Yuck. Soups are very salty, and the taste is mediocre.

Gluten free, soy free and dairy free options! Vegetarian soups also. I was so glad to happen on this place on a cold windy day. I loved that you could try whatever you wanted to. The place looked crazy cause the line was kinda long but it moved very quickly as they have a good system set up. I got the smoky split pea and it was so good. Also tried the turkey chili… super yummy too!

This location has converted to a Ladle and Leaf, which is SFSC’s latest concept. The food and staff are excellent. The«upgrade» to this location was probably unnecessary, however. Adding salvaged wood to your dining space really doesn’t seem like a really inspired design solution unless you are in North Dakota. I miss the purity and authenticity of the SFSC, but mostly I miss the man who ran this store. He was a gem.

stopped by this place on a whim– tried the roasted chicken soup– it was pretty good, just a little too much lime for my tastes. The regular size is a big portion too– don’t let the size fool you! I will certainly be back to try some others!

I really love their Chicken tortilla soup, and had to bring my mom in to try it out. she had a Regular size and I had the Large Soup…½ a sandwich with a small salad. everything was good no complaints. The line was pretty long but it moved fairly quick. You do have to watch out that they don’t over charge you, I only noticed I had been charged for 2 large soups, and a large salad after I was back sitting on my desk. Elizabeth F. the cash register needs to be more careful when charging so keep an eye out I ended up paying around 27 bucks for lunch. I was so irritated!

The only soup I really like here is the creole crab and corn chowder. It’s really good on a gloomy day like today. I have yet to try their lobster bisque. The other two soups I used to get pretty often are grandma mary’s chicken noodle and the tomato bisque. I had the tomato bisque recently again and it didn’t taste as good as it used to. Maybe it’s just that my tastebuds have changed. I will only get the grandma mary’s chicken noodle if I’m not feeling well. Their sourdough bread is really good. I don’t care for their sandwiches.

Great place for a satisfying, healthy lunch. And who wouldn’t want a bowl of warming soup on a cold San Francisco day?

Very standard soup, but they have a lot of decent salads and small sandwiches.

I came here after a job interview to eat lunch with my boyfriend who works down the street from this place. I ordered the beet and kale detox soup and he the turkey chili. An order of soup also comes with a piece of sourdough bread or a wheat dinner roll. There were a lot of choices and they even let you sample anything youd like. The menu also has sandwiches and a few other small items. My soup was okay. There wasnt enough broth and I didnt know there were carrots in my soup so I had to pick it all out. I wish I got the butternut squash soup instead. I ordered a regular size and boyfriend got a large but we both didnt finish! The cups are huge so maybe you could consider sizing down, esp with the bread. The place was nice and toasty, a good getaway from the city breeze. Overall it was okay 2 stars for my own soup but 3 stars because I want to give it a second chance some time to try a different soup!

I like what they have to offer, sometimes It is nice to get a hot bowl of soup on my lunch break. The soup is good but nothing to rave about. You can get a pre made salad or small sandwich for a couple extra bucks with meal deal. They also offer a breakfast menu now. But no soup in the morning. I just feel that spending $ 6 on a regular cup of soup is a bit much. It is easy to find more bang for your buck in the FIDI. All in all they get you in and out quick and this spot has a fair amount of seating.

Never again will I come here. The food is not bad but i cant justify paying $ 8 for a bowl of soup, and Im not cheap, i just get irritated after each time I come here. When I first started coming here back in ’05 ish, the prices were lower, but they have increased drastically over the years. Is it really fresh? LOL, you can decide that for yourself Also, another place where I do not agree paying for an SF Healthy surcharge, once again, i dont believe that we should be funding your healthcare in the form of a soup purchase or a tax payment for that matter. Oh, and and i found a maggot in my turkey chili once… yummy protein…

My favorite go-to lunch spot! I’ve overlooked this place for so long even when I worked in mall with a soup company part of their food court. I seriously come here about 2 – 3 times a week. Is that bad? And I always check what their soups of the day are. They have it listed on their website– I know I’m a soup junkie haha. So my favorites and pretty much the only ones I ever get are: Creole Crab and Corn, Shrimp Etoufee, and Lobster Bisque. On occasion, I will get their Clam Chowder. So they usually only have these soups at the beginning and end of the week. So when I see it on their website I make sure I head over there before 12:30 pm because they usually sell out by 1 pm. They also give you a hunk of sourdough or wheat bread along with your soup. It’s seriously the best combo ever. LOVE this place.

They can take my money any day! Their truck comes twice a week near my work and me and the coworkers LOVE it — though we’ve often hoofed it all the way to the actual restaurant. Just wish it was actually open more hours, but it’s the FiDi, so I get why it closes early. Delicious soups and sourdough to die for! The sandwiches are pretty«eh» though, small and not that tasty, but the soup makes up for it.

I come here a lot but it’s days like today that make me want to get lunch elsewhere. I got the chicken, summer squash and lime soup and it was literally all broth with two small pieces of chicken floating around in it. How is that suppose to keep me full for the next few hours? So, you basically gave me water for lunch? Cool. Thanks. I can’t believe I spent $ 6 on that.

Had the tomato bisque soup and it was pretty standard. Needed a touch of salt but wasn’t completely horrible. I also had one of the already prepped small side salads and it was ok, too. I wouldn’t say it was worth the $ 9+ I paid for them, that’s for sure.

They no longer serve mac and cheese… so the chili is now irrelevant and all hope for the future is lost. Sure, I got it once a month, and the Tikka soup the rest of the time, that isn’t the point… The point is that I miss the mac and cheese option, so I no longer go. Market it as an option in the chili and tomato soup, don’t just kill the option. Do research, ask your customers…

Soup quality– okay Price– a little pricey Service– good If any of the Phở places or you are just feeling lazy to line up for good soup, this is an okay stop for soup. The soup quality is good but the flavors are just so– so. Probably will go back here for convenience rather than quality of soup.

My go to lunch spot in FiDi Quick and friendly service — many of the soups are super tasty. I swear the main guy fancies himself the Friendly Soup Nazi. + Try samples to weed out the possibility of the unhappy-soup-purchase + Get the sourdough bread. Wheat roll is ok but sourdough is worth the extra refined carbs + Can add toppings to your soup like cilantro, green onion, different cheeses + For ~$ 2 more you can get a half sandwich or salad. Pretty good deal. + Every other person seems to get the turkey chili so it’s probably good — Salads/sandwiches are OK but not worth as a standalone. Then again what salad in FiDi is?(seriously I’d love to know) Amongst veg soups, I dig the Mediterranean Lentil w/Spinach(offered some days) and Tomato Bisque(all days). Indian Lentil, Smoky Split Pea, and Southwest Corn Chowder are pretty good. Pass on the Tomato Eggplant and Chili Verde w/Pork.

Some Unilocalers are officially retarded. Who goes here thinking it’s a breakfast place, thus giving it 3 stars? Or, even worse, who calls this place a «solid soup joint» and then gives it a measly 3 stars? And then, you have the 1 star review… comparing the«serive» to that of Mc Donald’s. I suppose they mean service… umm no comment. This place is a solid soup AND salad joint. The lines are reasonable at almost any time and they move fast. I must admit, this is my «go to» spot for an amazing unbelievable home made tasting lunch that is affordable and quick and there’s literally one on every corner in the Fidi. They also let you taste all of their soups and their salads are second to none. I usually make my own salad with dark greens and blue cheese ummm. This place is definitely the BEST lunch place you’ll find in the fidi for under $ 10.

I love soup. Love, love it — almost as much as I like saying«Man-hattan Clam-mmm Chow-dah». I pretend like I have an accent, but I’m just silly. I like the traditional New England clam chowder, but the Manhattan is my favorite. It’s more of a brothy, tomato-based Clam Chowder with chunks of red skinned Potatoes, celery, carrots, and lots of tender clams. Another reason to love it? The Manhattan Clam Chowder is only 144 Calories with 2g of fat, compared to the New England at 449 Calories and 29g of fat. That’s enough to convince this Sea-foodie calorie watcher to opt for the lighter chowdah! Soup’s on!
