Shew Kee isn’t here anymores. in the olde days of the ’70’s, they were amongst a few business that imported goods from hong kong. same good were distributed to other groceries, and nearby restaurants. Shew Kee looked like a small store but most of it’s inventory was in the basement, probably carried down by manual labor or by using shunts to slide the goods down. Skew Kee was a favorite place to pick up preserved plum(chan pei mui), salted plum, and candied coconut. mom liked to pick up dried bean curd, dried oysters, and various canned items and condiment. in the olde days, oaktown didn’t have many such businesses.
