On Sunday I ordered a subway sandwich from the Castro subway in San Francisco. I ordered a foot long honey oat with grilled chicken and provolone. Toppings were: spinach, tomatoes, salt and pepper, sweet onion sauce, and light chipotle sauce. I went home retoasted the sandwich and ate it for dinner. At 3 am I woke up because I had to vomit. I spent the whole night/early morning going back and forth to the toilet because I was sick. Finally Monday around 1 pm the vomittong had seized. But my stomach still felt extremely uneasy and I was still quite queasy. I had to miss a day of work because I had clearly gotten food poisoning from the sub. I am extremely disappointed with their food handling. Eat fresh… I think not. Also, it’s February and I’ve seen so many commercials advertising 6 $ subs for all subs this month. It’s not true for this location. Complete bummer.

Good food for cheap in the Castro. Good for before the bars.

I’m nice in giving it three stars bc it probably deserves less. Walk in one person busy making a large order after five minutes of waiting with two other customers another employee appears and takes my order as my order is being toasted she helps with the larger order instead of taking the next person order. That person leaves without ordering. Way da go taking care of the customer. My order complete a sub thrown together and falling apart. It’s places in a bag for me with out them asking if I’m staying or going. I was planning on staying and I did at least sub tasted ok. I had worse experiences and worst tasting subs.

I find myself at this subway because they are open longer then most restaurants in the area and are cheaper. They have the standard subway menu that we all know and they have the same specials which is kind of surprising in the area. Being tiny there are no tables inside just a tight counter and soda fountain. Subway food is not overly memorable but it tends to be healthy for fast food. The space is clean and staff busy but pleasant. If they get busy there can be a bit of a wait, they are so small there is only room for one person so… hope no one in front of you is a talker or has a problem. Usually the line moves well. And the prices? 6 dollars for a 6 inch tuna, chips and drink. I may not be a fan, but I usually eat there at least once when I am in town.

I dunno how I managed to come in and spend 10 $ on bloody sandwiches with a bag of crisps & a fountain drink. The food was tasteless & the veg & bread didnt even taste freshly made. This Subway is far more expensive than the others or your average Subways & there is no seating its just a takeaways shop. The staff that were working here were incredibly thick, I nearly had to shout at them, they looked bleedin miserable & I all around had an extremely poor experience here, I’ll never be back. I only stopped in anyway cos I received a 10 $ Gift Card but it was more of a burden than a Gift!

Make sure to double check your sandwiches!!! The Lady working here had the worst attitude and customer service ever! She would yell at her other co worker to do things in an upset tone. When it wasn’t even busy I was the only customer present. When I asked for cookies she was grabbing the trays so hard and loud like mad because I wanted cookies included. They tasted so stale, this was on a Thursday at 5pm I hope their service and freshness improve soon. Will not return to this location she messed up my sandwich and added ingredients I said not to add and too take it and she assured me it was correct. Got on the freeway and turns out she lied. Its not that hard to make 2… 6 inch sandwiches.

Not sure what happened here. This place is on the corner of market and Castro. A very busy spot. Yet they only have one person working the sandwich making and register. Even when there is a line of 4+. The manager came out looked and went back to the back. So I walked out after waiting 10 minutes for the employee to help one person. Then finally get to the guy 2 people on front of me. The sad part is I work in the neighborhood. And it was a place I frequented daily. Bad management.

Wow. This is the worst subway I have ever been to and if I could give less than one start I would. Every time I’ve tired this place out it’s as though the staff is so inconvenienced that they have to make you a sandwich. They will continue their conversation with each other while you’re ordering so that you have to repeat yourself over and over. I’m never going back here and neither should anyone else

Don’t know why the low reviews. It’s tiny but that’s to be expected in the city. The dudes working there were typical Subway dudes, nice enough. We were in and out and it tasted… like Subway. But just read this today. Yoga mat foam ingredients in the bread? Eat fresh indeed. Now warrior pose, tuna melt… warrior pose.

Remember the rule kids. The filth they show is isn’t half as bad as the filth they hide behind the counter and in back. The front of this place is always trashed. They set up outdoor tables on top of the trash.

I guess for $ 5 dollars you get a sloppy sandwich made from this Subway Restaurant in the Castro my sandwich is well not great next time I will go to the one in the Financial District.

I personally, receive good service here. Once in awhile though the service drops and it can take a minute to get my food. It’s Subway, so you pretty much know what you’re getting.

Been coming to this store for more than 10 years, and lately the service has hit new lows. How hard can it be to do what customers ask? Why ask if you’re not gonna make a sandwich as the customer wants it?

This is the first Subway location that began and triggered my FORMER subway addiction before I was introduced to the much better tasting world of Quizno’s! Anyway for a good period of time as I was living in Castro just about 3 blocks away I’d come here to order my footling meatball and tuna sandwich. I’m completely honest here. 95 out of the 100 times I’ve ordered here they were always OUTOFAVOCADO!!! I’m talking 11am before even lunch started and they were already out… I have an obsession with avocado and it’s pretty much the whole reason why I feed myself in the first place… It became so frustrating I had to drive another mile to the mission and 11th location so I could get my avocado! It is unbelievable and a shame because service otherwise especially since they renovated the place it is very customer oriented and well trained… The location couldn’t me more clever as it is next to café and ready to feed hundreds of hungry drunken queens… So I ask myself… How hard can it be ?? ORDERMOREDAMNAVOCADOANDKEEPITINSTOCK! P. S. Also extend your hours… You’re next to a bar for crying out loud. Stay open till 3AM and you’ll see how 90% of the revenue you will make will come from the business you get from the drunken gays walking(stumbling) from next door!

FYI: The listed building address is correct, but the location is not«between 16th St & Noe St». From the Castro MUNI station and the big rainbow flag, it’s across Castro Street and just past the gas station. It is TINY inside. The space is about 1 ½ x my smallish walk-in closet, but instead of a bunch of hoodies, plaid, and t-shirts, there are potato chip bags, soda dispensers, and sandwich ingredients. I’m just third in line and I’m out on the sidewalk. The other option is for the line to block the register and bend in front of the sodas, which would only make room for about 5 more people and make paying elbowy. The workers are nevertheless cheerful. I’m greeted when my turn comes up, and my sandwich building goes without any speed bumps. They have the $ 3 breakfast combo option, which is cheaper than getting just a sandwich. There are no signs for 90-second pizzas though, which I think they ought to have since there’s only about 90-seconds of space in here. Insider info: Tell them«salamat» at the end.

This subway is small but good for an after workout meal since it’s close to the Golds. It’s subway, what else can I say.

My partner ha a hankering for a Black Forest ham sandwich and because Subway is offering two foot-long sandwiches for $ 5 a piece, I agreed to go. Service was fast and friendly and my partner was very happy with his sandwich. I had a cold-cut sandwich, which was perfectly fine. I saved half for lunch. All in all, not a bad place for a decent, inexpensive sandwich. I’ve had much better sandwiches, but not for this price.

This Subway is all about the location. For someone that lives in the Twin Peaks where like Zeus, you have to come off your moutain to enjoy anything besides the view. This Subway is all about taking it ago. They have a few seats outside, but really its after you get off the light-rail you will swing by to grab a footlong and catch the 37 before going back up into the clouds.

I was the only one there at 9:30am on Sunday. Hence, I got served pretty damn fast. Got a BLT to go. The meat tasted funny. Saved half for later but ended up tossing it. Might go back again because it’s so cheap. maybe I’ll get the Meatball Marinara next time to be safe.

For cheap and(relatively) healthy eats, you can’t beat the Subay $ 5 footlong. Probably the smallest subway I’ve ever been to, this location packs all of your favorite subway sandwhiches into a compact space. Nothing amazing about this particular location. There’s a couple of tables outside for dining in the sun, but as far as the interior, there’s just enough space for a couple of people to order their sandwhiches, pay, turn around and leave. At least it’s all brand new. :)
