, and they come out pipin’ hot. Just the way it was intended.

Another Inner Sunset restaurant that suffers from Yummy Yummy syndrome. That’s when a small restaurant opens and has excellent food at incredibly cheap prices. Then, slowly, the prices rise as the quality of food drops off. The food here is subpar now. The one upside is that the servings are also smaller, so at least you aren’t served excessive amounts of subpar food. Just about the time you discover that the food isn’t good, you’re done! No awkward: «You want that to go?» exchange required.

So I came here without any expectations, as the Unilocal reviews are all pretty mixed. There’s a gorgeous mural on the inside depicting indian/middle eastern settings. The place is bright and fun, and you can see them cooking in the front window. All the prices are very reasonable. For two big eaters hungering for dinner, we ordered chicken tikki masala, 2 kinds of naan(including yummy one with beef inside), pakoras(which they made special for us — not on the menu), 2 orders of plain rice, and water. It was delicious and only came to 19 something. I know previous reviewers claimed horrible/no service, but I received EXCELLENT service. The guy waited on us and gave us our water, dishes, plates, and food. The menu is right under the glass on the table — convenient. The only reason for four stars rather than 5 is the bathroom — it was dirty and lacking paper towels or toilet seat covers. Gross. But this place takes my heart and will replace my naan n curry runs(which I stopped because of the 40-ish health review — they received a 94 here). Good stuff.

Good place. Don’t expect to be served, but also expect good food and cheap prices. My girlfriends and I went there tonight for dinner, on the way we picked up bottle of Savingion Blanc and ordered too much food! I liked the lamb and prawns. Naan was warm and smelled soo good! Wine, food and 20% tip — $ 60 total for 3 person dinner.
