St. Paul of the Shipwreck

The name of the place really caught my eyes so I had to check it out plus I was close by.
The people here are very welcoming.
There were a lot of people here an yet made a point of making me feel welcome.
I like the service hours, they are very easy to do.
The choir is amazing here.
Everyone seems so nice here.
I can tell by the people that they must really have a great community here.

St. Paul of the Shipwreck is the best church out there. The choir is the best in the city (yes my husband and I have been to every Catholic church in San Francisco & Marin. St. Paul IS way better then Glide and St. Dominics) The sense of community, humanity and joy of this church feeds my soul for another week like nothing else can.
This place is a San Francisco gem, and on my Unilocal list for Best of the Bay.
p. s. When Ira plays the organ — all is right in the world, and Doreen is the most amazing spirit filled choir director ever.

St. Paul of the Shipwreck Church. If you would like to feel absolutely blessed and loved, then attend the 10:30 am Mass held at this Church every Sunday. The warm welcome, the readings, Father Paul’s down-​to-​earth and relevant homilies, and the most joyous and moving choir you will every experience are all anyone needs to feel close to God. I was born and raised Catholic, moved to San Francisco from the East Coast, had been away from the Church (but continued my spiritual journey) for years, and searched for and attended several Catholic Churches in the city until I found St. Paul of the Shipwreck. Wow! If you’re looking for a new Church, to reconnect after a long absence, or just want to feel absolutely blessed, then this is the Church for you.

well, the gospel was nice and I thought that the people was friendly too until I realized that someone from the community stoled all my cash from my wallet during the service! It was a lot of money and all what I had for the next weeks. I think it is unacceptable to steel in a Church!
I will never go back and want to tell to the reverent who asked if we feel safe? What would you answer if you can not be safe even in a Church!

totally agree with miss. r’s review. this church and its parishioners are so welcoming!!! the gospel choir is amazing. this church is so full of life and love. very interactive and participative and i feel like truly helps individuals build their individual relationship to jesus and the lord.
this church has a multicolored jesus christ hanging at the alter (only 2 churches from what we were told have this type of jesus) to symbolize the many types of cultures and people who worship jesus. love it!
they truly welcome all visitors and they even give you a pin as a thank you and as a remembrance of faith, love, and hope.
i live about 25 miles from this church but i hope i can make the time and have more opportunities to worship here.

I love this church! Very welcoming, and they make you feel like your a part of their family from the very first day you go. I go to the 10:30 gospel mass on Sunday’s and I never realized that it can be 2 hours long, but that’s because it’s not like your typical mass, the preist really knows how to keep you interested in the lecture, and the choir is just amazing, definitely great music. I feel at home with this church, and I’m so happy to have found a church where the environment is welcoming, and very spiritual… I was never the type to enjoy going to church but St. Paul has changed that and I am so thankful for them.

This is the most welcoming, lively Catholic church — it’s on par with Glide Memorial in terms of energizing. Their Sunday Gospel mass at 10:30pm is amazing. They will have you holding hands, hugging, singing, clapping and dancing — and it’s almost two hours and well worth it. The church community works with the city for social justice reform for their neighborhood community as well. It’s too far for me to go every Sunday, but I highly encourage anyone to make this community their home.
