A real haircut. I only wish I was still working in SF so that I could get my hair cut more often than once every 2 or 3 months. Each time I go in, Richard needs to fix what the chain shops have done in the east bay burbs. I have been getting my hair cut at Richard’s since 1981 and he is without a doubt, the best. Appointments are not mandatory, but you better have one as Richard is usually booked a day or two in advance.

I’ve been going to Richard’s for the last 15 years and I still go back even though I recently retired and no longer go into the city much. Tim and Richard both always give me a great haircuts. They are conveniently located in the Sutter-Stockton garage building. I enjoy listening to Linda Ronstadt C.D.s while I get my haircut. No better place if you are downtown and need a haircut.

I have had my hair cut by Richard for over 15 years. I don’t tell him how to cut it. He just knows what to do. Richard is the best barber I have ever been to and I am 63 years old.

The best haircut I’ve ever had is from this fantastic shop. No nonsense. The barbers take their job seriously and seem to know what works best for you. I never know how I want my hair cut and when I go here, I have enough trust in them that I will simply tell them to do what they think is best. I’ve never been disappointed.

Back in SF for the first time since 2010 and was in need of a haircut… again. Of course this time I didn’t even waste a minute. I went to Richard’s immediately and he got me in the chair with Tim. Both fellas are super nice, courteous and Tim gave me a great cut. $ 35 bucks for a cut and wash(cash only) is a bit steep but I didn’t bat an eye. They know what they’re doing. Whoever gave them a bad review is out of their friggin’ mind.

I’ve been going to Richard for 30 years. Have had occasional haircuts elsewhere, but NOONE cuts my hair like Richard! He’s a pro. This is a real barber shop for guys. Not fancy, but the BEST haircut you find anywhere. Plus, if your in the mood or have the time, you can get your shoes shined, get a shave, or have your nails done(my wife appreciates when I do that!). Parking is a breeze in the Sutter/Stockton garage. Prices are reasonable. It’s cash only. You want a great haircut? Richard’s is the place to go!

I got the best hair cut I’ve had in years at Richard’s. The place is comfortable and the lady who cut my hair had a great understanding of what I wanted. The only reason I’m not rating five stars is that I found the $ 35(excl. tip) for a basic haircut on the expensive side.

I love this place. It’s really hard to find a real barber shop, and when you do it’s even harder to find one where the barber’s first language is english. Both occur here. Tim is my guy. He does a fantastic job, takes his time, shaves the neckline with a straight razor, and talks to me like a man. Being so far from outdoor activities, wide open spaces, and overall masculinity can make a guy soft. B

There’s only one RIchard’s. Been there weekly for nearly 20 years. It’s the best!

This is the consumate old school barber shop. Richard, his brother are true San Francisco originals — born and bred. How many shops can tell you’ve they’ve given cuts to Mick Jagger and John Lennon? Then, name a gentlemen’s shop where you can still get get a razor shave, your shoes shined and a manicure? And Sinatra tunes?! It’s hidden gem off the street(on the way to the Sutter Stockton garage — which makes it all the better.) I’ve tried other shops and salons in the area. This is the one.
