I love Polk A Dot Consignment. Every time I’m in San Francisco I make sure to swing by to see what they have in the store. My favorite Derek Lam skirt came from Polk A Dot, as did an Armani bolero jacket that I wear all the time. I know! An Armani bolero jacket! The shoes are gorgeous, and sometimes I find great accessories, too, including a beautiful glass pendant from Spain. Unlike certain consignment stores, the clothing is never ordinary or stale — Mark and his wife have a great collection of gorgeous designer pieces and unusual one-offs, some of which they pick up on their buying trips to Europe. I’ve seen the most stunning Prada coats and shoes there, and bought my favorite Clark shoes there … which I wear all the time. For $ 25. That’s right. Polk A Dot Consignment is an absolute gem of a shop.

Best consignment shop in SF! Every time i go into this place I’m shocked that it seemingly hasn’t been discovered yet in a big way. The selection is fabulous(ranging from bargain trendy, adorable stuff to more expensive designer items, again fairly priced.). There’s always a 25% off section for even bigger bargains. Great shoes, great cashmere selection, even good jewelry. Every time I pop in I see something unique and unexpectedly wonderful. On top of that the owners are kind and lovely. I want this place to stay open forever as it truly is my favorite… so check it out and be open to being surprised.

This is the worst experience I have had with a consignment shop. Mark, the owner, is anything but welcoming and sweet. He had an attitude and basically was complaining about what I had brought in. Then, he indicated something about me being«old» and also said that I would be mad, because the items I had brought in would not sell for much. I told him he was making a big assumption about me being mad. I had said nothing about what the pieces could sell for. I also decided not to remain quiet and take his crap, so I looked at him and said he probably should be careful how he treats potential clients and that I would be sure to review him on Unilocal. As I gathered all of my items(even the ones he had set aside to sell), walking towards the door to exit, he yelled they weren’t on Unilocal.LOL! To say the least, Mark is not a good businessman; I worked in retail during college and I remember always being very nice and polite to all customers — young, old, etc. I doubt this place will be in business much longer. Rudeness does not get you very far. Also, word travels fast in San Francisco. I would suggest not giving this place your business unless you are«young» and your items are not Ann Taylor. Update on 1÷12÷2016 Below is the message I received from Mark, the owner, a few days ago. The guy can’t spell and indicates that I trashed my gynecologist. I have not reviewed a gynecologist. Mark’s carelessness with using such words as delusional, old, nasty, sad, and pathetic just indicates what a miserable, hateful individual he is. Mark doesn’t state facts, is very judgmental, and is an ageist. It is too bad he is so bitter, because he can’t make a decent living and has no fashion sense. Take a look at the pictures of the pieces in his store. I think that speaks volumes. It looks like he isn’t following the content guidelines on this site: Inappropriate content: Colorful language and imagery is fine, but there’s no need for threats, harassment, lewdness, hate speech, and other displays of bigotry. Message from Mark( Unilocal name is Polkadot C.): ************************************************************************** Your«reveiw» only confirms my initial judgement of you as a sad, delusional old woman. Just look at your other«reviews» — very pathetic. Clealry, you need professional help. Too bad you hate all of your doctors. Trashing your gyno? Wow — so nasty!!! **************************************************************************

Check it out… this little place is a great addition to Polk Street and packed with cool fashion at reasonable prices. Great selection of a variety of both upscale and less expensive men’s and women’s items. I saw Marc Jacobs, interesting Japanese and Italian designer pieces, Free People, Isabella Fiore, Michael Kors, and even a custom made brand new crocodile Kelly Bag in a great blue-black, just to name a few among a wide selection! I’ve walked out with some great pieces. The owners and staff are welcoming and sweet. Their consignment policies are reasonable. What’s not to like?!
