Peter Westra Photography

I am always weary of photographers, as I have used many (im a performer). I hired Peter to do an all natural head shot of me (Ive made a career change, no more red lipstick and feather boas). He is by far my favorite. He is the first photographer Ive ever worked with who gave me an in depth lesson on how to pose. We found my best side and he gave me usual tips to pose better. He kept my confidence very high thoughout the shoot, which is a key that many photographers do not help with. Im not a model, and I often feel awkward doing shoots. I got to see all of the shots and overall, I had a higher percentage of usable shots than photo shoots i’ve done in the past. This is not only for his technical skills, but as I’d said, he really directs you well. Another big plus was that though he did do great photoshopping, my finished shot still has the natural look. His post production work is very tasteful and the photo is now up on my site and gets loads of compliments from men and women.

Talented, pure and simple.
Peter has an amazing eye for detail and for making those people most camera shy or awkward comfortable in front of the camera. I recently sat with another professional photographer and, hands down, Peter’s image is the more striking and memorable of the two. He’s studied his craft extensively and understands the methods necessary to bring out your most striking (and natural) elements on film. His photos are, essentially, YOU, not a decent or almost authentic likeness of you, but the real you. It’s in the eyes. He captures them and teaches you how to showcase them on photo well.
He guides you through the whole process. He is a refreshing mix of professional and friendly. He’s a hoot to work with; he’ll make you laugh when necessary, he’ll make you reflective when necessary, so it all comes forth in your shoot. Much of the posing he directs doesn’t come naturally to one’s body, but the end result is a head shot that is outstanding. My newest head shot by Peter has gotten more compliments, comments, attention and «likes» than any photo I’ve ever posted, EVER. I use mine professional on Facebook, Rapportive, LinkedIn,
and, now, on Unilocal.It’s struck a chord with business associates, potential clients and potential employers.
Along with his professional head shots, Peter’s artistic portraits and lifestyle shots are some of the most beautiful photographic work I’ve ever seen. His work space is filled with his more artistic and lifestyle shots, some of which will leave you with your mouth slack in awe. A bunch are available on his website. They’re just beautiful; classic shots by a photographer with an obvious appreciation and knowledge of the photographic past and a firm foot in the photographic future.
If ever I need a photographer for my wedding, my business, or my future artistic endeavors, Peter will be the photographer I go to, hands down.
