Came to the Sf food Festival to try out the Scotch Egg. WOW!!! Can I have another 5? So, It was a Hard boiled egg wrapped in ground sausage, and breaded and fried? How can you go wrong. My only suggestion would be having some kind of aioli or pickled veg that would accompany the fried goodness!

Today, I checked out the second annual SF Street Food Festival and the first food stand I hit was Purple Hibiscus(they also appear to go by Chiefo’s Kitchen — still finalizing on a name, I suppose), which specializes in Nigerian food. I was informed this Food Fest was their«opening» and so I was eager to try their Scotch Eggs(hard boiled egg wrapped in sausage, coated in breadcrumbs and deep fried). I had always thought Scotch eggs were a British dish and was surprised to hear that it’s popular in Nigerian cuisine as well. Anyways, the first bite is amazing as you get a satisfying mixture of crunchiness with the savory sausage and egg. Great start to the festival! Can’t wait until to try more of their dishes soon! I understand they currently cater but looking forward to when they open a physical place. In a city with so many diverse culinary options, it seems West African food is definitely underrepresented.
