The Summersalt Festival was last Saturday which was purposely scheduled to coincide with Fleet Week. Since it was the first time for this music festival, some things went well and some could’ve been better. Festival layout: Awkward space in the walk area surrounding the Festival Pavilion and Herbst Pavilion. Crowded. Hard to navigate. Drink prices: Pricey! Can of soda = $ 3. Small cocktail = $ 5. Pint of beer = $ 7. Most people got the 20oz can of Coors Light. Music: 2 stages. Good variety of music: old school hip hop, rap, house, trance. Performers: Bathrooms: Inside the pavilions. Not porta potties! Thank goodness! Food: Partnered with Off the Grid. Iz It, Southern Sandwiches, Curry Up Now, Sam’s Chowdermobile, Kara’s Cupcakes. Communal tables to sit and eat. Crowd: Half-naked, baked and drunk young adults. There were kinks and the festival was unorganized. But I had fun. I danced. I people watched. And the Zion I performance was awesome!
